Terrain Buildings
MigBuster replied to hi ho silver's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Some of the terrains have high rise, skyscrapers and other buildings now I have noticed - although the only terrain mod I have seen with them arranged in streets is on a recent FE2 mod . -
Help a Newbie?
MigBuster replied to Toonz's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Not sure - do you think your clips are moving out side the TrackIR Field Of View? Personally I set it so that the default view is when I am right back in the seat so its easier to zoom in. -
what did the pilot say? - "oops didnt realise that would happen" - yeah right

Great Britain guts military services.

Nah forget the Fleet Air Arm - the RAF will be flying from Acension in those Tornado GR4s they somehow managed to keep - if we can get a few more tankers from somewhere -

Weapon damage
MigBuster replied to Tenom1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
All of those are effective - I wouldnt bother with Napalm though. The targets actually need a direct hit to destroy them - there is no intermediary effects of the truck catching fire or the crew suffering from other effects a bomb brings I'm afraid. For moving targets cannon and rockets are the best - also use cluster bombs on formations of tanks. For a line of trucks ripple rockets along them - or drop CBUs - works every time. From the mid 70s you can use Mavericks. -

I'm still not convinced they actually need make such cuts in such a short space of time - anyway its a good job the RAF can cover every hot spot around the globe.............oh Typical private company way of doing things - maybe they will outsource everything to the USN. -
AI Aircraft vs SAMS
MigBuster replied to Nicholas Bell's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Kinda - on the good side they will now jettison their stores and deploy counter measures and employ defensive techniques. On the not so good side they will sometimes try to destroy every SAM and AAA site in the area and ignore you. -
Sounds cause mini pauses ?

Game has intergrated my own A-4N into its stock campaigns! How?
MigBuster replied to dtmdragon's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Looks like TK has just put in an A-4N_Ahit type - he does this with a lot of campaigns you will notice. He puts the correct jet the squadron used - then an alternate if it cant be included with the stock game. An example from my SF2I campaign3_data.ini [AirUnit003] AircraftType=A-4N_Ahit_78 AlternateType=A-4H_Ahit_73 Squadron=102IDF ForceID=1 Nation=ISRAEL DefaultTexture=IDFCamo1 BaseArea=Ramon Airbase BaseMoveChance=0 .............. -
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-11511886 Russia inflates its military with blow-up weapons By Steve Rosenberg BBC News, Moscow Blowing up Russia's inflatable army The Russian military has come up with an inventive way to deceive the enemy and save money at the same time: inflatable weapons. They look just like real ones: they are easy to transport and quick to deploy. You name it, the Russian army is blowing it up: from pretend tanks to entire radar stations. The decoys are a hundred times cheaper than the real thing, which means Moscow will save a lot of money by blowing up its own weapons. Continue reading the main story Related stories * Russia boosts military spending * Global military spending surges On the edge of Moscow, two men carry a black duffle bag into a field, then drop it on the ground. When they open the bag, they take out a large sheet of plastic. It looks like a tent or a tarpaulin. In fact, it's the Russian army's latest strategic weapon. It doesn't need ammunition - just air. Continue reading the main story “Start Quote I'm proud to be making entire rocket-launchers and tanks for our armed forces. When you finish sewing them and you watch them being filled with air, it's so satisfying” End Quote Lena, sewer On goes the pump, in goes the air and the plastic sheet begins to rise and take shape. A turret appears, then out pops a long plastic gun barrel. This is an inflatable Russian tank. State-of-the-art When the men pump up their next piece of plastic, this one expands into a S-300 rocket launcher, complete with giant truck and inflatable rockets. It is a cross between a ballistic missile and a bouncy castle. And waiting to be blown up are inflatable MiG fighter jets - even entire Russian radar stations. An inflatable missile-launcher in Russia The inflatables are stitched together at a former hot-air balloon factory These state-of-the-art stand-ins are among the most advanced military decoys in the world. What they lack in firepower, they make up for in flexibility: they are light and can be deployed quickly to deceive the enemy. They are also very realistic. They are made of a special material that tricks enemy radar and thermal imaging into thinking they are real weapons. The inflatables are stitched together at a former hot-air balloon factory.
