If you are overclocking your CPU (and if you have a 2500K why wouldn't you ;) ) try less o/c or less taxing settings. Update sound drivers, being a simulator OFF uses CPU AND memory heavily compared to some other programs.

Hi Guys, Uncleal has very kindly dug through documents to put together the lost hints and tips for new OFF'ers he created over many moons. It's a fair few pages so the only problem it needs a volunteer to go through them and tidy links as necessary and cut and paste/repost in single posts into a stick area. May be possible to group some posts or something. Not too tricky just time will take a little while. Just we are knee deep at the moment so any volunteers for me to send the doc to for that?

Thanks Slarti! You just got it in before I closed :)

Indeed :). Ok I'll close this one for the moment thanks guys.

OK thanks very much Lou - will send you a PM.

Throttle management jumps always to 50%
Polovski replied to Creaghorn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Rather odd thing to do though so I'm not surprised something odd happens ;) . In WW1 that would be mostly impossible or you'd snap something. -

Yes odd, I guess it's similar to the F3 view which seems to remember what you set previously too. -

Interesting one glad you found it - yes in bomb aim you can steer the aircraft slowly too so did they feel sluggish too ;) ? -

Sounds like an odd mapping set in the controls / joystick software (if any). Maybe something else is mapped to throttle too somewhere (numpad/view key?). -
Small point but if it's regarding a mod, it would be good if you name the mod in the question - there's been a few few questions regarding mod issues and new people may get confused.

Strange Observation Balloon
Polovski replied to theultimat's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
War is confusing for sure. Looks like someone got confused as to where they were. Probably just a glitch in the matrix but sometimes you will find enemy troops in a "safe" area. Makes you realises the lines could change in small areas all the time. -
Brand new DM and FM now ready!

P1 / P2 had similar large engine damage as HPW has now, and oil leaks, fuel leaks etc in earlier places, long flying flamers then appear more often as is the case with it. Along the way we had many votes on damage and we are where we are. Anyway we will as always try our best to make it as best as possible, we can do no more, last I'm saying here back to work. -

It's the sound you hear for ANY damage though that makes you think the engine is broken. There is usually a solid NOSE damage box in front of many engines too. It is smaller than that of the nose to represent the fact that bullets can go through the nose (spinner etc) to the engine. We could make them much bigger of course (and that would make it hard for guys who like to fire from observer seat to bring down the craft chasing you) but P4 is different in many respects so we shall see how it goes. -

The "engine" has many soft parts, cables, wires, liquids, electrics, all around etc it's not just a block. However the damagebox is as I say correct size wise. All you can do is make AI aim worse an engine hit is an engine hit (or several). Set less accurate gunnery in workshop or use a mod to make it even worse sure. You hear the engine damage on ANY engine damage. It may well fly on for 2 weeks or 2 minutes it does NOT mean your engine is broken. Maybe the best things is to remove the broken engine sound? Yes we can make tiny damage boxes, some will like, and some will moan that they fired 4000 rounds and saw all the bullets pass through the engine (it will also pass by a small box easily and likely just hit something else soft like a pilot). The problem also is many people here are veterans of OFF, so now what was hard is very easy, very hard to balance for all people from all experiences and we do try. There are a lot of differences in Phase 4 but P3 is what it is. -

Just for the record, the engine hit box is often the same or even slightly smaller than the actual engine as it is in each craft and it's considered to other parts around it. It doesn't make sense Olham as the whole point of HPW's mod is to make engines much tougher (as we used to have it). -
No it's not possible to change in Phase 3. Some missions types you will be told to lead. As TSmoke says it's war and you do what you are told ;)
-
For BH&H and HITR you can edit the actual mission by text in he missions\historical folder usually - if you know what you are doing (there is an actual "BHaH Mission Building" sub forum - check that out probably the best idea. http://combatace.com/forum/206-over-flanders-fields/ You can alter the flight density etc in workshop too. There is also a Mission Builder.

OFF DOES check your claim wording so don't dismiss that. You can still get claims confirmed with poor content but the better and more accurate data you enter the more likely. See the FAQ there are question/answers on it.

Might be worth a decent virus scan too by the sounds of it. -

Polovski replied to themightysrc's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
Check you don't have something deleting or interfering with OFF.dll. It should reside in your CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields folder no where else. Otherwise sounds like corrupt install. Check your hard drive for errors, and if all else fails you will need a good clean out and proper reinstall. -
Also make sure you exit the mission with ESC then END MISSION or you will get no claim form. Some info here http://www.overflandersfields.com/FAQ.htm#4%29_Claims_for_kills

How to test if my kills are being registered?
Polovski replied to Javito1986's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Yes OFF does track what you do - we can only use some data in P3, but P4 mmmmmm.. Check your claim settings in Workshop, but on default setting you need to enter details about your kill - this has been covered many times in the forum so best to search. Also see http://www.overflandersfields.com/FAQ.htm#MISCELLANEOUS_QUESTIONS Answer A35 Also see "4) Claims for kills" under section "1.2) Game Play Hints" -
OBD has made a contribution too - I did post a mention yesterday but seems to have been lost. Thanks for all your help CA & admins !

Thanks Dave. OBD Software has made a donation to help some, we don't have huge funds but do very much appreciate CA and all the admins what they have done for us. We hope it will help some too. (Will PM you the name used Dave)
