SF series as gateway to other flight sims? What to fly next?
MigBuster replied to MrGoTime's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
You need the Falcon 4 disk There is scalable difficulty - but really everything is geared for full realism settings in BMS - no point learning easy systems and then have to start from scratch with harder stuff later on!. If you have just downloaded DCS A-10C then - um..............do you play flights sims full time because you might best to stick to 1 hardcore job for now. -

Older style depressed gunsight usage.
MigBuster replied to Delta6Actual's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You depress the bomb site an amount of mils depending on the angle, alt, speed you are bombing at before you do the bomb run as I understand The F-16 in BMS has a fully working one - although you dont need to use it! - I remember flight of the intruder having the charts etc for such a thing. In SF I think it can only be hard depressed from the cockpit ini -

It looks like Assad has decided to use Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) Mig-29 aircraft to attack rebel forces in Syria. The image in this post (published on a Facebook page that covers SyAAF news) clearly shows a Syrian Fulcrum flying over Damascus with B-8 pods for 80 mm unguided rockets. The photograph is particularly interesting because it not only witnesses the appearance of the SyAAF Fulcrum in the air war against the Free Syrian Army (FSA), but it also marks its use as an air-to-surface platform to deliver unguided weapons. In other words, after being kept away from the war, the Mig-29 is currently being used against ground targets with “dumb” weapons that require it to fly at lower altitudes, most probably well within the MANPADS range. Is Assad running short of all its other warplanes? http://theaviationist.com/2013/10/22/mig-29-damascus/

Yes that's currently not available - no idea why - still have it on my phone. Attack has an interesting supply of aircraft - but yeah doesn't seem as good as SF - might get into it though............. -

Unless someone else has tried you may as well give it a go - you can always remove it or fix it if you need to. -
Figuring out how to level bomb
MigBuster replied to pieisgood's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
An altitude, speed and range to target might be good enough for this - as long as you have a lot of bombs to ripple. This would require finding that ideal through trial and error - only good for flat ground. Also not too sure how far the wind carries the bombs in this (if at all) In WW2 they got round this problem by sending about 500 bombers to a target -

The aircraft package includes nine upgraded Portuguese Air Force F-16MLU aircraft, and three former US Air Force aircraft supplied to Portugal for the resale under the US Excess Defense Article program. The Portuguese military procurement agency DGAIED will buy those latter three F-16s and have the Portuguese Air Force upgrade them to the F-16 Mid Life Update (MLU) standard with assistance of OGMA-Indústria Aeronáutica de Portugal prior transfer to Romania. Romania is rumored to pay about 638 million EUR (866 million USD) with 120 million EUR for the acquisition of the planes. The contract also includes modifications and upgrades to the aircraft (nine single- and three two-seaters); additional engines; logistics support; and the training of 9 Romanian pilots and 69 maintenance technicians. The first aircraft is scheduled to be delivered in 2016 and initial operational capability achieved in 2017, the Portuguese Ministry of Defence stated. Meanwhile, Romanian pilots will be trained in the US to handle these planes, while infrastructure will be modernized to be compatible with the jets. Romania will have to spend additional funds to build the necessary ground infra-structure and acquire spares, weaponry and airborne sensors. Portugal has also been seeking a buyer for some of its F-16AM/BM aircraft since 2006, with discussions on a potential sale previously held with several countries worldwide. The EU has previously lodged its opposition to the F-16 sale to Romania given its non-competitive nature. The Romanian Air Force currently operates 48 MiG-21 Lancers (upgraded 'Fishbed') which were modernized with the help of Israel. Their service life is slowly coming to an end however with 40 years of flying. The F-16s should to be airworthy for at least the next 20 years (4,000-4,500 flight hours). In 2010, the Romanian Government canceled purchase plans for the 24 F-16 used planes from the USAF. The country’s Supreme Defense Council had approved a purchase plan but Romania decided to temporarily halt it due to lack of a long-term financing plan. http://www.f-16.net/news_article4794.html

200 years ago this day: Armageddon in Europe
MigBuster replied to Capitaine Vengeur's topic in The Pub
Few pics on the news http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-24599921 Some 6,000 history buffs in period military costume are re-enacting one of Germany's bloodiest battles, the Battle of the Nations. French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte was defeated near Leipzig in October 1813 by forces from Russia, Austria, Prussia and Sweden. Tens of thousands of spectators are attending the reconstruction, described as a "reconciliation". However, Church leaders object to the battle being turned into a game. They see Sunday's event as tantamount to glorifying the carnage of war, the BBC's Damien McGuinness reports. -
