  1. Its Just Breaks My Heart

Damn... but where's the Tomcat? It's a great time-lapse video, seeing these U.S. aircraft that made history under the blue sky they used to fly in, what a sight!
  2. Thank you for this great mission pack! I was thinking about creating a dynamic campaign with Iceland totally conquered by the Soviets, but the 30+ single missions seem a better idea, especially when based off Tom Clancy's novel. Good job.
  3. I'm not a fan of what ifs, but I'm in love with the good old F-22 Total Air War, so... Saudi Arabian F-22 Egyptian F-22
  4. Medals & musics for SF2: Korean Air War

Thanks for sharing. It's a nice package.
  5. 9 yr old kid shoots instructor with uzi..

You got that right, Dave. I forgot that are such incidents, and training surely helps avoid them. BTW good quote, it's yours right?
  6. Kesselbrut's works are only available for download at the A-Team site, right? IIRC not all of his cockpits are available here, such those of the helos (it does make sense since we don't have all proper planes or helos for them). yakarov79, good job, the helo is very detailed. Looking forward to it.
  7. 9 yr old kid shoots instructor with uzi..

Dave, first I want to say that I feel very sorry if I hurt your feelings. However I don't want to say that I feel insulted, but at least next time say that I have a different point of view, not that I'm ignorant. Your children know such difference because you taught them and trained them, and the fact that you've been in the military it's exactly a plus for a better understanding of what risks there are when using a firearm. BTW in my precedent post I was speaking generally and not referring to your post (that's my mistake, I admit it, sometimes I forget to make the necessary distinctions). In my opinion I do think that it's better if children stay away from weapons for as long as possible, then when they are becoming mature they make their choice. Weapons are dangerous if/when loaded with live rounds, so even when one shoots in a range something can go wrong due to a series of variables. When I said that weapons are meant to kill, I meant (my English is repetitive and sucks, I know, thanks to Italy) that firearms have no brain in themselves, the brain is from the users, so it's all subjective. It's just my POV, you all can agree or disagree. My sincerely apologies to Dave.
  8. ISIS recruits from the UK

Maybe I'm listening to it without too much attention, because it seems to me that a minority of people doesn't mean anything at all when peaceful, but when armed and a real threat then it means something. I'd say it is a sad and cynical view of the world. Sorry if I'm going to politicize, but first of all I think that we (and by 'we' I mean all of us living in the Western world, don't care if Muslim, Christian, etc.) should consider how great hypocrites we are. Remember Bush Jr.'s executed invasion of Iraq (which many of us Europeans supported)? Good. Saddam was a bad dictator, like many others still existing in the world (unfortunately) but most likely he wasn't a low-down terrorist, as instead Bush and his administration suggested. With Saddam reigning over Iraq, ISIS wouldn't have happened. I'm not supporting dictatorships, I'm just wondering what kind of a motive we have to invade half of the world. By the way look at Libya: no Gaddafi, yes civil war. Great, now the world is a better place, again.
  9. 9 yr old kid shoots instructor with uzi..

What is beyond me is the fact that children are taught to use firearms; I don't care if it's an automatic UZI or a pistol. Weapons are meant to kill, they aren't toys, and a child is not able to fully understand this.
  10. Grazie, we really need more user made missions for SF2.
  11. Looking forward to it! TSF2 is simply one of the best expansions available for SF2, since it includes new content, rivalling to an extent the probably defunct TW.
  12. The model in the link is pirated, IIRC it is from InSky.
  13. Despite the fact that the game generates flights and parked aircraft according to the nations.ini, it seems that, for instance, Belgian planes take off from a French airbase and not from those of their country (GermanyCE terrain). I'm guessing this is a feature we should beg TK to add.
  14. Oohrah, Stary! Good to see you are back.
  15. Ditto that, sometimes the values are reversed, so longitude is latitude and vice versa. Malibu43, time ago I discovered what was causing problems with the latest SARCASM mod from Stary. It is a parameter you need to change in the environmentsystem.ini, check the link below (SARCASM file announcement thread) for further info on how to solve it. http://combatace.com/topic/79807-sarcasm-v-15/ Warthog64, IIRC the Modern Warfare Korea mod doesn't use Stary's mod, so just do what whiteknight06604 says.
  16. Hi all. Does anyone know if the game reads decals in the .dds format (of course after correcting the relevant .ini files in each skin folder)? I have a "rather large" mod folder of over 60GB, most if not all bitmaps were converted to .jpeg, but the decals folder alone is at least 30GB big, and I hate that. Second question: do you know where I can change the camera zoom in and zoom out values for each aircraft? For instance, unlike the stock Thirdwire aircraft, some 3rd party aircraft have some issues with the external camera views, if you zoom in too much you can see the "interior" of such aircraft. P.S.: for those who are wondering why my personal mod is 60GB, all I can tell is that I have combined most of the greatest mods ever released for SF2 (Full-5 Merged - none of the DLCs): TSF2, ODS, OTC, KAW, NATO Fighters, SF2V Expansion, Falklands mod and so on. I thank all the modders here at CombatAce, thanks to their efforts Strike Fighters is becoming something more, a Cold War anthology.
  17. I got the nvidia plugin. It works and has a lot of functions. Thanks for the tip.
  18. Robin Williams Found Dead!

Damn, I still can't believe it. His role and acting in "Dead Poets Society" was fantastic to say the least. A great actor and comedian, we will miss him for sure. RIP
  19. Absolutely awesome, a dream that becomes true!
  20. I didn't pay attention to the numbering so I guess you're right, maybe I'll have to stick to tgas. If you open both the tga and the dds files in a program like Paint.NET and you compare them, you'll notice that there is a slight loss of quality in the latter. If you zoom in you'll see that some small parts of the decal have dots of purple-ish colour, this happens with every dds file I've seen. BTW now I'd like to know what software do you use for conversions. Time ago I used Paint.NET, now I discovered XnView, it's better if you need to convert large quantities of files at the time. Unfortunately a dds plug-in that I have for Photoshop Elements doesn't work on my system, the program crashes and I don't know why.
  21. I've tried and it works, as long as one adds the ".dds" extension to each decal file listed in the decal.ini. This might be useful for those who would like to conserve space on their HD. However converting dds to tga also means that you will lose image quality, much more noticeable than the conversion from bmp to jpeg. I wonder if there's another alternative to tga and dds formats.
  22. It is only 60GB because I removed all the unnecessary files and converted the .bmp to .jpeg (I hate bitmaps taking all that space, jpegs are much better if the conversion is done right without loss of quality). Of course I'm planning to buy a new HD. BTW, good choice Wrench. I also have a WD external HD. That's where I store SF2 mods and backups. What about the camera views? Tomorrow I'll post my results about .dds decals.
  23. As far as I know yes. The weapon is included in the plane package made available by Wrench. Below I posted the link to download it, have fun with it. http://combatace.com/files/file/13710-what-if-sf2-lockheed-yf-12a-starduster-by-veltro2k/
  24. Operation Odyssey Dawn 2.0 HD Part 1

    Awesome! Thanks for sharing.
  25. F-35: The failed movie star

I totally agree. Of course I am not blaming the public opinion but the media which make people think one way and not the other (TV, movies and all that crap). Still I wonder if the X-32 was that bad, but we need another thread for such discussion.
