  1. Wrench, I've read Gepard's tutorial time ago and I don't recall that you can obtain a real life size terrain just by setting the Map Scale parameter to 125%. IIRC Gepard's method involved using a bitmap of the heightmap exported with TE, then you have to cut and/or resize the bitmap to your need/likings, finally the bitmap needs to be imported into TE. Anyway, no problem with Long and Lat, actually I've already managed to create the same HFD of DS/IR2003, of course with no flattening or anything else. The biggest problem it's me; I prefer to work with this HFD, because a 2000 km map would be to difficult for an amateur like me to start with. If I continue to work with the terrain we have I can finish and release something at last. Strangely enough long time ago I was interested in creating a Red Sea map similar to that of the good old (gold) simulator F-22 Total Air War. I started a thread about it but then I ceased development. I like smaller terrains (size of 1000 km or a little bigger), just to keep diversity between each terrain. I hate to see that, for instance, areas represented in other terrains (stock Israel) are present in another map, but of course not identical due to different tilesets and target placement... Yeah, I don't know how to explain my thought better, sorry.
  2. Wrench, I'll PM you, I'd like to have a look at it. However time ago I started modding the original IR terrain, fixing the targets coordinates. Creating a new one of such size would be too much for me, and I guess it will be less precise too since it will be the (standard TW) 63% of the real size. Instead I'm thinking that I can expand it a little more to the south and east, so Turkey and part of Syria are not present, not to mention the Red Sea which appears well behind The Wall. Maybe we can use the OffMapAirbase statement for those who have SF2 NA, so the AI will be flying from the airbases in Turkey.
  3. Still thanks for the additional info, Wrench. If I manage to find some free time this weekend or the next one I'll post my results here.
  4. Many thanks for the heads up Wrench. I didn't install the TerrainEditor to the root of C. In other news, I'll experiment with the texturelist.ini and I'll try to expand the terrain area as you suggested. I wish I'd had more free time, but as of now RL is kicking bad. Just keep your fingers crossed, eventually I'll manage to finish and release it in a playable form.
  5. Horseshit, am I blind? 'Cos I swear I wrote HFD, while I said that missing lakes and rivers are due to the TFD, which is a pain in the arse for those like me who handtile a terrain with only gerwin's TFDTool (TK's TerrainEditor is prone to crash a lot on my Win7 x64, even though I set it up correctly, not to mention I would also need a whole new texturelist.ini which already includes the new tiles of the Iran\Iraq terrain because I have no idea how to create one). In no way Wrench I was criticizing your work, actually I was only trying to be helpful in improving it. We already discussed about it long time ago: http://combatace.com/topic/81156-about-the-iraniraq-terrain-wrench/
  6. Many tiles, Stratos. I was working on a revamped Iran\Iraq terrain for the Iran\Iraq war mod , but the project is now on hiatus because of RL. Problem is that the Desert Storm terrain lacks rivers, lakes, port and road tiles, while the post DS, OIF terrain has many targets and cities placed in wrong coordinates, they do not follow RL locations. My terrain has corrected most target locations (both for DS and after DS) but it is as of now unplayable due to a lack of airfield flattening in the HFD and due to missing water bodies in the TFD. If there is enough interest, I might resume working at it, but sporadically since tomorrow I begin my studies at university. If only I could hand the terrain package over to our terrain master, Wrench...
  7. I'm not sure if this is a bug, it happens with the plane either parked at an airbase or on an aircraft carrier. If anyone knows which parameters need to be checked in the _DATA.ini it would be much appreciated.
  8. Thanks for the replies. Caesar, I have to admit I was pretty unsure about it, I mean The Mirage Factory F-14 is so perfect that I guessed it wasn't a bug, but a feature. I'm wondering if TK's F-14 has a similar thing, but I think it doesn't.
  9. Its Just Breaks My Heart

Damn... but where's the Tomcat? It's a great time-lapse video, seeing these U.S. aircraft that made history under the blue sky they used to fly in, what a sight!
  10. Thank you for this great mission pack! I was thinking about creating a dynamic campaign with Iceland totally conquered by the Soviets, but the 30+ single missions seem a better idea, especially when based off Tom Clancy's novel. Good job.
  11. I'm not a fan of what ifs, but I'm in love with the good old F-22 Total Air War, so... Saudi Arabian F-22 Egyptian F-22
  12. Medals & musics for SF2: Korean Air War

Thanks for sharing. It's a nice package.
  13. 9 yr old kid shoots instructor with uzi..

You got that right, Dave. I forgot that are such incidents, and training surely helps avoid them. BTW good quote, it's yours right?
  14. Kesselbrut's works are only available for download at the A-Team site, right? IIRC not all of his cockpits are available here, such those of the helos (it does make sense since we don't have all proper planes or helos for them). yakarov79, good job, the helo is very detailed. Looking forward to it.
  15. 9 yr old kid shoots instructor with uzi..

Dave, first I want to say that I feel very sorry if I hurt your feelings. However I don't want to say that I feel insulted, but at least next time say that I have a different point of view, not that I'm ignorant. Your children know such difference because you taught them and trained them, and the fact that you've been in the military it's exactly a plus for a better understanding of what risks there are when using a firearm. BTW in my precedent post I was speaking generally and not referring to your post (that's my mistake, I admit it, sometimes I forget to make the necessary distinctions). In my opinion I do think that it's better if children stay away from weapons for as long as possible, then when they are becoming mature they make their choice. Weapons are dangerous if/when loaded with live rounds, so even when one shoots in a range something can go wrong due to a series of variables. When I said that weapons are meant to kill, I meant (my English is repetitive and sucks, I know, thanks to Italy) that firearms have no brain in themselves, the brain is from the users, so it's all subjective. It's just my POV, you all can agree or disagree. My sincerely apologies to Dave.
  16. ISIS recruits from the UK

Maybe I'm listening to it without too much attention, because it seems to me that a minority of people doesn't mean anything at all when peaceful, but when armed and a real threat then it means something. I'd say it is a sad and cynical view of the world. Sorry if I'm going to politicize, but first of all I think that we (and by 'we' I mean all of us living in the Western world, don't care if Muslim, Christian, etc.) should consider how great hypocrites we are. Remember Bush Jr.'s executed invasion of Iraq (which many of us Europeans supported)? Good. Saddam was a bad dictator, like many others still existing in the world (unfortunately) but most likely he wasn't a low-down terrorist, as instead Bush and his administration suggested. With Saddam reigning over Iraq, ISIS wouldn't have happened. I'm not supporting dictatorships, I'm just wondering what kind of a motive we have to invade half of the world. By the way look at Libya: no Gaddafi, yes civil war. Great, now the world is a better place, again.
  17. 9 yr old kid shoots instructor with uzi..

What is beyond me is the fact that children are taught to use firearms; I don't care if it's an automatic UZI or a pistol. Weapons are meant to kill, they aren't toys, and a child is not able to fully understand this.
  18. Grazie, we really need more user made missions for SF2.
  19. Looking forward to it! TSF2 is simply one of the best expansions available for SF2, since it includes new content, rivalling to an extent the probably defunct TW.
  20. The model in the link is pirated, IIRC it is from InSky.
  21. Despite the fact that the game generates flights and parked aircraft according to the nations.ini, it seems that, for instance, Belgian planes take off from a French airbase and not from those of their country (GermanyCE terrain). I'm guessing this is a feature we should beg TK to add.
  22. Oohrah, Stary! Good to see you are back.
  23. Ditto that, sometimes the values are reversed, so longitude is latitude and vice versa. Malibu43, time ago I discovered what was causing problems with the latest SARCASM mod from Stary. It is a parameter you need to change in the environmentsystem.ini, check the link below (SARCASM file announcement thread) for further info on how to solve it. http://combatace.com/topic/79807-sarcasm-v-15/ Warthog64, IIRC the Modern Warfare Korea mod doesn't use Stary's mod, so just do what whiteknight06604 says.
  24. Hi all. Does anyone know if the game reads decals in the .dds format (of course after correcting the relevant .ini files in each skin folder)? I have a "rather large" mod folder of over 60GB, most if not all bitmaps were converted to .jpeg, but the decals folder alone is at least 30GB big, and I hate that. Second question: do you know where I can change the camera zoom in and zoom out values for each aircraft? For instance, unlike the stock Thirdwire aircraft, some 3rd party aircraft have some issues with the external camera views, if you zoom in too much you can see the "interior" of such aircraft. P.S.: for those who are wondering why my personal mod is 60GB, all I can tell is that I have combined most of the greatest mods ever released for SF2 (Full-5 Merged - none of the DLCs): TSF2, ODS, OTC, KAW, NATO Fighters, SF2V Expansion, Falklands mod and so on. I thank all the modders here at CombatAce, thanks to their efforts Strike Fighters is becoming something more, a Cold War anthology.
  25. I got the nvidia plugin. It works and has a lot of functions. Thanks for the tip.
