Lets put the start button back Microsoft has released the Windows 8.1 update for its flagship operating system. The download seeks to address some of the criticisms levelled at the original version of Windows 8. In particular, the update restores the start button and allows a computer to boot up with a traditional desktop interface. The launch comes at a critical time for Microsoft as it seeks a new boss, with PC sales experiencing a long decline. Windows 8 sought to bridge the gap between touchscreen devices, such as tablets and smartphones, and more traditional form laptops and desktop machines. As such it had an interface built of tiles that could be tapped or swiped to open applications. However, many people found the tiled interface did not work well for some of the things they were used to doing with a computer. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-24564738

F-16 tally of Helicopters, drones and other useless aircraft on the rise: According to Vladimir López Padrino, commander of the Ceofanb, the Comando Estratégico Operational de la Fuerza Armada Nacional Bolivariana (Venezuelan Air Force Strategic Operations Command), who gave the new using his twitter account, on the evening of Saturday Oct. 12 some F-16s belonging to the Aviación Militar Bolivariana Venezolana(Bolivarian National Air Force of Venezuela) shot down two Narcos planes south of Apure, not far from the border with Colombia. Padrino released an image of the remains of one of the intruder aircraft: a sort of admonishment for all those who might believe that flying above the Amazon rainforest at low altitude could be enough to escape interception. http://theaviationist.com/2013/10/14/narcos-shot-down/

Just Bought SF2 NA
MigBuster replied to Barkhorn1x's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
You only need to create other folders if you want to add mods like new terrain tiles, ground objects etc And you create them in the mod folders NOT where you have installed the game to http://combatace.com/topic/62302-what-is-the-mod-folder/ As for the AIM-54A Advise using TWS mode to lock it (See online instructions on F-14 radar use) - then ensure you are actually in range and not going by some fantasy kinetic range figure quoted on Wiki - range depends on altitude, speed and target aspect - so example if the bombers are head on the further out you will be able to fire. -

Poland football fans plan to unveil a flag at the World Cup qualifying match against England commemorating Polish pilots' role in the Battle of Britain. The Polish checkerboard design of the 20m x 20m (65ft x 65ft) flag is the symbol of the Polish Air Force. The RAF's 303 Squadron, formed with Polish aircrew, was Fighter Command's most successful unit in the Battle of Britain. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-24535805 Best of luck for tonight

Right back to sad stories.............. At the beginning of World War II, a government pamphlet led to a massive cull of British pets. This little-discussed moment of panic is explored in a new book. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-24478532

If Humans are in a mass state of suffering or starvation animals probably become nothing more than objects again in most cases.

Find the _RUNWAY.ini in the Terrains folder You can add lines like these which define the coordinates of the static A/C which the game will place automatically if you are on a high enough graphics setting: ParkingChance=75 ParkingMaxSpan=15.0 Parking[01].Offset=89.48,-1001.76 Parking[01].Heading=-0.0 Parking[02].Offset=104.60,-1001.76 Parking[02].Heading=-0.0 Parking[03].Offset=119.74,-1001.76 ....... LargeParkingChance=80 LargeParkingMaxSpan=42.0 LargeParking[01].Offset=138.96,-912.21 LargeParking[01].Heading=90.0 LargeParking[02].Offset=138.96,-869.91 LargeParking[02].Heading=90.0 ....... -

IR AIM-4 constant near misses
MigBuster replied to Sheriff001's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Yes - the setup on the F-4 was totally inadequate for any kind of close in combat. Data I have shows a >0.90 PK for 2 missiles fired rear aspect against a level subsonic bomber (expect no CM) for the AIM-4D. So yeah it was still **** relatively speaking -

US special forces have carried out a raid on a senior leader of the al-Shabab Islamist group in Somalia, US officials say. The unnamed officials said a US Navy Seals team had targeted the man after approaching a villa in the southern town of Barawe by sea. There are conflicting reports about whether the raid was successful. It was said to have been prompted by last month's deadly attack on the Westgate shopping centre in Kenya. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-24417099

Day and Night missions
MigBuster replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Not guaranteed in dynamic campaigns - but in scripted missions you would be able to do that - with a bit of work. -
Day and Night missions
MigBuster replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
That's a flaw with most sims unfortunately - I just ignore A-A and only engage on radar if you can ID them. Dont think you can shape DAY/NIGHT missions in a campaign to that specific level. -
Have you guys noticed...
MigBuster replied to Carlos_Tex's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Yes did notice it - somethings obviously going on - hope its not as pathetic as someone has an opinion against Israel. Considering its historical and based in the Cold War era when Israel was seen as a hero to the west - I don't see what argument they could put forward - so GTA 5 no problem but SF Israel - OMG!! My next phone will be Samsung Android based - Crapple can go the same way they did in the 80s -
Dogfights gaining relevance again?
MigBuster replied to TeaAndScones's topic in Military and General Aviation
The radar and IR detection range will be reduced but I cant see it being a case of visually detecting each other - especially with IR The F-35 has a built in IRST, TGP, Radar - and if they don't detect a foe then it has a 360 multi spectrum detection capability with the EODAS that will still detect targets well outside gun range. If say 2 jets spotted each other in WVR and you went in with a gun against a guy with an AIM-9X / R-74 then probably kiss your A goodbye - >96% of the time.
