  1. Hi fellas, was on the SimHQ forum and read an update TK put on the forum concerning the patch he is working on. There have been quite a few grumblings so he finally answered them with some good comments, read on... "Stonec1, I do understand your frustration, I’m anxious to get this out as soon as I can myself! But unfortunately, these things just don’t happen instantly. We put together a build (takes a day), put it on out FTP, let beta testers download it (takes a couple days), they run it through its paces (another couple days), they report back to us about the problems, and we make decision on how to act on those reports. If we decide to fix them, that’s another couple of days of fixing, and the process repeats. And weeks can go by in a hurry doing this. FYI, AAA and SAM aren’t the only thing being fixed for the patch - they aren’t even the main concerns. The primary issues we’re trying to address are the CTD’s and other showstopper bugs. The patch will have other quick fixes (such as AAA and SAM) thrown in, but they’re not what’s holding the patch back. Two things that we are waiting to resolve: One is connectivity issue in multiplayer, which was introduced in one of the patch builds (I don’t think it was in the retail build - it’s always three steps forward and two steps back ). At SFI QA, they are unable to stay connected in multiplayer for more than a couple of minutes. We felt this was important enough that we should hold the release and look into it. And we are also waiting for reports from our localization builds, we want to make sure the version they get is compatible with English build, so we’re making sure any changes we have to make there also make into the patch. *IF* the build we currently have in testing passes the muster, and *IF* there are no major changes requested from localization people, then we should have the patch released early next week. If not, it’ll be another build and probably another week. Sorry I wish I could make it go faster, but it just takes time. Razorback, LOL! Li'lJugs, Thanks for your support, but I think you might be barking up the wrong tree... This project was independently funded, so at this point, the only thing SFI is providing is QA support, and not $$$ support. In any event, since $$$ and time go hand in hand, if you’re asking for more $$$, that means you’re asking fore more time (ie, delay the patch), is that what you’re asking for? guderian ente, And yes, subsequent patches will most likely add new features as well TK" End of transmission. This communication module will self-destruct in 10 seconds...9...8...
  2. I made the TU22 and IL28 flyable in the game. I went to do some missions and find that I can only carry one bomb no matter the mission for both aircraft. I thought at first that maybe the mission type was limiting us to only one bomb, but I have found that no matter what mission type, you still only get one bomb. I then checked several websites for the TU22 and sure enough, the TU can carry up to 12,000 kg of bombs and missles. One website said it can carry up to 24 FAB-500 bombs or one FAB-9000 bomb! I then opened the TU22 Data, ini, and loadout files using the extract utility. The loadout.ini file says we can use 12 FAB250 bombs for strike and attack missions. The TU22_data file says under [WeoponStations] that we can carry 12 bomb class wepons up to 9000kg. So theoretically we should be able to carry more than one bomb but I cant figure out why we arent showing more than one bomb in the loadout screen ingame. I havent checked the bombload for the IL28 and know that it was pretty light but I would be surprised if it didnt carry more than one bomb. Can anyone else out there help out and figure why we cant carry more than one bomb for the TU22 and IL28? Also, is there a way to add a bombbay door animation to the data file? It has the line for it, just no animation listed. It looks odd dropping my one bomb thru the fuselage.
  3. You may already know all this so bear with me... First make sure you run scandisk on your harddrive, then defrag it. Second, make darn sure you have all the latest drivers for everything, video, sound, MoBo...everything. Third, make sure you have DirectX 8.1 installed. Fourth, make sure NOTHING is running in the background except "Explorer" and "Systray". Use Cntrl-Alt-Del to do this. Try the game then and see what happens. If it still messes up, then try setting your game settings to the lowest settings, then try restarting the game. If it still messes up, they try uninstalling the game, restart the computer, then reinstall the game. If you encounter any problems with any game or software, this should be your first aid kit. If this doesnt work, I would call ThirdWire Tech support. Hope this helps.
  4. Havent heard but I cant even get his website to come up at all. Its like his server is down or something. By the way, anyone know when Gabby Gabreski passed away? He was a childhood hero of mine... Im sure gonna miss him and his generation, they made America what it is today, we owe them a LOT. God speed pard, we're gonna miss ya...
  5. I agree 100% Ranger on better damage effects. I love the way IL2 models it with peices of wing spar, etc. poking out of the remains of the wing, or a shotup stabilizer showing its ribs. Thats cool. The visuals are probably the most important aspect of a game after its playability. But I personally also like IL2's FF, like when I'm taking off, the bumping down the runway, or the bump of the flaps coming up, or when I am hit by rounds fired by some unlucky, poor, benighted fool who managed to get behind me and who now is only seconds away from a flaming, exploding death because he had the temerity to fire at ME...uh, sorry, I digress... I just think its one more thing to make the game that much more immersive. If ya dont like it, a good game will allow you to turn it off.
  6. Whiteside, your comments about the sim hearten all of us as you have practicle experiance. Thanks for letting us know about this. How as it you flew a real Mig? Were you in the USAF or Polish AF? Ya got me curious. I'm still learnin how to get off the runway in a computer game...hehehe. As for your black screen, I am having the same problem on my WinMe machine in HyperLobby and Gamespy. I just got the game going for a friend on his WinXP machine and it worked fine in Hyperlobby, didnt test it in Gamespy. I noticed that my machine however wasnt always locked solid. A couple times I could Cntrl-alt-del out of the program. Most of the time however, I have locked like you. I still have yet to fly MP in any way on my machine...
  7. There are two, yes you read it right, TWO topgun skins at Marcfighters located here...http://www.marcfighters.hpg.ig.com.br/index.htm
  8. LOL! Well, cleared up that mystery, hehehe. I can tell this poor fellow is DYIN' to tell us...LOL! THAT would be rough.
  9. Just had to blab didnt you? Hopefully they dont rough you up too bad...
  10. Several times I have hosted a game on HL. In game all goes pretty well, though the framerates are mediocre. Then when I try to leave, all I get is a blank, black screen. I can sometimes see my mouse curser but often not. If I hit enter a few times, I can see activity on the HD light on my comp, but still the screen. I have to cntl-alt-del to restart the computer or use reset button. I had the same problem once in gamespy, (only time I tried gamespy). I am running P3 1ghz CPU 320 mb pc-133 ram intel 815E chipset Shuttle AE-22 MoBo Radeon 8500LE w/64MB DDR vidRam SB Live! X-gamer 5.1 :? :(
  11. NDA? Ok Hollywood, ya got me there, mystery of the week. What is NDA? :?
  12. Yeah, almost like a "near stall" effect. I agree, it would be a nice realism addon, espesially with force feedback.
  13. Agreed, but this is something I DO hope they consider adding. It would be a shame to not eventually have the capability if we desire.
  14. You made a good point Ranger. I do go with whatever the server/host decides are the rules for the game. No vulching rule?, then no vulching. I just like to comment on all those that dont think it is a real tactic.
  15. Im about as technical as a canopener so I'll leave this stuff to you boys. From the sounds emanating from your posts I think your on to something. I agree with SD, any change to make things more realistic is a change for the better. I had noticed that the MiG-17 did seem awfully powerful. Good catch Column5.
  16. Found this gem posted by MajorLee on the SimHQ forum, thought you guys would like to know. Check out the skins at this site! This dude is blowin and goin, turnin and burnin, rotatin and motivatin! Very nice skins AND a couple of repainted cockpits! It can be found here...http://www.marcfighters.hpg.ig.com.br/index.htm
  17. This would be a nice addition to the game, having this multiplayer skin transfer capability. Make it another step towards being first class and competition for other sims.
  18. Found a Tutoril on editing Decals here...http://www.bobsyouruncle.net/StrikeFighterHome.htm, Will study it tonite...
  19. DK, according to the Skunkworks project list THEY are doing, there is an F-8 Crusader in the works. I agree with you that that plane along with the A-7 are pretty much "must haves" for the era. It didnt show an A-7 however. When I was on the Uss Independance we had two squadrons of A-7E's on board, VA-15 "Valions", and VA-87 "Golden Warriors". It was interesting to watch them tear up our towed "target spar" with thier cannon and bombs. Being the Boatswainmate in charge of the Target spar however meant I always had to haul in that riddled, waterlogged hunk of worthless metal after they were done with it... Those were cool birds, I'd love to fly one in this game.
  20. Anyone hear anything on this?
  21. That book looks good Sith, my kind of readin material. I will look that one up. Did you ever read Tom Clancy's Sum of all Fears? That was a great novel there let me tell you...hehehe. Hey sixmillion, a clerk at Wherehouse records gave me this website to visit that lists all the current releases on DVD and VHS. It is called the "Internet Movie DataBase" and can be found at www.imdb.com. Check them out...
  22. Drool...slobber...salivate... RATS! My keyboard! Its all yur fault coyote... Nice job pal. With art like that, a lot more people will be interested in flying the migs all of a sudden. Hey, I wont get shotdown in no sloppy looking model by george. I only die in first class aircraft! This is DEFINATELY first class.
  23. My vote is for direct TCP/IP connection and also dont forget the capability to be a server. Too many dweebs on gamespy, this is common knowledge in the gaming community.
  24. A story in pics hehehe. Now I'd like to make a movie...
