Strike Fighters 2 Europe

Great news. As soon as I get a new comp', I'll be downloading all the new games! -
Hi guys. Here am I, after a tremendous week end... Let me explain: in the saturday to sunday night, I all of sudden began to experiment the most horrible, awfull and powerfull pain in the lower belly I've ever feel. In a dozen of minutes, I'm just unable to clearly think, let alone take care of myself. Thank God, I was with my sweetheart and she took care of everythings, calling ambulances and whatever. I was taken to the nearest Hospital in E.R, where a look-alike of WWE Big Show did stuffs to me with some needles (perfusion is the french name) that got me quite high but killed the pain. (I am not used to medicines as I prefer let my body do its job alone, unless it's unavoidable, so I guess the medicines effects were quite stronger with me) Therefore discovered I that this most horrible pain was the result of kidney stones... I will take further exams in the following days, but I would like to know if some of you did experiment these, how they get rid of it or whatever. Thanks!

Flight stick or Keyboard?
Emp_Palpatine replied to i fight by 1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Last time I flew with a joystick was on the Dynamix's Aces series. Since then, I got a joystick and I can't do without it now. I tried last year one or two TK's sims without flightstick (was far from home and my stick, but wanted to fly) and I severely sucked. Way harder to controll the plane that way, let alone fight! -
Oh, men, you are reassuring me! Especially Dave and C5: Since that night, everybody I heard off that had such stones was past fifty! I was wondering how come I got a pathology definitely not for my age. Tomorrow, I pass some med scan in order to know where is the stone(s?), and whatever I have to do to get rid of it... Thanks for your stories men, they are indeed very similar to mine.

N Korea issues warning to Seoul
Emp_Palpatine replied to Erwin_Hans's topic in Military and General Aviation
Not much of a threat either. Even good trained Serbian pilot didn't fare well with those. In the Ethiopian-Erythrean war of 1998-200, its records were awfully bad. The only way for DPRK Air Force to be a threat is numerical superiority and engaging in dogfights. But even in this case, with new generation of close range AIM, the odds are against them. -
NATO Fighters IV SEAD Advice
Emp_Palpatine replied to Jeremiah Weed's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well, fly at three top level and pray too. In any 1986 campaign, even at very low level cruises, Sa-11 and Su 27 are the principal causes of my deaths. -
Congrats!

N Korea issues warning to Seoul
Emp_Palpatine replied to Erwin_Hans's topic in Military and General Aviation
Well. In July 2002 a quite big naval battle occured between RoK and DPRK navies with several losses of ships and lives. And I'm quite sure other severe clashes occured more recently in the contested waters. But there were no all-out war, despite all the usual KCNA (http://www.kcna.co.jp/index-e.htm) warmongering and violent rhetoric. North Korea knows she can't afford a war she will probably loose. Hence the nukes, as an insurance: nukes means no all-out war or foreign interventions, as India and Pakistan experimented in their recent clashes, as Iran is trying to achieve, as Libya and Iraq tried. And the nuke is perfect for Kim Jon Il way of diplomacy: blackmail. I would personnaly prefer the destruction of DPRK's regime but with the nuke and China's support, military/'special" solutions are now impossible. An Ozirak reenactement is impossible now that the possession of nukes is certain: I guess nobody knows how much warhead DPRK has. One? Two? Ten? Or did they fire the only one? There is the risk that if such an attack occurs, they will put their one, two or ten warheads in missiles and fire them toward Japan and RoK... It would be a suicide for them as the US will probably destroy that country a few minutes later, but they could take an unacceptable toll on Japan and South Korea's assests/lives. That's called dissuasion... But I'm sure, despite the climate of purges and terror that must be reigning in Pyongyang that the Party and the Army are not so monolithic and perhaps some inner coup or palace revolution could be incitated. It was what happened in Romania in 1989: Ceaucescu indeed followed North Korea's model, and his grip to power was seen as unchallengable. In a few days, he was ousted and killed by something that was a palace revolution by pragmatic Party's members (with links in Moscow and in the West) disguised as a popular revolt. Kim Jong Il death could be such an occasion... -

Man, you got all the points! As usual, this is saber-rattling. That regime always speak in these tones for the international media and for its own internal use. That regime is on the verge of collapsing since the mid-90's and only hold on because it's in China's interest... and all of its neighbours interest: -China does not want an unified Korea where, probably, US troops will be stationned in the Norh. -South Korea does not want to pay. -Japan fears a too powerfull unified Korea -The US need North Korea to maintain troops in RoK, as an unification might trigger an evacuation of the troops. Well, everybody that counts there is in favor of the Statu-quo... So is North Korea: they want to survive, and their paranoia is alievated with their new nuclear insurance. Now, they will resume their heavy-shouting and black-mailing based diplomacy. -
nato fighters 1 & 2 install, no weapons
Emp_Palpatine replied to sts's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
And be advised too that sometime the auto-installer use a wrong target name for the installation, resulting in odd results. Double check the path it proposes! -

That's disguting... How can one be so wicked to destroy fan-made site and a community just for the "fun" of it?

May patches released for SFP2 and SFP2V
Emp_Palpatine replied to GwynO's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
All right guys, just to summarize what was said... Are you saying that under the same config (let's take my aging comp, under XP: 2ghz dual core, 1GB Ram, Nvidia 8600...), SF2 and WOV2 are running better?? If it's the case, I will consider not waiting for a new PC as I planned originaly and buy both game as soon as first mods and campaigns are released! -

Knife fighting-dogfight. The closest one. EVER! Of course, collisions are set on "on" as my realism settings are always hard. Surprisingly enough, we both survived (but I guess the ground team will have to repair the scratched paint). -

Gotcha. -
All Great-Grandparents did WW1, but I didn't got stories from grand parents, saddly. Both my grandpas did WW2 in French army (and one great-uncle in the belgian one). My dad's dad was mobilised in a fortification division, in the Maginot Line. They sat there during the phoney war. At some point during the invasion, they had to fought their way south but he got captured in June by the germans in Burgondy (near the town Tonnerre). He spent the rest of the war in POW camp. My mom's dad came from Algeria. As a young man he joined the army for four years somewhere in 1935. You did the math, he indeed made 10 years. I haven't much details of his 39-40 campaigns -a few research might help as my Grandma gave me his military book, so I know his unit-. After the defeat he was with the Armée d'Afrique, waiting in Algeria. After Operation Torch, as you know, French North Africa joined Free France, and his unit was reequiped and such. I haven't meet him as I was a toddler when he died, and he never spoke much about the war, but among the scarce details of his carrer in his military book, Provence D Day is mentionned... Apart from this, my God father volunteered for fighting in Algeria in the late 50's-early 60's.

Most of the time, they do not shoot at their targets, apart from warning shots. They shoot when angry -successfully escaping ship, or successfull defense. They sneak around the boats, using their small and very manoeuvrable crafts and usually climb the hull using ladders or roppes. Once they are onboard, they are likely masters of the ships, using their weapons to threaten the crew. Most of the time, they do not care about the cargo. They want the crew, in order to get some ransom, as they know that ship owners won't care that much about goods, but that people are unvaluable. The only defences, apart from weapons, for the ships are evasive manoeuvers (can make quite big waves) and very high pressure fire hoses. But if it fails, and if the pirates got the ship, it's hopeless if the highjacker manage to bring the ship back to their nest: the hostages will join other hostages and be used as a shield (remember we are not speaking one or two hostages, but close to a thousand!) as long as ransoms are not paid. So, what the Alabama did: ie defeating the pirates during the attack; or what French Navy usually do (ie retaking the ship before it touch the land -even if one time, they landed in Somalia to get the sailors back) are the only practical and politically acceptable solutions. Not much can be done for the already detained hostages, but (very) agressive defense for ships is indeed a priority. By the way, growler pics are great !

BAF (I'm in the mirage in the smoke) USAF conjoint raid in GDR. -
Sure, some heavy military response could help allievate the problem... Sadly, those people hold a few hundreds (somewhat between 500-800) sailors in hostage on land as a sort of insurance. There is no organized pirate authorities, but those people are not totaly dump unfortunately and if they feel threatened, they probably will harm the detained sailors. Having hundreds of civilian slaughtered is quite a heavy price to pay...

And what about using NF as a base, if would be modders release some little add-on making red side flyable?
