If you still see it then it's possible the aircraft you see that on needs wheels adding to a lower LOD. Probably fixed in P4. Most are all getting update, upgraded etc. Yes we know the various mount methods used but I explained why we went for that idea and it wasn't possible to have a gunner physically move a gun between mounts in CFS3 so it is what it is - but as I say we shall see for P4. Yep that's the beauty you can decide what you like with your sim, some like Uncleal set to invincible but kill them off manually if they think the crash is not survivable etc. Slider 5 does not stop effects happening normally, so could be another setting (GPU or otherwise) that is stopping you seeing damage (setting high res skins will too).

Training Field - P4 DEVELOPMENT SCREENSHOTS!
Polovski replied to Winder's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Coming in to land at Sutton's Farm is nicely tricky now firstly finding it then realising you have not a lot of space once you get low. Makes you realise why they didn't like those aircraft with high speed landing. -
Glad you are up and running at last and hope you are enjoying some. Sounds like you have the aircraft sliders on low. Most craft are well lodded but if you lower the detail level you will see, rightly, low detail lods showing sooner a you zoom. ealier. Move up your aircraft slider to 5 in graphics config (Cfs3config). Be2 yes, they had fixed mounts too, and all sorts of Heath Robinson affairs such as balanced across rigging wires!, twin fixed forward, mixed, centre mounted that could be swung forward over the engine, Strange mounts in various positions, center mounts and many others - they were not standardised as such as most mounts where mainly experimental and not great in any configuration. So we chose a compromise between being useless, to almost useless. As we only have 1 Be craft to represent various years and experiments we wanted to show the almost unarmed version to give a taste of the early war. We could have gone with totally unarmed as they would mostly have been when carrying plenty of bombs or early on, so it's a compromise. Also importantly our extremely tiny team had no more time to make others. Be's were very stable and not manoeuvrable - the AI is flying them as bombers as flying them as fighters they look very silly. But yes they are fokker fodder which is mostly what they were. AI in P4 we are aiming for many improvements so if possible to improve them them we will of course. P4 we are looking at options - all take time to make is the issue. Maybe I'll do a rifle version too before my eyes totally burn out ;)

It sounds more like overheating of the CPU or GPU which would in term throttle speed if you get 40-60 in places then almost nothing. First check your heatsink is fitted properly to your CPU (important) and all fans are working properly and clean - then look in the BIOS and disable try CPU throttling. If you have a problem with fan/heatsink it wouldn't be a good idea of course, but if all checks out then this see the attached pic to give you an idea. If you are not sure about BIOS setting or changing get some advice or help before changing anything. You can use HWMonitor to show temps of CPU under stress. http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html Also CPU speed IS important, so if it's not overheating, try a small amount of some overclocking. The settings not sticking doesn't sound right at all but no idea why that would be - unless you are not saving using FILE,EXIT do NOT close the using the right hand corner [X]. Make sure you are running cfsconfig from the \OBDSoftware\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields folder. High res Z buffer should be on anyway usually. Make sure any Antialiasing settings are set to Override application or something not "Enhance application.." -
I enjoyed the SDOE WW1 mod he made very much and he is always well spoken all over the place so I'll drink to him too :)
-
I'll close this in the interest of calm and peace.. We need to support all sims to keep them going. However like on other forums where the same applies, there are general WW1 forums and other sections for discussion about other sims. Posting of "another" sim doesn't usually do anything except stir things up like this.

P4 DEVELOPMENT SCREENSHOTS Discussion
Polovski replied to DukeIronHand's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Yes Olham Winder has been very busy on new airfields and other ground objects. Stary re performance - all running very well so far but like you, we won't know all the ins and outs of requirements until it's done and all in there. So far so good. -
Why not try out the FaceTrackNoIR http://facetracknoir.sourceforge.net/ first. It's not quite all the features of TrackIR but getting there, and will give you an idea first, if you have a webcam without shelling out. Then you can see if you want to go for TrackIR. But TracKIR is totally strongly recommended and always has been for OFF. Imagine flying a flight sim with keyboard then getting a joystick and slapping yourself for not doing it sooner. TrackIR is the same. You'll be back saying Doh you were right guys..

Your fantasy vs. the OFF reality?
Polovski replied to DukeIronHand's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Someone mentioned "2 weeks" about a year ago I remember if that helps. -
Old programs still need their old dlls. Apart from some major things like DirectX which has backwards compatibility many programs will need Visual C+ 2005 2007 2008 etc or whatever they were written to use. If you plonk that DLL in you may then find some other DLL is missing still , so you need to install another older version of .NET probably or google a lot to check. Easiest thing is to do a system restore backup point first, then copy in the dll to try.

Your fantasy vs. the OFF reality?
Polovski replied to DukeIronHand's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
We try to give you what the pilot sees in the craft, warts and all :) Many craft had terribly cramped cockpits and poor view. That's why on paper something seems to be super, and often thought of as amazing until you actually get to fly it and then reality of the bad points hit home. Shift+c will lower the Windscreen on the Vickers N17 usually. -
Yep correct Elephant sorry I made a mess of cutting and pasting. Yes indeed if you made a skin for the squad and carefully name it following the conventions of other squad skins in skins folder, it will be chosen when that squad flies (if there are available craft for it). Skins go in \OBDSoftware\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\campaigns\CampaignData\skins
-
OK good, in OBDSoftware\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\campaigndata\mission\historical
-
You'd have to look at the mission file, see which model name that one was specifically, then find a skin you like in the skins folder, and try copying it into the aircraft\<model name>\textures folder as the default_t.dds and probably copy again over the other *_t.dds would do it, but not recommended unless you back up well. We haven't released other P4 info yet so we will see.
-
Night missions are what they are we haven't done anything specific for them, I think CFS3 is mimicking moonlight and for playability but Winder would be best to comment - I'm not sure there are options for it etc. Aircraft have a default skin when the correct one isn't yet available. It doesn't have several defaults. AI does usually follow the leader sometimes they take their time to turn etc. Try the aggressive AI if you changed it to the passive one. Landing never was part of OFF, and CFS3 didn't land properly anyway. Ignore it for now it won't work properly. Just land yourself exit mission job done, or exit near your field whatever. Yes for Phase 4 we are working on AI we have said several times. How it all pans out we shall see. To get a sim perfect will take 20 years I reckon - but we'll probably be long gone by then :).

Good point Duke - making the droplets heavier and also bringing all that dirt back down too :/

P4 DEVELOPMENT SCREENSHOTS Discussion

Yeah I bet some of them is after a few 100 years of people getting bored saying it the long way probably Olham ;). -
I think if you could hear the guns above your aircraft engine up that high, it had to be shaking those little water droplets up a bit.

Which key command for gunsight?
Polovski replied to DukeIronHand's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Easier just to use trackir or similar and duck and look around the cockpits. Alternatives such FaceTrackNoIR would do too. -

Thanks guys glad you like where we are going with P4 so far. -
Easy AI gun means easy for you. i.e. easier for the player to play.

F6 toggles through vaious views available in the cockpit. The "cockpit floor" as you put is is usually Instrument view (some craft have instruments on the floor like fuel gauges or compass). i.e. we aren't that insane, although often seem to be.
