A problem with anti shipmissions
MigBuster replied to DoctorWho's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
AFAIK an entry for every target in the terrains _target.ini needs to be added into the terrains movement.ini file for shipping to stop this happening - but thats the only work around I know of unless anyone has something better. -

Yes you really need to spray them - quite a change! -
Mustang a real treat!
MigBuster replied to dsawan's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
First time Ive flown a P-51 since EAW which had the B and D from what I remember. Interestingly shooting down MiG-15s and Vampires was not much of an issue once they decided to get slow, but the Spitfires - difficult to keep up with them, they decimated my entire flight 3 times with those 20mm cannons in a 4v4 - watch out for them! -
A few questions..
MigBuster replied to PoorOldSpike's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The SF2 (and FE2) series do have more features, but also no multiplayer if you like that sort of thing. Over SF1 series its can use DX10, has new 3D jet models and cockpits with more functionality, new RWR avionics like vector and TEWs, is supported on Vista/Win7, and already is taking advantage of multicore CPUs better. If you have a high end system or are getting one with win 7 then its the SF2 series only - Im not even sure the SF1 series will be supported at all anymore. If you are not sure about the games check out my sig - everything up to Strike Fighters 2 is the older SF1 series. -
best method to keep backup of SF@ folder on external drives
MigBuster replied to dsawan's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
If its just a backup and you are running the game from C still - you only need to make a copy of the Mod folders and put them on it. -
Anyone with CTD ...

Damage modeling and AI in SF2
MigBuster replied to guyran's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
TK knows how the damage is modelled - for the rest of us - keep firing until it goes down. Some jets like the SU-7 need even more punishment -
Missing .50 Cal Sounds
MigBuster replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
In case its not obvious the file needed is 50CAL.WAV - can be extracted from another game also (flightdata.cat) -

Nvidia 9400GT
MigBuster replied to 00Mayday00's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Defo turn the shadows to medium or low as a starter. Used to have a GT220 which was supposed to be a rebadged GT9400 low end card and you certainly could not max settings out in SF2 games. -
NF questions and problems
MigBuster replied to Stingray72's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
hmm all 4 worked ok for me about a year back. You are putting this into a separate new install of WOE Oct 2008? The weps editor will need to be in win 98 comp mode to work - other instructions should be in the KB NF1 is an exe so guess you may be specifying the wrong folder. \Objects\Weapons is where weapons live Maybe make another install (copy the folder of a clean copy) and try it again starting with NF1 - I would guess the path should be the top level folder of that install - but cant remember. I think that only NF4 includes the updates for the Oct 2008 version of the game - you have an F-4G that was for an older version of the game - a lot of flight model changes were made in Oct 2008 so you need to get to the stage of installing all 4 parts before using it. -
Wow Crikey - You mean John McClain though? Was trying to link it to the old Vietnam pilot

Hello CIA_Mayday - thanks for dropping by. Not sure if playing custom missions in multiplayer was possible either tbh - I'm sure someone knows. -
Boeing proposes new F/A XX - the NGAD
MigBuster replied to Atreides's topic in Military and General Aviation
I think the A-10C will be around for some time yet - the A-10 was going to be replaced by the A-16 before the end of the Cold War too. Have even seen rumours of a new cheap COIN aircraft being produced. As for the F-35 - well I would guess that what they are getting at - against a 'real' Air defence the F-35 would provide CAS until it was safer to send in slow movers like the A-10. Anything with PGMs can provide CAS these days if you have troops on the ground - for example Ive seen it mentioned that the B-1 is fantastic for CAS, can loiter forever, and carry loadsa bombs. As for poor old Boeing, it seems LM got all the best Jets - never mind am sure they will think of something - be interesting to see if anyone gets the F-15 Silent Eagle - not sure its that much of a bargain either - just bend the tail a bit......... -
Thats interesting - thanks for sharing that info - gives real insight on how SA-7s were actually dealt with in Nam, which I havent seen before.
-
Not sure myself without trying them tbh - be careful if they come with old ini files. If not as a simple mod you could just copy cloud.tga from one of them into the "flight" (MOD) folder which will change the clouds appearance.

Advice on SF2E terrain add ons
MigBuster replied to dtmdragon's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
If you need to actually update the effects then I guess it will be along the lines of no31 in here http://forum.combatace.com/topic/44026-converting-older-planes-to-work-in-sf2-a-basic-guide-by-migbuster/ -
