  1. MFC71.dll missing

Old programs still need their old dlls. Apart from some major things like DirectX which has backwards compatibility many programs will need Visual C+ 2005 2007 2008 etc or whatever they were written to use. If you plonk that DLL in you may then find some other DLL is missing still , so you need to install another older version of .NET probably or google a lot to check. Easiest thing is to do a system restore backup point first, then copy in the dll to try.
  2. Your fantasy vs. the OFF reality?

We try to give you what the pilot sees in the craft, warts and all :) Many craft had terribly cramped cockpits and poor view. That's why on paper something seems to be super, and often thought of as amazing until you actually get to fly it and then reality of the bad points hit home. Shift+c will lower the Windscreen on the Vickers N17 usually.
  3. A couple of questions...

Yep correct Elephant sorry I made a mess of cutting and pasting. Yes indeed if you made a skin for the squad and carefully name it following the conventions of other squad skins in skins folder, it will be chosen when that squad flies (if there are available craft for it). Skins go in \OBDSoftware\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\campaigns\CampaignData\skins
  4. A couple of questions...

OK good, in OBDSoftware\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\campaigndata\mission\historical
  5. A couple of questions...

You'd have to look at the mission file, see which model name that one was specifically, then find a skin you like in the skins folder, and try copying it into the aircraft\<model name>\textures folder as the default_t.dds and probably copy again over the other *_t.dds would do it, but not recommended unless you back up well. We haven't released other P4 info yet so we will see.
  6. A couple of questions...

Night missions are what they are we haven't done anything specific for them, I think CFS3 is mimicking moonlight and for playability but Winder would be best to comment - I'm not sure there are options for it etc. Aircraft have a default skin when the correct one isn't yet available. It doesn't have several defaults. AI does usually follow the leader sometimes they take their time to turn etc. Try the aggressive AI if you changed it to the passive one. Landing never was part of OFF, and CFS3 didn't land properly anyway. Ignore it for now it won't work properly. Just land yourself exit mission job done, or exit near your field whatever. Yes for Phase 4 we are working on AI we have said several times. How it all pans out we shall see. To get a sim perfect will take 20 years I reckon - but we'll probably be long gone by then :).
  7. WWI Wx

Good point Duke - making the droplets heavier and also bringing all that dirt back down too :/
  8. P4 DEVELOPMENT SCREENSHOTS Discussion

Yeah I bet some of them is after a few 100 years of people getting bored saying it the long way probably Olham ;).
  9. WWI Wx

I think if you could hear the guns above your aircraft engine up that high, it had to be shaking those little water droplets up a bit.
  10. P4 DEVELOPMENT SCREENSHOTS Discussion

Oi it's called "English" and we let you borrow it ;)
  11. Which key command for gunsight?

Easier just to use trackir or similar and duck and look around the cockpits. Alternatives such FaceTrackNoIR would do too.
  12. Which key command for gunsight?

Good point insane is always relative to something else ;)
  13. P4 DEVELOPMENT SCREENSHOTS Discussion

Thanks guys glad you like where we are going with P4 so far.
  14. ai gun range

Easy AI gun means easy for you. i.e. easier for the player to play.
  15. Which key command for gunsight?

F6 toggles through vaious views available in the cockpit. The "cockpit floor" as you put is is usually Instrument view (some craft have instruments on the floor like fuel gauges or compass). i.e. we aren't that insane, although often seem to be.
  16. P4 DEVELOPMENT SCREENSHOTS Discussion

I'd like to know too ;). Seriously it would be daft to post system specs and requirements at this stage as P4 is still in development we are still adding and optimising. Also these pictures are taken with various settings and on more than 1 PC. When we have a good idea of all the ins and outs, you will know. Yes my system is a good one although by no means the best, and I think P4 runs better than P3 for me, WM has tested with various and with a slightly older video card and it works well. As with HITR a good amount of video ram (1GB+) will be a good idea but specifics at this stage we cannot say.
  17. Elegy

    Fantastic piece thanks Shred
  18. Sound help....

Never heard of not recognising a sound card before - DirectX9 installed if you have Windows 7? If Windows 7 / Vista make sure you setup CFS3 to work in compatibility mode (see FAQ).
  19. P4 DEVELOPMENT SCREENSHOTS Discussion

Change the weather from Historical to AI Weather generated in the Workshop maybe if you want to see more bright days. The war years were very bad weather.
  20. OK no worries -will give the new ones a go anyway and see. Thanks for checking.
  21. Gone West

Fantastically knowledgeable and I'm sure he helped keep the peace with authoritative comments to decide a debate. All the best for the final flight Dan-San
  22. Hellshade thanks - one thing we noticed in the past, you sometimes need to set CFS3Config set to enable some AA even if you use Nvidia to override. Maybe that has a bearing here.
  23. British Campaign

No worries Lewie, I guess it's how you say it rather than what - I have said that a few times. For example in the past some people post a new thread something like "IT SUCKS!" then the content is something daft like not reading the FAQ or can't configure a mouse 6th button. That doesn't look great in a forum and is overall misleading.
  24. British Campaign

LOL I give up no more explanations from me.
  25. British Campaign

Lewie, It's OK I appreciate your enthusiasm and knowledge but why not balance some of the critical negative with more of the good things you find too? We do have a lot more good things than bad ;). Questioning the position of the Lewis on a Bristol that DID have it there is a bit left field to point it out as some kind of flaw and doesn't really help us. As I explained we did have 3 variants done at the time, almost ready but had to go with 1 for various reasons. It balances and fits in nicely as it is. It is definitely not so easy for us to do many variants in 2 minutes. Most things in OFF have been carefully considered and decided on with fantastic detailed research by Shredward and the guys, or sometimes for reasons to do with what the sim actually needs, playability, requirements for the sim engine etc, and other criteria. Very rarely are they done "on a whim" - although one or two in early Phase 1 were when we were just having some fun (bicycle and Ford cars for example ;)). WM is flat out on all things as usual, and us other guys are doing our best to keep up. Many of the guys have full time day jobs, families etc of course and so much to cover in WW1 simulation. Overall we have a great balance in there, of course people can feel this needs a tweak or that, but overall things fit in well and balance - yes one or two items can be improved but that's easy to pick on items in any sim. The DII for example I know for a fact is worse than the DIII in some aspects. When I made the flight models the DII climbed worse, was slower, and turned a little worse for example, but does have other better properties. The DVx series was known as generally a disappointment compared to the DIII - faster yes, but heavier etc. These days we are programmed to believe that a new version of something is a huge improvement than previous. As you know not necessarily so at the dawn of combat flight as requirements and problems change rapidly in war. In OFF we try to make you realise how bad some things were, and what the brave fliers of the day had to cope with. A side mounted Lewis on a Bristol is good for that in my book and a great experience to realise how tough some of these pilots had it. It should not necessarily be the best version we provide - although sometimes we do. For us half the fun is sometimes trying to fly a poor craft in a war not chosing the fastest best. DH5 for example is a great experience ;) The DII is already improved after requests from people to do so, it turns better than the original Phase 1 craft for example but as you see we go back and forth with what people want so it is what it is. Anyway hope that helps put some comments we make in perspective. Back to work for me. I like some of the early craft there Lewie, if you want me to look at a good one send it to me if you like.
