Ive sent out several PMs to members in the last couple months and Ive not gotten replies from the senders. Thought at first I had a problem with BO or something. Then realized that my messages arent showing up in my sent folder. It would seem for some reason my PMs arent going out when I click send. Help?

CTD problem with SF2
pcpilot replied to pcpilot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Dang...after all that ini crap I went thru, I found this little tidbit in the KB...http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=12147. They are all with no exceptions, working now...Thanks Dave. You can all stand down, this was only a drill. I repeat, this was only a drill... Geeeeeze... -
Ive installed some of Wolfs and AD's Japanese aircraft to an install of SF2 trying to make a PAW setup. For the most part things are going pretty good. Ya know, this is kinda fun. Reminds me of my childhood modeling, lol. But Ive run into another problem that I hope someone can help me figure out. Two aircraft in particular are causing CTDs when I try to select them and create a single mission. They appear in the drop down menu for selection but as soon as I try to go to the hangar, CTD. I have looked thru the various inis for both aircraft till my eyes are bloodshot and cant seem to find a reason for this. I'd really like to get these planes flying as they are badly needed Japanese bombers. They are Wolfs KI-21 Sally and KI-57 transport. I suspect since both are essentially the same aircraft, Wolf may have used a lot of the same things like LOD, etc for both. So what afflicts one also causes a problem with the other. PS. Well added some of the DATs Japanese aircraft. One works fine but the Ki-45a and Ki-48 are CTDing also. I added Wrenchs ini update for the Ki-48 hoping that would help but unfortunately hasnt. So maybe it isnt an ini issue. Any ideas? Im at a loss...

pcpilot replied to pcpilot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Thank you Shaolin, couldnt find them for the life of me. -
I cant find Wolf's KI-43 or his second improved KI-27. Anyone know where they are? Thank you in advance...

SF2E also does WW2
pcpilot replied to gregoryp's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Prop Heads Forum
Thats it! Thats the file. Didnt realize that file also held that info. I figured it was all FM data. I also got the guns to work on the zero too using that data. Thanks Warlord! -
Its in keeping with the rest of my life...lol. This is SF2 with the May2009 patch. Ive made a WW2 install, removing the jets and adding WW2 terrains. Still have to change ground objects. Here are a couple attachments. Look careful and you can see two pilots. Its espesially noticable when one turns his head.

Hi Wrench, Hope this is what your asking for. Its from the A6M5_Data.ini... [sound] EngineSoundName=PropLoop3 AfterburnerSoundName= DamagedEngineSound= FlapsSoundName=Flaps AirbrakesSoundName=Airbrakes GearsSound=Gear Next to engine name, I tried several different sounds which I know work on other aircraft to no avail. I also didnt know that about intercept missions, interesting. Was sure odd though once I took off and reached a certain hieght, that displayed altitude changed so abrubtly by such a large amount. I will experiment later with different maps and see what happens. I'll also take a look at steering angles too, thanks. EDIT....Ok, the steering angle was set to -45 so reset it to 45, thanks. I also have been having a problem with the decals showing up on the P-47M; they werent. Found that my decals folder was labeled P-47M and the decal.ini was calling the folder P-47D-20. Soooo, this needs to be changed from this... [Decal008] MeshName=Right_Wing DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=P-47D-20\36FG\starbar <-----------------Wrong Position=4.340,-0.100 Scale=2.00 DecalMaxLOD=4 To this.... [Decal008] MeshName=Right_Wing DecalLevel=0 DecalFacing=BOTTOM FilenameFormat=P-47M\36FG\starbar <------------------Correct Position=4.340,-0.100 Scale=2.00 DecalMaxLOD=4 -

Im having the same issue with the zero. I have a zero.wav I tried to use to no effect. Then tried several other sounds with no luck. So finally went back to the proploop sound and it doesnt work either! Ive noticed that when I shoot down the zero, it usually goes into a flat spin immediately on its way down. Once when I shot down a zero, the plane fell immediately to the ground. The red target box continued on by itself, smoking, as it fell to the ground in a different direction! In case you didnt hear that correctly, I say again...the target box fell smoking to the ground by itself having seperated from the plane which fell quickly to the ground long before the box finally crashed...lol. I even took a screenie if anyone wants to see it. When the target box hit the ground, it exploded. I didnt realize the target boxes were fueled and carried ammo... Another odd behavior I noticed involved the P-47. I have my options set to start the mission near the objective. Several times in a intercept mission I started the mission with my squadron on the ground at an airfield. I figured ok whatever so took off to intercept the enemy which happened to be zeros. My 3 other squadron mates on the ground did not take off behind me. Instead the stayed on the ground following me with their noses as if they were unable to take off, just taxi. I also happened to be watching my altimeter. It had originally started at ground level but as I neared around a 1000 feet, it suddenly switched to about 5000 feet! Remember I had set my options to start in the air near the target but had for some wierd reason started on the ground. Now I was at the altitude I should have been at. Ive noticed these anolomies while flying in the China terrain if that should make a differance. -
Getting ships into SF2
pcpilot replied to pcpilot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
No, thats fine, I'll wait. Wish I was better with this stuff and had more time. Thank you for yours and Fubar's help. The Chapaev is a nice ship to have ingame. Im curious though...what was the problem with the data.ini if I may ask? Ive got the data.ini for the Koni Fast Frigate but cant get it to show up either. Maybe its something similar with the two ships. -

pcpilot replied to pcpilot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yup, thats the same ini as I have. I also made sure the date of the mission was within the ships' service life. Still no Koni...wierd. The Chapeav would be much appreciated. But note that I have the original and it doesnt even have a chapeav_Data.ini, just the main ini file. So not sure if itd work at all. -

pcpilot replied to pcpilot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hah! That did it...well, at least I got CV-59/62 into the game. This part needed to be added for cv-62... [GroundObjectData] ObjectFullName=xxxxxx ObjectDataFile=xxxxxx_data.ini Yay! Still cant seem to get the koni FFG, CVN-75, and Chapeav in though. There is no data.ini for the chap. The koni has one but still doesnt work even after checking to see if those lines were there...they were. Same for the CVN75. So not sure whats up there. Hinch, is the chapeav still available? I couldnt find it in our CA downloads. -
Getting ships into SF2
pcpilot replied to pcpilot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I have made a couple missions; one with desert terrain and the other with the Korea terrain using Kreelins editor, these arent game generated missions. I doubt the ini's are updated as the ships I mentioned are older, mostly from capuns site. What does it take to update them? FYI, I just installed and made a mission using Kreelins editor and Hinchs' Coventry frigate and it showed up when I tried the mission ingame. So list of ships that work ingame include CVAN-65, Kynda, Coventry, Eagle, and the Patrol boat. Still no Spruance, Koni, Komar, or Chapeav. -
Can someone help me with this. I have tried to get the Spruance, koni, and Chapeav into the game but with no luck. I installed the Kynda and it works fine. I put it here along with the other ships... C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2\Objects\GroundObject\Kynda: I have winXP. So cant seem to figure out the diff here between the models. Any suggestions? PS. Forgot to add that the ships show up in Kreelins editor list and I can place them on the map. But when I fire up the game and test the mission...no ship. The ones I have working apparently include CVAN-65 and Kynda. I also checked some other ships and the only ones that show up are the CVAN-65, Kynda, Eagle, and the patrol boat. I am assuming the tanker and cargo ship showup as I havent tried them. I wonder if it might have something to do with the lods?

SF2 mission editor question
pcpilot replied to pcpilot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well, Ive still been unable to get Le Missioneer to work. I did however get Kreelins editor to work. Just put it under C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 instead of the C: drive instalation. So yay, finally got an editor... -
SF2 decal question
pcpilot replied to pcpilot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yup, thats put me on the right track. It also needs the name of the skin folder too though. Such as ...C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2\Objects\Decals\F-14A\VF142\D. Then I got it to work. Thanks fellas. -
I have the MF F-14A installed and working pretty darn good in my SF2 install in WinXP. The only problem is that, of the 4 skins for the tomcat, only one, VF1, has decals showing. So I took the "D" folder from all three skins not showing decals and put them in the decals folder in C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2\Objects\Decals. Still dont work. Any suggestions? This might be one to add to the KB.
