Question about ground target designation

From what I remember - certainly on the F-4 you needed a laser pod for the primary also to get the IR view and for it to guide properly - would need to check -
crikey I Didnt realise how wrong it could go. Had a Wisdom tooth out around 5 years back that was sticking into the side of my mouth. One injection, a pair of pliars and a cracking noise and it was out.

Apparently : Although the team has been working hard on DX11 support, there is still a long way to go and it will not be ready in time for A-10C unfortunately. Work continues though and we hope to have it in the next DCS aircraft. As can be seen though, even DX9c looks pretty darn good. This has always been up in the air, and not listed on the A-10C web page for this reason. So i guess that vids in DX 9

Interesting footage thanks -
A well written and comprehensive review - I hope to be upgrading from 4 to 5 over the coming months. For your info there was a big step going from Tir3 to Tir4 - the 4 was much easier to use, worked a lot better and was smaller. This is almost as important edition as a joystick in combat simming.

Is there actually a such thing as an Su-9A?
MigBuster replied to krgf15's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Looking through and trying to understand "Sukhoi Interceptors" by Yefim Gordon - the "Fishpot-A" designation was given by NATO to an experimental Interceptor called the T-3 which flew at a 1956 Airshow and had no radar at the time. About a year later it was given an Almaz 3 radar and PVU-67 computing sight, SRZO-2 IFF system and launch control system for KL-7L AAMs. The nose point does not come from the centre but covers the top half of the nose so it looks different to the Fishpot B. The T-3 "Fishpot A" had no guns (it was designed to have a two 30mm cannon) - and there were a lot of different prototypes in this book leading up to and after the Su-9 Fishpot B which was the only production version (~1000 built) - Some early Fishpot Bs had gun blast plates installed looking at these photos but no cannon were installed. So officially the Su-9A is the Su-9 Fishpot-B - There was no Su-9 Fishpot A, but there was a T-3 Fishpot A Heres a photo from wiki of a Sukhoi T-3 Fishpot A complete with KL-7Ls: -
haha - exactly what I was thinking!

Lockheed in $424 Million F-35 Pentagon Contract
MigBuster replied to Fates's topic in CombatACE News
What I meant was that taking into account the amount of wars the F-16 has been in (quite a few!) this has placed a lot more airframe hours, airframe stress and potential for accidents on top of combat losses. -

They are not cheap enough Im afraid - we may as well buy nothing than waste it on other 4.5 gen jets. -
Realistic Shootdown
MigBuster replied to PvtDK's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
What are you going by to determine what should be "realistic" or not? For a start if you are talking about cannons like the M61A1 you have probably never fired only 1 round - even the shortest burst you can muster is probably around 10 rounds - even if you only see 1 tracer. MiGs blowing up after a short burst of cannon fire - very realistic if you go by actual Israeli pilot accounts. btw one 20mm cannon shell in the right place like a spinning jet engine and its finished - any idea the damage they cause! -
Lockheed in $424 Million F-35 Pentagon Contract
MigBuster replied to Fates's topic in CombatACE News
Attrition would be a concern for the F-22 - apparently 455 x F-16s have been written off since 1979 according to the fleet status on http://www.f-16.net/ Cant see the F-22 seeing anywhere near as many combat sorties - but you never know. -
A very happy birthday to you mr Brain

Not really - havent heard of any of that stuff above. My early memories (late 70s) once led me to a nostalgia search on the net for a cartoon with "G Force" in it which turned out to be "Battle Of The Planets". This apparently is an extremely edited version of a Manga type cartoon called Gatcha Man Team Ninja or something. Needless to say I watched an episode a few years back and it was **** - not what I remembered funnily enough. So anyone thinking of reliving their toddlerhood with this DONT

I could see where that story was going - glad you kept the bike and yourself safe
