  1. Su-27 Intercepts P-3 over the Baltic

Thumps!!! Nice thank you again the MB.
  2. haha sweet story. Old hard drives that are never used except for backups will last forever. My RE4 that failed was rather new, but always running. I still have a 125MB WD from 1993 that I have some old DOS stuff backed up to. Okay, you have two hard drives, both t > 8yr. ... A couple of cheap thumb drives can offer additional safety at low cost. Best try to get some newer small capacity hard drives to add two your 2 current drives. I also have a few thumb drives I don't trust, but they are there. Safetey in numbers.
  3. Its NOT funny. Something like this actually happened and blew my mind when I read about it. USN sailed a carrier task force through an RN carrier force during the Suez War.
  4. Oh, forgot, the point....back up your work. I use old internal hard drives, many, many of them, plug them in, backup and plug them out and store them safely, and also, just in addition for kicks, to a few flash drives or DVDs, which are the new floppies.
  5. Still having fun at it haha. I just made a most important discovery. Last autumn....in the north here....I lost a hard drive I never expected to lose (WD RE4) and I hadn't backed up my reworked Baikal map. Man I spent so much time on that. It was GONE. But 3 days ago, I was flipping through some old hard drives, and THERE IT WAS. Apparently I indeed made a backup of my new(er) map, fully completed, maybe while I was asleep since I ALWAYS backup and I've never lost anything, ever, something I bragg about, until I lost this map, or so I thought. I couldn't admit to losing this map because I didn't backup, especially with Dave lurking around, until now of course, cos I did back it up. I don't remember doing it. Maybe that's good, as backing up should be like remembering to make your heart beat. It just happens...regularly. Naturally I when I found this, I immediately panicked and made multiple backups on additional hard and flash drives.
  6. Tejas on delievery

oh man, been a while, had to sign in for this one. Thanks for this, I had no idea, this is really Aussums. I'll have to catch up starting here ~~ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HAL_Tejas Thanks again 76!
  7. In a B-52 over Hanoi

Thanks MB. Puckered and Phactored indeed. Reminds me of Robinson's Zeppelin book (find it, worth it). Once the Brits figured out how, on some multi-missions, the airship crews could see other zeppelins burning 50 miles away, falling in flames among the stars to the clouds below.
  8. Eel drones

Anybody know about teh h'>Giant Oarfish Swims by undulating(?) its long dorsal fin, not its body. How would that be for quietness and stealth? I think, it spends most time hanging and swimming vertical. Longest fish known. Best fish skin ever. Polished aluminumnum scales all over, but with bright red fins. Like SAC B-36 Berthas. Fav fish since I was a squish.
  9. Oh, man -- talk about bad luck!

Back To the Furnace. Good movie that one. I waa YJ, lovem reptangular headlights, hard to find clean frame here but one looks good but 4 cylinder with AX~5 transmission, pure weakness drivetrain BUT its 1995 looks garage CLEAN half doors and everything else on my czech list.
  10. Aussum read. MB, that's why its a good idear to first list an article's name and author, maybe some background, and then link. Beers to ya!
  11. Terrorist W/hostages in AU

Another reason for armed and carrying citizens. Or are the Aussies neutered? If I recall from teh Nightwatch, in Afghan this year, some Talibans tried an attack but the Talibans were all shot or captured by the local villagers. The captured ones got hunnng.
  12. SR-71 photos

KC-747/-25 Interesting indeed. Found this, Australian, long LONG read on this plane and lots of pix.... PDF file ... A Strategic Tanker/Transport Force for the ADF - Air Power link ~> http://www.ausairpower.net/PDF-A/wp82-draft.pdf
  13. Any Americans and Canadians on this site?

found one version of it ~> http://imgur.com/gallery/hfEtoYW
  14. Any Americans and Canadians on this site?

Thanks! What did we find? It turns out, the Swedish photo of the recent PSO (Partially Submerged Object), when blown up, revealed Putin swimming bare chested in Swedish waters.
  15. Saitek Pain in the Ass!

I figured long ago never use a joystick that requires software. Interestingly, the *top* joystick is the old Saitek, the Cyborg Graphite, commonly found at The WalMarts for about 20$. Largest throw by a long shot, 6 inches, way more than the fancy sticks. Most massive base Largest and most firm feedback stick buttons Hardcore trigger click and feel. Largest most massive throttle. Most rugged stick ever made. Mine lasted for 10 years, still worked fine but it started developing wear finally...and dusty as cht. I just replaced it with one of two backups. They are inexpensive. Best firm feedback hat buttons, although only 4-way. Its supposed to be 8-way but the diagnals don't work as accurately as the normal 4. That's the only drawback I found. 2nd best, no software. 1st Best of all, the Cyborg Graphite's simplicity and ruggedness best simulates a classical joystick found in warplanes from WW2 thru at least the 60s. I consider the expensive fancy pants super sticks that come with software to be future space battleship sticks or something. mmm Well, maybe it did come with software. But if so, I never used it.
  16. Iranian F-4s in Syria?

I got this from Pat Lang's place, 3 December... e'>Ashton Carter - Martin Dempsey and the WH crowd : : - Kirby, the DoD press person, says that there is no "coordination" with Iranian forces in Iraq. When pressed by Blitzer he says that the Iraqi government is "deconflicting" air operations in their air space. That is a form of "coordination." .... : :
  17. Wrench thank you for that vid in the TV thread. It caused me to find this...never seen it. Late 50s/early 60s .... F-105 ~> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MR2F677wYm0 Metal skin with yellow wings so pretty. 12:50 ... High altitude brake chute deployment...accidental? Don't have sound on my computer. 13:00+ several high altitude spins ~ 17:00+ ... Early F-105 refueling attempts....KB-50J takeoff. 26:25+ ... arming including winder racks and belly shape. Moving soon but man I want to get back into The StrikeFighters just for this kinda stuff.
  18. Potential Ukrainian Air Force losses

lost it....found it ~> http://lostarmour.info/armour/ Vehicle losses in the Uk War this summer, also one-sided. The successful air defence allowed a pure ground war. Geps, after the (kinda) cease fire, funny video I saw of Motorola's men presenting him with an old Motorola cell phone. See if I can find it. My fave has to be....ugh forgot...the commander defending llovaisk (sp?) ... in interview video a Ukie shell//rocket landed and his men scrambled, he just stood there talking didn't notice a thing. Cool bro there.
  19. Potential Ukrainian Air Force losses

Uk also painted two white stripes on all their vehicles. Recall F-15s downing own choppers -- oops that was 1994. They look for visual but insignia not seen or not identified, forgot.
  20. Oh Hell no.

meh Its Russian, designed for that. --- -- - How Russians save a cat stuck in a tree LOL ~> http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=165198481 3 pages of BB comments are what makes it even better. Cliffs:: Butchers axe? Everybody has one at home. We have aquired electricity. Going home now, to bed.
  21. My Dad the Hero

Dave that's wonderful stuff. Only thing missing in his pic is a standard SAC issued cigar.
  22. Interesting SR-71 Photos.

uh, that is really nice. Click pics to make larger, and scroll around. Ugh I wish I had time to get back into my The StrikeFighters strategic theme. This plane (more likely A-12) had a role in it I planned. M=3.5 @ 90,000ft was the original Kelly Johnson goal, and he always reached his goals, and unlike Convair, Kellly had no interest in stealth at the time, but CIA wanted stealth so the performance had to be radically lowered....lol. Thanks SV!!!
  23. NightWatch

Not what I wanted to hear, but I have suspected it for a long, long time. x'>For the night of 9 November 2014::
  24. Irans new RQ-170 style UAV
