  1. Didn't iran move the wings upwards a little bit for the sagheah?
  2. The Person Below Me

False, I was flying the blinder in front of you. Ther person below me is the one who actually does what he says the person below him does.
  3. Break up of United States?

hahahahaha! Ok, I can see massive unrest because of the economic downturn, but splitting? not in a million years. The only end I can see of the US is integration into a larger political entity, like that NAU stuff....it worked out pretty well in Europe, but the EU countries were more of a level playing field to begin with. Canada and the US might be able to form a political and economic union, but Mexico needs to develop more before any realistic integration would be possible. A little bit of trivia though: Many places in NYC are actually starting to accept the Euro as currency with the large ammount of tourism from Europe.
  4. 3ds Max 9 for $149.95

So you're paying $150 to download a 30-day trial you can get for free directly from autodesk. If you're a student (or teacher) you can get an educational license for something like $600. Can't sell any work though, that was my method for getting 3ds, father teaches various computer classes at a college.
  5. Wow......DCS Blackshark

Who needs DCS when you've got a heavily modded EECH? It's not as pretty, but the drama is nonexistant. ED's behavior is pretty typical of russian companies, 1C Maddox is the same way. And one big caveat, Russia is the software piracy capital of the world. And they are overhauling the DRM for the western market? When will business get it? TK's method might be easy to pirate, but who actually would? No invasive DRM and hostile company policy, minimal piracy.
  6. I heard it was generally believed that if sh*t hit the fan, the swedes would take our side and their neutrality wouldn't have been able to last. Otherwise, pretty sweet! soviet satellites have been sorely missing in campaigns.
  7. Spectacular fireball lights up the night

Eh, I'm not terribly worried about an impact having as devastating an effect as all the discovery channel shows make it out to be. We've been hit since humanity has been around and guess what? we're still here! And in the old days, we didn't quite have the resources we have now. Sticks and fire only go so far. Besides, we took our statistical 1 every hundred thousand years hit a hundred years ago. A meteor or comet came crashing down over siberia (tunguska) It blew up before hitting the ground and the effect was similar to a nuclear explosion. If it hit (or another) my bet would be serious earthquakes and huge tsunami or ash getting thrown up like Mt. St. Helens or Santorini back in ancient times. Devastating, yes, but not this "oh noes everything will go extinct like the dinosaurs!" nuclear winter-esque stuff.
  8. Personal Super Computers!

SLI motherboards, 4 GPUs, 8gb of memory? HOLY ****!! Hello crysis maxed at 100fps
  9. Beautiful! It will almost be a shame to shoot down a flight of these with a Genie.
  10. Fun Week Ahead

Looks like I'm going to be having alot of fun later this week. As I've mentioned a few times, I participate in these Model UN conferences arguing over international relations and trying to solve problems. I'm slated to once again travel for this a few days from now. Would just like to share why I'm excited and why people here would be interested to hear. Currently, I'm going to be in a committee outside of the UN. I'll be representing Greece in NATO. Our subjects of debate are the role of nato in the world, and nato expansion. Further, they are going to have Russia, Georgia and Ukraine represented without a vote. So naturally we're going to have to deal with South Ossetia, Abkhazia and the Crimea. Not to mention the situation with missiles and the Polish border. Very cool. Thought people would be interested to hear, and also I was wondering if anyone knew the particular types of missiles we're planning on stationing in Poland, as what russia is. Similarly, does anyone know much of what is going on in greece's military? The research guide mentions a growing disparity between military capabilities of EU and US. While I've got alot of current stuff (like an entire order of battle) I was wondering if anyone knew if Greece was looking at joining things like the JSF program or Eurofighter, and if anyone knows whether they plan to replace the M-16s they've been using?
  11. First Pictures of Extrasolar Planets

Well it's still not sure under what conditions life can and can't exist. And also, habitable is relative to us. We couldn't live on a planet with a vastly different gravity, but what is to say other forms of life that developed there couldn't survive? it would be the "normal" gravity for them. We might have discovered fossilized bacterial life on Mars, in a chunk of Mars rock discovered here. But it very easily could be contaminated, or just microscopic shapes that look like fossilized bacteria. Europa is another chance in our solar system actually, it's believed there's liquid water under the icy surface, and water is step 1 for life. Titan also is supposed to have an atmosphere very similar to the early years of Earth under which life developed. A game I got not long ago (X3 terran conflict) actually has a bio of the Jupiter orbit sector saying they found life in it's atmosphere. Now 1950's SciFi life in our solar system is definitely out, but I'm still holding hopes for microbial life. Not a terribly long stretch considering the places life manages here, like undersea volcanic geysers.
  12. Fun Week Ahead

Thanks for the info guys. I'm back, no awards unfortunately. The awards ceremony was basically a circle jerk of the big name ivy league schools, despite a very mixed performance by them. I did pretty well personally, particularly debating modernizing the georgian and ukrainian militaries with a aerospace weapons engineering student from the US naval academy.
  13. Fun Week Ahead

Thanks! Would you happen to know the specific model of missile we're putting in? Also, would anyone (maybe our polish friends here) have any details of how poland managed the integration to NATO with all the logistics and technical requirments in the STANAGs? like what happened with all the AKs with 7.62 or 5.45 cartridges when faced with the requirment of 5.56 rifles?
  14. OMG!

    wow thats an ugly girl.
  15. Just posing a question for everyone. Would there be any interest in sets of aircraft skins that are fictional, but based off of historical schemes used in different air forces or time periods? Maybe an example would help explain. Fates posted a pic of an F-16 with a USAAC scheme with bright blue fuselage and yellow wings and 1930's roundels. I mean doing skins like that, or similar. A few examples using the F-14 and making early USN, WW2 colors, various airforce schemes as well as for other countries like Germany, UK or france? The idea was sparked by the thought "How would these planes look if they had been exported to X country, or if Y country had continued using this paintscheme, or had used a modern scheme when the aircraft was still in service?"
  16. I wonder if they've enabled any more DX10 effects in DX9. Both Stalker: clear sky and far cry 2 actually have working god rays in DX9.
  17. Noobs are fun

Not all that stupid if they were trying to fire a sparrow with weapons set to hard.
  18. Why I dislike the new James Bond movie

Dalton was an awesome bond, he still had some sillyness, but had more seriousness. But Daniel Craig is doing a great job. At first I didn't like the idea of him doing bond, but after watching Casino Royale I was quite satisfied. The only thing was , he didn't quite have the bond swagger or any of the classic bond things like moneypenny and Q that had been around even for the sean connery films. The Gadgetry was going beyond over the top in the latest movies, but its been a staple of the series since the beginning, just not as rediculous. The invisible car and all that s**t was just too much. The earlier gadgets were better, more plausible and more like the crazy things the CIA really was cooking up during that era. But the last two movies pierce brosnan did(and the ones roger moore did) were becoming terribly comic, barely distinguishable from its austin powers parodying or Get Smart. Though the bad blond chick was pretty hot.
  19. BLUE ANGELS down 1 plane

"There is nothing on this earth sexier, believe me, gentlemen, than a woman you have to salute in the morning. Promote 'em all, I say, 'cause this is true: if you haven't gotten a blowjob from a superior officer, well, you're just letting the best in life pass you by. " - Jack Nicholson
  20. addiction

I'm going almost two weeks now. First X3 terran conflict, then Far Cry 2 and now Fallout 3.
  21. What is your Favorite midnight snack?

Also with dave on the oreos. Cheetos if I don't need my hands for anything. A little bowl of honey roasted peanuts, cereal or any small fingerfood also does the trick.
  22. Hang over cures....Whats yours?

It's not an illness unless it's out of control. Yeah yeah, alcoholics think they have control over it. Aside from social events I rarely drink....just another beverage. Can't say the same for many of my peers though.
  23. Hang over cures....Whats yours?

Another natural immunity to it. Went to the bar with a buddy last weekend. Woke up 8:30am feeling hungry but otherwise perfect, he was too hung over to roll out of bed until 3pm.
