  1. Fantastic work - much appreciated
  2. Nice - havent seen that before - bet it will be manned though A long way off - in the meantime have seen that the NAVY might be getting 124 more FA-18E/Fs from Boeing.
  3. Happy Birthday

    Happy birthday to you
  4. I have some photos of USAF F-4s in Vietnam, one with 2 ALQ-87s in the wing pylons as above, and one F-4 with an ALQ-87 one side, and an ALQ-101 on the other. There are photos with them just carrying one ECM pod (ALQ-87/81) on the right wing pylon - however in the 1972-73 book I have, most photos have F-4s carrying 1 ECM pod in the front left Sparrow bay. For A-A the Sparrow bay is where you want it despite having to lose an AIM-7, its far less draggy.
  5. The HI res terrain is a reworked terrain with seasons for SF2E - you can download and try it, and if it slows you down too much then take it out again. The HDR mod is not a terrain (even though its in that section) it just gives better frame rates if you have a multicore CPU and run it on Vista/Win 7, and dont use advanced shaders (ie if you are using an older game, or an SF2 game with lower settings, or your card only does DX9). However if you have an SF2 game and your card supports DX10 then using higher settings will use the advanced DX10 shaders giving better rates (or you can force them on) so HDR is maybe not the best option in that case. Im not sure which effects issue you are on about - Nato fighters + in the SF2 section should be set up okay. If not you may just need to add a line to the effects inis - again this is if you use DX10
  6. Needs to be extracted....flightdata.cat in SF2E
  7. Confused!

How big it appears on screen depends on resolution, and browser settings, its CAPITALS that implies shouting I thought. If you cant see the writing then make it bigger. Also look at my signature - thats all the third wire games, the second generation starts at Strike Fighters 2 - these were rewritten to work on Vista/Win 7.
  8. Air power in 'Nam

Crikey - he got very lucky! Was this different to the SA-7?, or was that the version of the stinger you refer to here?
  9. UK-Elections..Hung Parliament

So basically no ones in charge - should be business as normal then
  10. Free Falcon 5 Aircraft in Allied Force

Not that I know of - you can transfer skins over though - its no 2 min job, but there is some instructions in downloads.
  11. Happy Birthday Column5 and Crab_02

    Happy birthday chaps :drinks:
  12. Save them as jpgs - you should be able to put them in your gallery on here then link to
  13. Free Falcon 5 HAL rendering

Only posts ive seen people have had trouble running it in 7 - but as I say trying the FF forums is probably your best bet.
  14. CLUB-K

Great - another flipping nightmare - hope this stays as a cartoon
  15. Dont use the word "Nothing" yeah because otherwise if you are talking about the 60/70s Faster Recce bird = SR-71 Daylight bomber (not counting PGMs)= A-7C/D/E (had a HUD with CCIP AFAIK) You will know from reading the other thread that the quote about the F-8 was kinda debated so no need to raise it again. You would probably end up with a MiG-17F with that little airframe, and not the super fighter you were hoping for. Israel prefered to use the Mirage 3 and Nesher as their primary fighters over the F-4 (which got a fair amount of kills)- but was used mainly in the attack roll. They admit out of the 50s interceptors the Mirage 3 was seen as inferior to the Lightning/MiG-21/F-104/F-106/Draken. But it was as fast and possibly more agile than the F-4. What it lacked was a better radar and could not carry as many A-A missiles, although it did carry the Matra 530 missile (which doesnt seem to have been that good). With nearly 400 kills (1966-74) I certainly wouldnt write the Mirage3/5 of for that era - obviousy US and IDF training helped a tad
  16. Can depend on resolution and monitor size, and I use a trackIR and can zoom in so its less of an issue. How it compares to WOE - not sure.
  17. F-8 Crusader vs MiG-17 in Vietnam

Interestingly there are occasions where you get no calls at all - but not sure what criteria it works on - you have to be alone and the foe not picked up by Redcrown woman.
  18. F-8 Crusader vs MiG-17 in Vietnam

    Well for stats with weapons listed from Iranian F-4 Phantom Units in Combat (1980-1988) F-4E 46 x AIM-9P-1 9 x Cannon 4 x AIM-7-E F-4D 1 x AIM-7E-2 Note kills are mostly MiG-21/MiG-23/Su-20, no MiG-17/19 kills are listed
  19. Best at what? - you need to change it to "favourite jet", or at least remove the 5th Gen fighters (F-35 and F-22)
  20. Nice to see - a big improvement in SF2 with advanced shaders is being able to see flashes of light now from explosions and missile trails - especially in the dark!
  21. Prefer SF2I myself, but saying that Ive been using the others mostly recently. Advantages out of the box for me are the campaigns with tank battles and an effort by TK to put some historical accuracy into them. A small amount of terrain to cover, the IDF camo scheme looks ace, and the stock terrain actually looks good.
  22. Fuel Warning

Never seen this - so I would be checking the startup procedure again in case any switches are in the wrong position, eg is air source on norm, engine feed set to norm, is fuel transfer set to norm....etc
  23. F-8 Crusader vs MiG-17 in Vietnam

I think thats enough said on the matter really (for now )
  24. F-8 Crusader vs MiG-17 in Vietnam

Well for info IDF F-15 kills were mostly WVR (Even the AIM-7 kills) 1979-1985 15.5 x AIM-7, 25.5 x Python 3, 3 x AIM-9, 4 x Cannon Thats from "Israeli F-15 units in combat" USAF in 91 could go BVR if both the IFF and AWACs declared an unfriendly - but even so a USAF F-15C had to merge and get into a traditional turning fight with a MiG-29A when the IFF ID'd it as friendly! Thats from "F-15C Eagle units in combat" Anyway thats for another thread
