    Looks Good

Well, yes, It looks great, the gameplay is wonderful, and the AI is fanfrikintastic. I wish I could get it to run. Since loading this thing, I've gotten countless BSOD's for the first time that I've ever had Win XP! If you have an ATI card, and want to play this game; be sure to check out the ubi.com forums under farcry and go into the technical support postings. I don't know if it's bugs or just hardware conflicts, but I spent 7 hours trying to get this thing going on low graphics and still no dice. My specs: P4 1.8 ghz 1gig rdram 10 free HD space ATI 9200 256 mb 8X agp card SB live All drivers updated from catalyst to bios - the whole she-bang dxdiag - turned sound acceleration to minimum loaded Farcry 1.1 patch, still no luck Disabled disk shadowing and pagefile, running apps acceleration according to program only. Some errors: Numerous VPU errors (ATI thing)- when disabled, my pooter would just freeze up. countless BSOD's (first time ever since having XP) after uninstalling and reinstalling/ wiping everything out of the registry related to Crytek, I get a splash screen with a logo and then no activity. (when re-installed) I know the sys specs were steep, but I also knew that it would atleast run on my system. Since getting the card, I can play LOMAC w/out probs! That's an achievment for me. It's kinda sad when one can't even run a game when the specs even far exceed the so-called minimum requirements without all 'the pretty'. I don't know about the others, but I feel cheated. At least until another patch comes out the make this crap work.
  2. lol. GOD help us all!!!!!
  3. Just got it an hour ago, and now I'm d/l the final patch b/c the game crashed me cold on every load. Also d/l new catalyst drivers as well. Will post when I get that bloody game running.
  4. Actually, I just bought a new ATI card. It's not the drivers, but the dang thing has been easily overheating, and they wouldn't replace it! Nothing personal, and I've been using their cards for years now, but c'mon man!

    Graphics Help

Well, after a weekend of tweaks and downloads, I tried running jedi as an experiment, and my graphics card went "NO!" I cracked open the case and the card was reeeeealy hot and the fan had died. It overheated for the last time. I went to Fry's today and found an ATI 256mb 8x agp card for $129. The machine runs like a champ now.
  7. I'm glad to see that those guys are ok. Training accidents tend to happen from time to time. I remember in my old unit, a small convoy was going up a mountain in Hungary, It had rained quite a bit and a mudslide came from nowhere. The first Humvee had slid and flipped over when there was a guy in the machinegun turret. Well, he didn't make it. Even in times of mutual peace these things happen.

    Graphics Help

Sorry that I didn't post this in the video section, but I'm in dire straits. In a nutshell, evrything is fine on the desktop except when I load something like IL-2 or SFP1, and even Morrowond. The frames slow down so much that my puter goes into cardiac arrest. I've re-loaded DX9b, the new nvidia drivers (56.64), and reupdated my intel chipset drivers. All config for cards and memory haven't changed. Im running a 1.8 p4/ gforce 4 ti4600 128 mb card/ 1 gig RAM/ and SBLive audio. Please help me! :(
  9. Hi all, I just loaded up new nvidia drivers- 56.xx i think, butg whenever i load a program, i get a freeze/ctd. anyone know how i can fix this?

  12. That's bloody outstanding! I'm planning on going bac kto school sometime soon. ;)
  13. Good for you bro. Do what you love.
  14. hells yeah!
  15. Man, nothing like a Pacific air battle! I'll definately be looking forward to that!
  16. Ok, just got back a couple of hours ago from Dawn. Pretty cool flick; these are the zombies of the 21st century: better, stronger, faster. They remind me alot of the baddies ala 28 Days Later. Just for sheets and kicks, I went online for more 'Dead' stuff and found some scuttlebutt about a remake of Day of the Dead, which sounds pretty cool. Any horror fan would like this movie, but I reccomend staying away from the imdb forums b/c they are full of the 'Comic Book Guys'. If you want to read about it, go to allthingszombie.com It's a fun little hole. Getting past that, I just want to say that I couldn't imagine trying to survive an onslought of zombies in real life. With all the track star dead guys coming after me, I think I'd say a prayer and click the Claymore remote one last time.
  17. LOL My dad was not one to 'spare the rod' on any child of his; blood or not. He used the switches untill we got a little older (12 or so, and I was the oldest). Then he went to WalMart and bought a rod the you stick in the ground that had a reflector on top. Removing the reflector transformed this rod into a tool of discipline. I still remember that thing slicing thu the air as it homed in on my butt.
  18. Funny story. Growing up, I had 2 half sisters, 1 half brother, 1 step of each. I lived w/ my dad and step mom, step bro n sis, and baby half sis. We each got 1 week of dish duty, and had no dishwasher. So, my step brother's week comes and goes up to Friday where he goes to a sleepover at a friends' house, but he couldn't go until he did the dishes. I get home and find a LOAD of dishes stashed in the our bedroom in a box behind some clothes in the closet. Being the assclown that I am, I told my dad. One phone call later and Jason is home getting his butt busted and also the assignment of dishes for a month! The reason I did it is because my week was next. Well, my schedule is clear!
  19. lol My little bro went to see it last night, and he loved it. The only thing is that the end was wierd. He didn't tell me tho.
  20. WE were going to see it tonite, but I forgot the supid coupon for a discount. I was willing to pay full price to see it (Deadhed), but my fiance wouldn't let me, so I have to wait untill tomorrow. Zombies may be walking the earth then.....
  21. Check out EBGames at a mall location. They usually have a great selection of used pc games @ discount prices. They also have a membership that costs $10 a year and you get the monthly GMR magazine (it's ok), but the real gem is the extra 10% off any used game for any platform. The down side to it all is that the trade-ins are at set prices, so you won't get a super tradein value for older games, but if it's something that you don't play anymore and you need shelf space, just trade in 3 or 4 decent games and combine that with the membership for a pretty deep discount. So far it's the best deal in town for instant gratification!
  22. Lo all, I LOVE the IL-2 series, but the machinegun sounds get pretty generic after a while of flying. Anyone know of aome machinegun sound mods that may me out there? Thanks
  23. I gotta try that out. HMMM, I guess I'd have to trade in HALO and BF1942 to get it discounted. It's kindof an agreement with my woman, I trade in old for new. Makes sense if I don't play it anymore. Plus, fundage is short on my end.
  24. It was great, I just tried to load up the prog, but I guess it's too old. :( I used to play that game on our first family computer the PS1. Until we got that, I was at my friend's place playing the original GUNSHIP! on his Commodore. Wow, technology has really been moving at warp speed the last few years. Flying over a mountain was like haveing a triangle move under you in that old sim. I can't wait until we have Holodecks! How about LHX Attack Chopper?
  25. The other day I was digging around in some old boxes and found Chuck Yeager's Air Combat. Man, I loved that game and it came with a HUGE manual. Did anyone else ever play that?
