  1. Ordering WOFF soon

Great glad you are sorted MudWasp48
  2. Not that I an condoning but bear in mind the DM system is completely re-written under the hood even though it may appear to work similarly. But to make things tougher you could (simplest method in theory) is decrease the damage done by bullets. all in C:\WOFF\WOFFScenery\Difficulty\Normal\mainbullets (air ones are for the air obviously) but there's a lot of work recreating .bdp files blah so actually quite longer to do. or edit 4856656522 aircraft XDP files for example areas like this <Box ID="damagebox_fuselage" Parent="damagebox_fuselage"> <BoxMap SystemID="center_fuel_tank" Probability="1" Points="10"/> <BoxMap SystemID="fuselage_structure" Probability="99" Points="50"/> </Box> to say <Box ID="damagebox_fuselage" Parent="damagebox_fuselage"> <BoxMap SystemID="center_fuel_tank" Probability="1" Points="10"/> <BoxMap SystemID="fuselage_structure" Probability="99" Points="100"/> </Box> Things may break though obviously.
  3. Is CFS3 worth trying?

No you don't need to reinstall CFS3 for WOFF, if CFS3 is already installed. When installing WOFF it will ask you for CFS3 on CD/DVD or installed.. and dadaa you already have it installed so point it there. You also don't need CFS3 installed even if your CFS3 CD/DVD is v3.1 (most CFS3 in recent years is already v3.1).
  4. Ordering WOFF soon

OK well done. I believe it's sent from the US, the standard is to wait 7 -10 working days but it would usually be sooner for where you are. Don't forget you have the download option too.
  5. 1st May 2014: WINGS: Over Flanders Fields - New Update patch V1.25 Please see the website Downloads section. http://www.overflandersfields.com/Downloads.html If you cannot see the new patch press Ctrl+F5 in your browser to update your browser's cached version of the Download page. Remember the latest update always INCLUDES all previous fixes and new features. This means after a brand new install or with any previous version installed you just need the latest patch to be fully up to date! The "History of Changes" link on the Downloads page always contains all the detail for all patch updates released. http://www.overflandersfields.com/HistoryofChanges.html Changes for your convenience; 01 May 2014 Ver 1.25 4207.03 1) Air-starting an escort mission sometimes results in aircraft collisions between escorter and escortee flight - fixed. 2) Bug with Late type DH2 skins fixed. 3) Strutters can now be claimed in 1918 (French Squads used them well into 1918 despite the RFC/RAF withdrawing them from front line duty end of 1917) 4) Balloon Busting missions: Squadron Flight 'balloon damaged criteria' too stringent and so often the correct designated balloon was not being credited. 5) Improved assigned mission ground targets criteria for AI kill credit.

We have used Avangate for several years and never had a report of "identity theft" however maybe use one of the other methods they list. There are lots of ways to buy the sim from Avangate, Visa/mastercard/Eurocard, Paypal, JCB, Bank/Wire transfer, American Express and others. Most people just buy it no problems with cc or paypal whatever. I think you can pay via paypal with a credit card
  7. CA-WW1 - Wings of War

Great write up 33Lima! One note: copying the old skins from P3 in may "work" for some craft but others it won't as they have had model changes. Also in the new skins pack available on our website a vast number of skins have been overhauled, improved or new ones added, so worth having for those who have not yet got it.
  8. Andy73 there's no secret bug in WOFF for 'stuttering' that one day we will magically fix. So we can't "fix" it. PC's and their drivers, hardware and software and graphic settings vary greatly and obviously you need to find the sweet spot on your particular setup. See the FAQ for eliminating and improving performance - there are also tips from people in the technical section on the forum at SimHQ. Olham I think you mean "OFF" in your comment?
  9. CombatACE WOFF Video

Great stuff, thanks to the guys that worked on it.
  10. CA-WW1 - Sagittarius Rising

Excellent write up 33Lima and some good thinking in the heat of battle.
  11. One other point in training, the instructor messages won't appear top of the screen but if you bring up the TAC display your instructor will talk to you via that, includes such things as where to fly and how, and what speed and so on.
  12. It's a great thing he is doing letting enthusiasts who may never get to fly in one a taste of what it's like, complete with excellent info. He answers the sort of questions people often have, great stuff.
  13. Returned to OFF...

Install the patches you can still get the old files from a section on the new WOFF website. There's a link on the front page, but.. http://www.overflandersfields.com/Previous.html Install the 1.32 and 1.32g updates, then click on "graphics config" in workshop. See the old Phase 3 FAQ too right at the start goes over all this. FAQ found on that page too. Step by step under " 1) HINTS AND TIPS 1.1) INSTALLATION SETTINGS AND GRAPHICS" Or better still get WOFF and be blown away with it (and the much easier setup and config ;) )
  14. WW1 photo's (unseen)

Superb UK_W thanks, makes you realise how many 1000s of photos must get chucked out each year all round the world not captured by a someone like him. He also only saw ones he noticed falling out, or in the back of the lorry so must be more even he missed.
  15. Full interview with Cecil Lewis

Yes for once well done to the BBC for digging these out, wonderful to see him in the flesh so to speak. Also Norman Macmillan is a great interview too, him flying through a "tunnel" of arcing shell fire ground straifing - sounded like it really hit home the horrors.
  16. Many thanks for a thorough review 33Lima - the detail we put in there needs a reviewer to take some time to absorb and explain and you have done a great job of that.
  17. WOFF FM Thread

For sure so many variables and few definitive answers :/. The weather was bad around 16/17th December in France not sure what it was like in UK or that specific area who knows - we don't even know if it was specifically a fine day in the area of the test or a particularly cold day. Same applies to any recorded figures out there from that time at least, and most modern 'replicas' are obviously not quite the same. As you say any given aircraft each day would produce a different test result then - sometimes wildly.

Sop Triplane 130Hp was fast, Lamberton 117@ 5000ft. The War in the Air H.A Jones 116 @6500ft K Munson 116 @ 6500ft AC in Profile 187kph@2000m approx 116@6500. Wiki 117 mph (187 km/h) at 5,000 ft (1,830 m) Sopwith Triplane Aces of WW1 Norman Franks, "120mph at 10000ft. " "...and as Dallas and the RNAS test pilots had discovered, the combination of this motor (130HP Clerget) and the Triplane's unique wing arrangement gave this machine a phenomenal rate of climb, exemplary manoeuvrability and a top speed of 120mph at 10000ft. (!) "as Naval Pilots found in 1917, the Triplane was generally 15 mph faster than the German Albatros DIII fighter, and the Sopwith machine could out-climb out-turn it." As always plenty of fudge around and debatable points and contradictory information, but there are a few.
  19. Sure Olham more sense if it's only the loss you are commemorating, and I am sure they will have an event for that too, but the start is a pretty world shattering significant date is it not? So it's very appropriate to remember it and hopefully by doing so other war starts may be avoided, even if one is then it's worth while.
  20. I think usually it's a remembrance here in the UK rather than a "celebration", the word is used loosely if in that context, or we celebrate the men and women in wars who sacrificed - not the war itself.
  21. WOFF FM Thread

We are looking at the DV (and other Albatros craft at the moment) to see if there are any errors or improvements we can make - no promises of course but we also do not want to end up with unbalance either, something we did work on since the beginning of P1 even!
  22. WOFF FM Thread

Just to clarify some things. Adding 2 degrees to the lower wing will not achieve what you think it will. We missed it because it will make no real difference in sim. The *.xfm txt file does part of the job - RexH's code interprets the data as required by the sim. For example the Gyro makes little difference to inline engines as he deals with it differently. Regarding breaking AI - it's not a red herring, we do not make daft statements for no reason . The AI are trained on every FM. RexH designed the AI and new FM changes so he should know. AI may break at various places, including when damaged, altitude, different formations or in rare situations etc, odd manoeuvres or other strange behaviour. The fact it's OK well lucky :) Just because some sources say x and 1 says y doesn't make the 1 wrong obviously but I am not going to get into a debate - also sometimes we chose to go various for all sorts of reasons, or because it makes sense to the AI or other reasons. The Merc engine was upgraded and improved all along for sure, we do not have many variants of each craft unfortunately. For every stat one way there are others another way, we think the balance is pretty good but yes you may not.
  23. Most of us just press some buttons and look at the key guide or key bindings ;) Heck I even did that in BF4
  24. Also there is the experimental observer view ("J"). See the FAQ on usage.
  25. My first skin...

Here I am at 12.20 am and need sleep just not enough hours in the day to keep posting in many forums often and keep working on WOFF so much wish I could. If you need to post all WW1 stuff and other sims then perhaps the forum name should be changed to "WW1 stuff?"
