Modifying Default WoV2 Carriers?
MigBuster replied to Stretch32's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
From what i remember - the YAP carriers were setup with planes spread accross either the landing or catapults - this was because in scripted missions they used 1 carrier for take off and a second carrier for landing on. The downside of this was you cant take off AND land on a single carrier without removing the planes in the way. To do this you need the original 3D model files. I was hoping they would release a few of them with a usable configuration. -
crikey - theres a sight to behold

Expansion pack 2 is out!
MigBuster replied to Paladrian's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
According to TK SF2 had support for dual/multi core CPUs from the go - although only in certain areas of the coding - and these have been increased slowly to what we have now. -
Weapons load INI help needed

Are they not showing at all? - have you tried increasing the size limits for the bays? -
6 DOF
MigBuster replied to Romflyer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Basically you want more body movement to allow for looking around seats etc - would be really handy in the F-102 where I cant even look around the frame to shoot straight! First Eagles 2 feels like you can move your head sideways further - although not sure if this is the really the case without further investigation. -
Weapons Editor and windows 7
MigBuster replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Sounds like you have the wrong version of the editor! Nothing should be lost if you still have the weapondata.ini. All it does is create a weapondata.dat from the weapondata.ini when you click save. make sure you are opening weapondata.ini from inside the weapons folder only. The editor may need to be set to win 98 compat mode. if that doesnt work you will need to state the version of the editor and the patch level of the SF1 game -
Weapons Editor and windows 7
MigBuster replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Mine is installed to a secondary partition and works fine from there - although probably anywhere other than the program files folders should work. -
by default yes its IAS unless you change it or load in pit settings. Get to 500kts IAS, dip the nose down 30 degrees or so then see what return you get in a slice - dont assume you have to stay at 20k. If an enemy jet is at 20k, find out about it at least 20 miles away and use AIM-120s The only situations I might turn like that at that altitude is in dogfight mode guns only or if I see a SAM coming up - but depends on the situation really.
-
You go into a different radar modes depending on what mode you are currently in - the differences are in chapter 4 and 21 STT mode will give you the best lock and best chance of success because its only concentrating on that one target. Bugged is SAM mode - not as good as STT but shows other jets.
-
Probably not a bug - its just physics - When you were at 20kft were you at 440 Indicated AS or 440 True AS? You will probably find it will do it at over 500kTAS at a guess - but its not the same - you get less thrust and less lift at 20kft.

Sad to hear - RIP leslie - thanks for the great films and the many laughs

You can bring up the notice by going to one http://icqshoes.com/ There is nothing to say where those sites actually were now the names all point back to the same server - so not much to go on. Bottom line is - whoever is in control of the Internet infrastructure will want to excert some level of control over it (now they know what it is)! Moving to a decentralised structure where countries own governments control it means more or less control (look at Chinas efforts for example) - people might have a lot more to moan about. The extra control was inevitable especially due to the amount of trade and commerce now done over it - the days where people can do what they like regardless of morals or values could be on their way out - particularly where it interferes with economic or security interests. As for the future of the net - its up to them it seems.

Su-27 for SFP2
MigBuster replied to Wilches's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Is there nothing in the SF2 section? The white parts just mean you are missing files it needs - worth checking to see if there is an old thread with the files required listed -
Yeah I wish the best NK could muster was some old MiG-29s in that ! One factor in this is that South Korea has a lot more to lose - like a good economy - NK have pretty much nothing to lose - apart from the knowledge that they can push SK pretty far as we are seeing!

Horrible Frame Rates over North Vietnam
MigBuster replied to liamp51's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
What mods do you have? the more SAMs, AAA firing the more it will hit the FR. If you have Green Hell with lots of trees that will also bring things down. In Linebacker II you get massive strike packages with loads of SAM/AAA - you need a very good rig to run that with high gfx settings. You need to compromise your in-game and card settings until you hit a happy medium for you. -

Nice one -
Reading the entire manual is not really much help tbh you will just forget whats gone before. Study sections of it as you do training missions - you need to be able to relate the written info to how its done in practical terms. How quick you learn depends on previous experience or how much time you are prepared to put in - but it comes with practise eventually.

Air Force officials initially had held out hope that the pilot, Captain Jeffrey Haney, might have ejected from the plane and survived Tuesday night's crash. "Based on evidence recovered from the crash site, and after two days of extensive aerial and ground search efforts, we know that Captain Haney did not eject from the aircraft prior to impact," Colonel Jack McMullen, commander of the Air Force 3rd Wing at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, said in a statement. Search teams at the wreckage site, about 100 miles north of Anchorage, found part of Haney's ejection seat and several items the pilot wore during the flight, McMullen said. "Sadly, we can no longer consider this a search and rescue operation but must now focus on recovery operations," he said. Haney was married with two children. He joined the Air Force in 2003 and has been at the Anchorage base for 4 1/2 years. The F-22 took off Tuesday from the joint Air Force and Army base for a training run. The jet and a second F-22 practised "intercepts" and were nearing completion of the exercise when one aircraft disappeared from ground radar tracking and from communications with the other F-22 at 19:40h local Tuesday. An air search had been ongoing, with searchers looking for any sign of a parachute or a fire the pilot might have started had he been able to eject from the plane.

A-6A DIANE bombing system
MigBuster posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
File Name: A-6A DIANE bombing system File Submitter: MigBuster File Submitted: 30 Sep 2008 File Category: Jet Cockpits Yeah right - dream on - this is actually just a CCIP sight to allow you some form of level bombing and relive those FOTI days Basic CCIP for A-6A to simulate a DIANE level bombing system. For Stock A-6A WOV (Version September 2008) only tested on Hard Avionics See the instructions file Issues: 1. No Terrain Avoidance Radar mode with new avionics 2. Unguided rockets uses the same CCIP sight - its an in game thing so you will just have to ignore it Its useless for targetting anyway. Click here to download this file -
Difficulty options... what do you use and why?
MigBuster replied to malibu43's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Yeah - think its down to the pilot training - they have always been the worst opponents. Whereas in single missions the MiG-17Fs and MiG-19s can be very difficult(particularly in SF2). It takes a while sometimes to get used to a certin jet again - I prefer the F-8 in a DF than the F-4/100/101/102/104 though (all settings on Hard btw and red planes removed from map). The Razbam F-102 with AIM-4s only being the ultimate challenge/nightmare - handles alright but I cant see out of the cockpit to keep tally on anything and it seems very slow - tasked to escort a flight of B-57Bs to NV - couldnt catch them - the MiG-17s did though doh!.
