DVD Version of "Combat Flight Simulator 3" by Ubisoft
Polovski replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
As long as it's an original that's fine, we wouldn't want anyone copying CFS3 DVDs or OFF for that matter guys, we need all the support we can get... -
HELP a newbie: CFS3 and OFF won't run (quite suddenly !
Polovski replied to sparrowhawkms's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
The trick is to find out what changed. Something on your PC changed to make a working program suddenly stop. Also as the error seems to be asking about CFS3 CD not being found? - daft question but is it in your drive and is it clean? The CFS3 one that is (do you have the correct one in as there are two CDs often)? If you do have the correct CD in, try cleaning it, gently. We do not check here too often so otherwise best to email support (see FAQ) with your order details, if it is not an issue with the CD sounds like you may have ot reinstall after doing a clean uninstall if files or you OS have become corrupted somewhere (hard drive OK?) -
Windows 7 OFFMan fatal error
Polovski replied to bdoubled's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Did you install all the patches for BH&H first ? Email support with the version of OFF you have, and if you have HITR etc. You also need to set them to run in XP compatibility mode not just run as administrator, did you do that? As a test you need to disable the Anti Virus programs to test. Avast has also has had problems in the past, and I have not heard of the other two so disable those (disconnect from Internet when testing of course). I see you emailed support so will deal with it there. -
That "All you need" part on the front page is hardly an in depth install guide ;) it is a generic overview for a new user walking in off the street and having no idea what OFF is. basically "hello new user, here's a rough idea of the basics you need to buy". You know the score OFF has always had patches to install. Simple click on DOWNLOADS button top of the page, or see the FAQ right near the top as I say. If you do not patch you will have problems. If you reinstall HITR over the top at the very lest you need its patch. Probably best to nuke and start over if you still have issues, if reset OFF and reset CFS3 don't work.

Early days with Mission Builder...
Polovski replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
The reason you cannot see in the cockpit is because you are flying an AI craft. They have no cockpits. Also see http://www.overflandersfields.com/FAQ.htm#A4M and see below that for info under "Mission Builders notes" Also that answer explains how to choose correct front lines for your mission date. You can also click "Help" in Quick Scenarios too for setting front lines date. -
Hauksbee there's no issue with HITR. We have seen no reports in years of things like this being completely common. Just the occassional issue which are 99% of the time down to PCs themselves are a million times less reliable than OFF so I'd blame the PC first. Corrupt files on hard drive, issues/clashes other programs whatever. The millions of PCs out there run a huge amount of random settings and software and hardware so is not surprising. 2 people saying they had similar things happen doesn't make 1000s of installs wrong so stay calm and carry on ;) When the manager says "re-install OFF" it's a recommended suggestion for a solution if you do not have personal support on hand it will work. It WILL solve most issues :) However a good CLEAN installation of OFF removing all of it, as in the FAQ, then reinstalling carefully as the FAQ spells out in well known clear steps http://www.overflandersfields.com/FAQ.htm Click on Installation and Settings http://www.overflandersfields.com/FAQ.htm#Installation_and_settings From time to time CFS3 can break or lose the pilot or settings, not usually OFF. That is why there are options in Workshop as Olham kindly correctly points out "Reset OFF" and if that doesn't work "Reset CFS3" which is lower level and a deeper reset of files. Not sure why you think you do not need patches for BH&H or HITR, if you ever need to reinstll you should inatall all of it, not just overlay HITR on the top - although sure that MAY work sometimes if you then patch it. One ALWAYS needs to patch BH&H and then install HITR and then install any HITR patches whne doing a proper clean install. See FAQ link. If you get that error again sometime, do as Olham suggests, or create a new pilot and try etc. For anyone with any mods installed and we can't help though and a re-install may be the only solution. That message means that some files in the SE5a model folders are not correct, or the program's ability to read them is being blocked or altered. A good start is to check your hard disks for any file errors (Scandisk, chkdisk etc).

I see you have help on Simhq.com but for anyone else reading later I'll repost my reply there ... "Hi Kentcol, see the FAQ for troubleshooting tips.. no.7 step is easiest to try first. http://www.overflandersfields.com/FAQ.htm#A25"

Add on planes not showing up
Polovski replied to Alexander51's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Welcome Alexander48. User made/3rd party aircraft will not show up in the OFF Manager. It only shows official aircraft as we also have to do a lot of background work - customise much of the world, squads, skins, missions etc to match. You can only fly 3rd party aircraft via "CFS3 QC" (Workshop setting, click go back to Quick Combat and fly an aircraft/anything, and when you are in CFS3 mode you can change the aircraft - will them appear IN SIM in the left hand menu. This will be using the Original CFS3 Quick Combat mode. OR copy and edit a mission in OBDSoftware\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\missions\scenarios\<country> (country is pilot nation). Then it will show in Quick Scenarios. -
Spawning Friendly and Enemy Flights
Polovski replied to Panama Red's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
"Spawning" refers to actions based on a trigger, i.e. player flies to point x so randomly plonk some enemy nearby (like they had Scotty on the Star ship Enterprise teleport them in). eerkk. You may observe that in some sims, where you look at a space and know it is clear for 10 miles, then turn back 1 second later to find incoming hostile aircraft spawned in that space. CFS3 had this, as do most sims out there too, but OFF removes them and assigns real campaign missions as WM states above. But all flights out there then get on with their mission as assigned, whether the player passes by or not they continue. Of course it's daft to start them all on the ground as that would be unrealistic too unless we only let you fly once per real 12 hours and make you wait 30 mins or an hour for your flight ;) There is landing in P3 but CFS3 is handling it, especially as it flies miles away first, and we put ahem trees in forests / near our fields just like real life. They tend to not like those when landing :) WOFF is brand new AI and do land (and much more) .. -
A OBD "Bonus" I'd like to see
Polovski replied to CaptSopwith's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Lol can't be me HPW I don't tidy up like he has... -
Not heard of anyone getting charged before with OFF but I guess possible. Anyway the product is charged for at time of purchase in your local region and local VAT etc taxes applied (if applicable) so I think it may be possible to reclaim anything if that happened. For example anyone in the European Union gets charged Euro VAT rate. Best to speak with Avangate who are the distributors with any questions as they handle that side of things for us.

Thanks Dave we appreciate your support a lot. We are working round the clock at the moment but pop in to post here too of course. UK_W totally understand no problem. As to the beer tab it's always open in this officers mess! whiteknight06604 there was nothing shady in us moving at all from anyone.
-
Thanks Guys. We explained why we moved, and even Alex (MK2) who originally, as the owner CA, invited us to CA kindly commented that he totally understood the decision to move, and also posted about SimHQ being a good place to be. Some comments http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3575057/3.html (MK2 is 5th & 8th posts). One thing whiteknight06604 I must comment on. Integrity is very important to us, and there were NO "shady" reasons AT ALL to move.

Looks pretty good - as long as it's very comfortable worth considering. Let us know Sid if you try it :)

Strange one Jim, we use skype no problem all the time and TIR works fine in OFF. PC's for ya.. Make sure you use latest TrackiR software and update game support and skype latest maybe.

Who's the Aussie that got von Richtofen?
Polovski replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Great info JFM always. Riflemen having a pop? I would. If a fancy triplane heads my way and I spent months in mud holes I'm having a pop don't care what the chances are - I'd probably throw my last tin of beef at him. With all the other partial facts yes it is doubtful if Brown fired the major hit but nevertheless not impossible and so cannot be ruled out, maybe he wounded him before. Also as bullets can deflect we will never truly know anyway there are plenty of angled metal parts in the DR1. So no one firing at him can be ruled out really. MvR could easily have done a split second partial flat turn right to avoid fire, or maybe with left wing down to look down - revealing the underarm and angle. This would not just be for Brown but for other rifle shots. Wasn't he wounded more than once, and was not subject to a full post mortem? If so maybe it could be considered a shared kill. -
You need to run cfsconfig and set aircraft sliders to 5 firstly, also go to workshop in OFF Manager there is an option there for high res skins. Note you will not see bullet hits with high res.
-
If you did not run OFF when you had only 1 or two monitors attached for this install, then maybe try turning off a monitor, running OFF, seeing if the manager looks OK then exit, then setup the 3 monitors and run again. If you are using 3rd party setup there may be options and settings to exclude offmanager.exe or assign to 1 monitor whatever, Also with 1 monitor on, maybe go into workshop settings and change the OFFmanager to use other propertion/widescreen or other setting there. Just because vanilla cfs3.exe ran, it has nothing to do with how "OFFmanager.exe" will appear. It just means that when you finally launch a mission from OFFmanager that the runtime using cfs3.exe should work.

Who's the Aussie that got von Richtofen?
Polovski replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
There is no 100% proof just good theories, and so we cannot totally rule out anything. I still think MvR could have rolled /banked at some point and been hit from anywhere including Brown. He could have been shot a few minutes earlier and managed to carry on with his willpower - very strong guy mentally obviously. Even something like 35-40 degrees bank or combined with slight dive angle whatever would give the rear under arm exposed. He could even have been leaning forward or trying to unjam a gun. Everyone always assumes he was perfectly horizontal all the time. Maybe the bullet dropped as Jarhead says. Maybe brown fired from great distance out of frustration and it got help from a ricochet. Maybe off Popkin's bullet ;) Also he was hit by a "lucky" long range shot previously in the head by one of those 2 seaters he loved to shoot down. -
You can't Jim - serious hacking needed and I wont explain that one ;) I think one or two people may have done so but if it breaks er..
-
Not sure Aroth not been reported before as far as I know. You can always try delete all pilots from workshop, and make a fresh one and see. Also make sure you have updated to the latest patches (see FAQ for help on that).

Disappearing prop disc and time compression frustration
Polovski replied to redpiano's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I think this thread has run it's course. Been discussed many times. Props have been in the FAQ for some time under KNOWN ISSUES COMMON TO BH&H and HITR: .... b) Blurred Propellers do not show from Virtual Cockpit (VC) or may flicker when viewed at an angle– currently not fixable due to shorter distance for eye point to propeller in WW1 craft. " The VC is a special area that is not the same visual space as the Lod100 model. Sometimes some items encroach in a way that makes them vanish. Not all objects do but some do. Props for example do. Shorter noses on WW1 craft than WW2 don't help. Rockets in some instances, we may be able to fix we shall see. Props one day maybe. We have improved lots, and will keep doing and improving/fixing/adding, given infinite years and support from people buying OFF.
