Day and Night missions
MigBuster replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
That's a flaw with most sims unfortunately - I just ignore A-A and only engage on radar if you can ID them. Dont think you can shape DAY/NIGHT missions in a campaign to that specific level. -
Have you guys noticed...
MigBuster replied to Carlos_Tex's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Yes did notice it - somethings obviously going on - hope its not as pathetic as someone has an opinion against Israel. Considering its historical and based in the Cold War era when Israel was seen as a hero to the west - I don't see what argument they could put forward - so GTA 5 no problem but SF Israel - OMG!! My next phone will be Samsung Android based - Crapple can go the same way they did in the 80s -
Dogfights gaining relevance again?
MigBuster replied to TeaAndScones's topic in Military and General Aviation
The radar and IR detection range will be reduced but I cant see it being a case of visually detecting each other - especially with IR The F-35 has a built in IRST, TGP, Radar - and if they don't detect a foe then it has a 360 multi spectrum detection capability with the EODAS that will still detect targets well outside gun range. If say 2 jets spotted each other in WVR and you went in with a gun against a guy with an AIM-9X / R-74 then probably kiss your A goodbye - >96% of the time. -

CombatACE is getting flagged as a dangerous site by McAfee
MigBuster replied to Skyviper's topic in Site Support / Bug Reports / Suggestions
They used to be a major player This appeared today - the guys a bit of a character http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-24441931 Who is the real John McAfee? He's the man who went on the run after his neighbour was found dead, face-up, with a bullet in his head. He's the man who jump-started the multibillion-dollar anti-virus industry. And now he thinks he can make you invisible on the internet. -

MigBuster replied to Barkhorn1x's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
From memory - go to TWS mode select a target on the radar lock up Select another target Lock up Select another target etc Then when in range fire, fire, fire etc this only applies to AIM-54s btw If you are new to the jet + avionics side of things there's a bit to learn I'm afraid. Check your key mapping - mine is mapped to a HOTAS which makes it all easier -

F-14 Flight Profile?
MigBuster replied to Barkhorn1x's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Whatever you like - you will find in reality you probably fly a different profile depending on the mission - spend a few mins at SL at max MIL power before climbing etc Your wingies will form up in standard lazy formation - you can wait for your wingies before pressing waypoints. The important wingman commands happen when you start getting in missile range. -

Shame about the pilot but great news that the passenger managed to get it down - great work by that instructor over the radio really.

Need help with Revanche mission 6
MigBuster replied to JDUK's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
My wingy is really poor at following commands - and when he does its normally a death sentence - its safer (for him ) sometimes to just let him follow me around in trail - (almost like a towed decoy ) -
Could the Chinese media be as clueless as everyone else's per chance! Even if some analysts compared it to the F/A-18 Hornet, the Shenyang J-15 “Flying Shark” may not be the powerful and deadly threat to the U.S. Navy Air Power in the Pacific. Indeed, in spite of the recent claims that it had succesfully achieved full-load take off and landing on the Liaoning aircraft carrier, the China’s embarked plane may not be able to operate from Beijing’s first supercarrier. According to the Sina Military Network, that has (weirdly) criticized the Flyng Shark calling it a “flopping fish”, the recent tests with heavy weapons have limited the attack range of the J-15 to a distance of 120 kilometers from the carrier: whilst it is said to be capable to carry 12 tons of weapons, when the aircraft is fully loaded with fuel, it can’t carry more than 2 tons of missiles and munitions, meaning that only two YJ-83K anti-ship missiles and two PL-8 air-to-air missiles could be carried (in an anti-ship configuration). People’s Liberation Army Navy’s next generation carriers will have electromagnetic catapults that will safely launch heavy J-15s. The problem is the ski-jump ramp of the current, only PLA Navy aircraft carrier, that makes take off of aircraft exceeding 26 tons of total weight extremely difficult unless you have a more powerful aircraft, as the Mig-29K. That’s why a lone Soviet aircraft carrier with ski-jump is no match for a U.S. flattop. And a J-15 carrying only handful of medium and short range air-to-air missiles in air defense configuration to be able to launch for Liaoning would probably be no match for U.S. carrier-based F/A-18E/F Hornet. http://theaviationist.com/2013/09/30/j-15-critics/
