ALT-Tab or running OFF in windowed mode
Polovski replied to Tanyrhiew's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
For the record I have FF in OFF in Win7 64bit using a USB Sidewinder Pro.. so it does work. I can also alt tab in CFS3 or OFF, but for most of the last 5 years on any system I could not even in vanilla CFS3 using all sorts of hardware and OS (XP/Vista usually) ATI/NVidia/Intel/AMD mattered not. Win7 64 bit seems to have helped in that regard. -
No problem von Baur we are always looking at improving things. Just need more time ;)

Guys, just a heads up the website - it has been updated to include info on the coming Expansion. The title is "HAT IN THE RING!" Price is set there, and availability will be added shortly, but it will be available via download. http://www.overflandersfields.com/info.htm

HAT IN THE RING! : Web update
Polovski replied to Polovski's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Probably the wrong thread but it will get a basic testing before release sj. There should be no problem adding railways in we can't give a tutorial on that though. -
Making distance and deflection shots
Polovski replied to Creaghorn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Good points Craighorn, we think that is true too that the hit effects help experienced pilots. They become super efficient at it with practice and can hit using the indicated damage effects. If it was really as it really was it could be quite dull and a lot harder like we used to have the effects. Also sound effects would be much duller (hence the options in the manager). We can look at for a future update anyway. -
Full medal system will likely be P4. "I sure that the development teams are working to fix all the flight models..." Not sure what that has to do with medals but we aren't fixing all the flight models - they aren't broken.
-
Yes the craft have contact points so you should collide but like anything in software land there's a compromise there are not infinite contact points just a few key ones. The cloud thing is down to the VC having different parts to the external model. For various technical reasons sometimes you have to put parts of the wing or other objects in the Virtual cockpit these are not affected by fog.

OFF HAT IN THE RING - more screenshots
Polovski replied to Polovski's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Thanks guys - Winder has improved the trees and scenery too in the expansion. Hopefully some of those will show it off. I had to reduce the size of some pics to reduce the load a little in the thread. Just a note of work on show: Great skins and textures by WM & Sandbagger & cracker EV skins from OvS! Rest of the team not necessarily obvious on show here Meticulously researched by Shred of course, Makai has also improved many other skins, and RexH brought about some of the great features like custom player skins: -
The manager does produce missions based on squadron's status and general battle orders, WM has described it in detail in the past, but we are refining this further to define specific rolls down to squadron level! (a taste will be in the Hat in the Ring expansion). PC performance and settings can also effect AI generally too - try increasing some graphic sliders if you have a good PC. AI seems to be worse when you have lower sliders.

Lol I doubt anyone is much interested but maybe go read some of the interviews on Wings of Honour or SimHQ etc - links in the Reviews section of the website under "Interviews with the team: "

Install to a different drive than C: also when you do make sure you run the setup as Adminsitrator (try right clicking on the setup exe, properties, set compatibility to XP SP2 and run as admninstrator). Try that.
-
Yep so see my last comments please :) Youi have a little while to kill him off before the addon is available, and you do NOT have to install it immediately anyway if you are worried?? As I say we cannot cover every single install or pilot sometimes, with upgrades things happen... sooooooo finish it, then install?

Albatross Albatross...
Polovski replied to Slartibartfast's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
No. That's why you need to update to 3.1 before installing OFF ;) However if you then used a no-cd .. and that was from the old v3.0 you have the problem back. -
Not normally, but as I say.. installing ANY software could cause a problem on a PC, so to be safe finish the important career first?

Albatross Albatross...
Polovski replied to Slartibartfast's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
may be related from the FAQ: OTHER KNOWN ISSUES 1) Do NOT use a "No-CD" version of CFS3.exe many are old V3.0 and WILL CAUSE ISSUES with OFF. You must use a V3.1 CFS3.EXE as found on a purchased CFS3 DVD or CD. .....[sNIP] If you find you cannot hit the enemy when very close, again this is due to an old CFS3.exe. Usually a NO-CD type. Please use an original purchased CFS3. -
Er I don't understand the question? Will buying the Addon affect your career? In what way? You can choose not to fly US craft if you wish. You cannot choose not to meet a N28 though. Maybe just finish your career first? Please remember as per the website and here - full details are not yet available.

HAT IN THE RING! : Web update
Polovski replied to Polovski's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Well we try our best to make it available via the best method, we cannot make it super perfect for everyone, but as I say we do NOT have the details yet so there is no point asking. P4 vague ideas yes but I cannot comment on. thewoo1 the craft are more detailed. It should be OK, but again we cannot say everyone will have exactly the same performance as now but it's similar for sure. -
From the FAQ 6) Auto Pilot (Ctrl+Shift+A) is sometimes unreliable – we recommend that you keep it realistic and not engage Auto Pilot in WW1 crates as they had none. In some 2-seaters where you want to take over observer position, autopilot MAY help if it works OK. To have a good chance, enable autopilot after stabilising craft first, level it, and apply full power, and then use Ctrl+Shift+A. Remember to disable it before switching back to the pilot seat. Remember to fly a mission as gunner/observer there is likely no need to engage the “autopilot”... simply jump to the gunner seat (recommend using Shift+F8 key to avoid TrackIR shortcut defaults) without pressing autopilot keys! F6 returns.

Probably not the damage appears in 1 place only. Upper wing, lower wing whatever, unless it breaks some. Bullets are not necessarily mirrored underneath too. So maybe you got hit on the upper R aileron, then on the L aileron under. The only way to do that is to have matched set of bullet holes that appear in both places at the same time, and it would take a looooong time to do for each craft ;). So yes maybe possible if you want the next add on out in 2012. We can look at again sometime but not at the moment.

HAT IN THE RING! : Web update
Polovski replied to Polovski's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Lol Tony, nope it's not on DVD, but it's not that big (400MB approx currently). There *may* be a possibility of an extra "backup" DVD option on the download but I don't know. As per the web details are TBC so we don't have the answers yet. -
Recently got some Simped USB Vario Pro and I must say they are fab, and very quiet and smooth. They had a special offer on too. Took me a while to realise there's a little push button under the LEDs to change the mode - set to linear mode they are excellent. BTW it's also an actual rudder bar rather than just pedals.

A taste of life with the USA in the upcoming addon !
Polovski replied to sandbagger's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Looking cool Mike, at last US is getting a good show. BTW just a credit, WM did the great base skin for the Niueport 28 that these are on, and the cool 3d model. -
Question to, or proposal for the devs
Polovski replied to Wels's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
No problem. Yes we know of AirWrench extremely well - the WW1 components Jerry made specially for us. The airship belongs to Greg and we couldn't include it and that's that. Remember we just have two modellers (who work on other things). Every person here has a favourite craft, and they all ask for theirs.
