I think there should also be iOS/Android emulation systems that can be setup on PC... IIRC Fubar512(?) mentioned something a while back. Tried an android thingy myself and it worked pretty good. -

Stary you misunderstood me!:D It is good to see you put your skills to good use mate. (and nice to see strike fighters mentioned in the big leagues again) Modding and flying is addictive but it can also put a drain on RL (been there), it's always priority to balance them I reckon. Keep up the good work Stary. Might hafta get a tablet... -
Yep the 8 episodes didn't end in a cliffhanger indeed. And now that we know it's an adaptation, as long as they don't expand/alter the original storyline too much (the orig is just 2 seasons) it shouldn't be unfinished halfway so that is solid good news I reckon. Another show i'm following is Person of interest. Tbh it could have ended at the end of S4, but now there's an S5 and the wait is killer:X

Apparently it is remake of the Swedish TV "real humans". Gonna check it out and get ahead of the story arc:) Spoilers be damned. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4122068/trivia?tab=mc&ref_=tt_trv_cnn Although don't mind more Gemma Chan Katherine Parkinson and Emily Berrington:D Heck even the dudes in this are laid back and lovable.

Oh yes I'm in... so far the sci-fi is a bit soft but the plot and characters are quite interesting. Little gem of a show there. TV shows are so long tho... Really stretches one's patience. Hopefully this one's more compact.

Saw the pilot last night. Always like sci-fi and it is an old but classic subject. Gonna watch more of this!

I have a translated Chinese paper copy. But there's that Russian version I linked in the DCS forum. You can run Adobe OCR on it and use google translate.. it gets the job done. -

LtColJoeClark, Zhao's comment was refering to the 2 Sabre wings in Korea, the 4th and 51st. The 4th was generally known to have a yellow vertial fin. If the 16th sq, 51st FIW also used that paint scheme, I didin't know (and probably didn't Zhao either). For the general public I was refering to how you were treated by the 51st CO, your fellow pilots and what you read in the newspaper where, "we can beat them anyway we want", was the prevailing sentiment. That was the impression I got after reading the blog. As to the other population on earth, I'm sure that neither you nor I exist, for that matter:) For my Mig performance comments they were based on now published/translated soviet documents, mostly on translated soviet pilot manual. IIRC aileron control loss and buffeting became quite severe once past Mach 0.92, and total aileron control loss at Mach .98. How that translates into tactical situations is another matter however. I still think you "demonized" the Mig a bit over the top, but that is just my own opinion. -
In retrospect it would be better for them to base the remastered on HW1 engine I reckon, if it was at all feasible. Would likely end up pricier than 35 bucks though. I'm not gonna play the remastered HW1 and just gonna use the HW1 classic that came with the purchase.
-
Finally bought the remastered. (There's a saying in aviation - never trust the A version of anything, same applies to games. After a few patches and updates, tis the right time to go in! Unless ofc one is a hardcore enthusiast and willing to do the beta testing. Been there, done that and then some.) A little bit disappointed, but still within acceptable realm I think. The Homeworld 2 part is just a face lift. Nothing new IAW gameplay. The campaign is exactly the same. I was a little bored re-playing all the same missions. But firstly the UI becomes a little bit easier with the GFX update, I dunno what they did, but there's definitely an improvement there. (Still had to mod "camera.lua" to reduce camera zoom jump.) Also there're modding tools made on relicnews forums for this new game and I was able to try out some of my own mods. Lastly, the facelift can surely be appreciated. Things look much... much nicer. The Homeworld 1 part is more problematic. Essentially it is a porting over of 1's units into 2's engine. So there comes with a lot of balancing issues. More importantly many of the merits of the HW1 engine was not integrated at all. It seems there's an understanding on some level that the original HW1 engine was better, and HW2 was more of a graphics advancement than gameplay. Fortunately never played HW1 as it was too ancient for me but... it sure is one heck of a shame from the sound of it. Also it is stable. There had been no freezes, crashes or glitches. It plays quite smooth on the default graphics settings. Guess it is more for myself after becoming phobic to those after using all the alpha/beta state flight sims , as well as the original HW2 that required some tuning to work on modern systems. All in all it is not a "grand" slam, essentially a glorified 3rd party mod based on HW2 engine, from the looks of it. But on this, I reckon Gearbox has done a good job. It is most beneficial to players who haven't played the original HW series IMO, especially HW2. For the returning players the experience is diminished somewhat due to the lack of new SP content but it's nice to have the memories revisited. Old HW1 players will be most disappointed among them probably... What pushed me over the edge was something trivia. I read on the relicnews foras about a bug, that a missed missile exploding will do more damage to the target, than if it was a hit. As the OP of that thread said, I agree it would be a big balancing issue. He reported the bug to the devs, got the reply that it would be "looked into", and there was no further news in that thread. Standard developer reply to fend off annoying players, thought to myself. This was back in March. Then I went over to the steam updates webpage and searched the update log, and found this bug was then fixed in May.

Wings over Korea (1 of 3)
Do335 replied to Do335's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Well then I don't understand. If you can fly the campaign it means the terrain is there. And if you've done the bolded part the terrain should also show up in the single mission list, irregardless of NA is installed or not. Hopefully Wrench the terrain master can have more ideas. Meanwhile check you've put the files from No NA folder in the right place. Open Terrains\Korea3\Korea3.ini, and make sure ";NavalMap=TRUE" is indeed in there. (It must be with the ";", or you can simply delete this line if it bothers much..)- 121 replies

Magua, check install step 4. I would assume that you do not have SF2NA and missed the bolded step. And when posting about problems it usually helps to provide more info, like what you did, what you see and what shows/doesn't show up. We're not at your computer and mostly can only guess, and there're a plethora of possibliities...- 121 replies

Well, Wrench, I'm still quite curious. Apparently some have this problem and some don't. Never had it myself but I imagine it is rather annoying!... Do both of you have your installs in C drive? I wonder if it could be the reason. Anyway guess I'll cross that bridge when it comes to it....- 121 replies

Wings over Korea (1 of 3)
Do335 replied to Do335's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Apparently we have the classic "inis constantly rewritten everytime game is launched" problem. Here is the lastest thread!.... (and there were various posts about it in other ones) http://combatace.com/topic/86529-update-aircraft-list-sf2/?do=findComment&comment=697641 I couldn't ponder out what would be the cause, reckon it's likely to be an OS level thing... In the Korea install luckily only the Mig-15 and Mig-15Bis is affected, perhaps set their inis to read-ony would solve it (among many suggestions posted by other guys but.. nothing concrete it seems). Far as I can tell, new inis are outputted whenever the EXE detects it has access to new .CATs, so when: fresh install, every CAT is new; a new exe is made, to this .exe every .CAT is new; updates, DLC installs, also new .CATs. So repeated ini outputs means the old .CATs are not recognized. So... registry problem? User account security problem?... This is far as I got.- 121 replies

Wings over Korea (1 of 3)
Do335 replied to Do335's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Thanks Emp_Palpatine, it looks like the mig somehow turned back to AI only... Perhaps check to make sure the game actually can call up its cockpit. i.e. check Mig-15.ini in the aircraft folder and see if it has this line CockpitDataFile=Mig-15_cockpit.ini and there's indeed a Mig-15_cockpit.ini file in there. And make sure the cockpit folder is present.- 121 replies

Problem adding custom nation and squadron to TSF OMS campaign
Do335 replied to shomu1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
[airunit024], [airunit031], [airunit032] and [airunit035] are all missiong... more sequencing problems... edit: OK I can confirm it is due to the messed up Airunit sequence. I added the TW F-14A like you and got the swedish service marking. Instead I added the F-14 to [airunit024] and USN markings showed up OK. Ideally it is best to re-sort the unit list in the campaign data ini but, I suppose adding it to the Airunit024 slot will do for your purpose. -
Problem adding custom nation and squadron to TSF OMS campaign
Do335 replied to shomu1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Looks like a UnitID sequence problem. Try [uSNUnit001] UnitName=VF-103 Jolly Rogers ForceID=1 UnitID=17//<---change this StartDate=03/05/2014 DescFile=RNL1.txt StartText=IBSTART.txt AircraftType=F-14B_96 My reason being Unitid count are separate for either side. So although in the data.ini the F-14 squadron has [Airunit043], it is the 17th down the list for blue units. Similarly if one wants to add red side Mig-29C_rus of the "1th Fighter Regiment" to the player flyable list it would have UnitID=1 instead of 16.
