Maryland Air National Guard decals for the Wings Over Europe A-10A Thirdwire model for a request 1. Put the 2 folders "ANGMarylandGrey" and "ANGMarylandCamo" into the ...\objects\Aircraft\A-10A folder so ...\objects\Aircraft\A-10A\ANGMarylandGrey ...\objects\Aircraft\A-10A\ANGMarylandCamo 2. Now you need to put COPIES of the stock skins into these folders COPY from the existing skin \USAFGrey1 to \ANGMarylandGrey A-10_1.BMP A-10_2.BMP A-10_3.BMP A-10_4.BMP A-10_5.BMP A-10_6.BMP PATCH.BMP COPY from the existing \USAFGreen1 or 2 to \ANGMarylandCamo A-10_1.BMP A-10_2.BMP A-10_3.BMP A-10_4.BMP A-10_5.BMP A-10_6.BMP PATCH.BMP 3. Paste the Texturesets below into \A-10\A-10.ini (Use Notepad) with the other skin entries - you need to number them correctly otherwise you cant select them from the loadout screen. [TextureSetxxx] Directory=ANGMarylandGrey Name=ANG Grey Maryland Nation=USAF Squadron=104TFS Specular=0.400000 Glossiness=0.400000 Reflection=0.000000 [TextureSetxxx] Directory=ANGMarylandCamo Name=ANG Camo Maryland Nation=USAF Squadron=104TFS Specular=0.400000 Glossiness=0.400000 Reflection=0.000000 4. You can now select the skins from the loadout screen or set them as the default skin ie [TextureSet001] To use the skins in a campaign - you need to extract the campains _data.ini file and change the skin for the unit for example [AirUnit016] AircraftType=A-10A Squadron=104TFS ForceID=1 Nation=USAF StartDate=09/25/1979 DefaultTexture=ANGMarylandGrey <---------------------- ;BaseArea=Warfield ANGB, Maryland BaseArea=Ahlhorn Airbase BaseMoveChance=20 RandomChance=100 MaxAircraft=16 StartAircraft=16 MaxPilots=16 StartPilots=16 Experience=100 Morale=100 Supply=50 MissionChance[sWEEP]=0 MissionChance[CAP]=0 MissionChance[iNTERCEPT]=0 MissionChance[ESCORT]=0 MissionChance=10 MissionChance[CAS]=90 MissionChance[sEAD]=25 MissionChance[ARMED_RECON]=50 MissionChance[ANTI_SHIP]=0 MissionChance[RECON]=0 UpgradeType=FIXED Upgrade[01].Date=9/28/1979 Upgrade[01].Type=A-10A Upgrade[01].Texture=ANGMarylandCamo <----------------------

From: http://www.f-16.net/news_article4065.html F-16s sustain ash damage from Iceland eruption April 19, 2010 (by Asif Shamim) - NATO officials will not fully confirm a report that several F-16s were damaged by the volcanic ash released from Iceland's, Mount Eyjafjallajökull eruption on April 14, which has caused widespread disruption to air travel across most of Europe. Reports indicate that a Belgian F-16 similar to this example sustained ash damage to the engine. A source at NATO would only confirm that the comments had come from a US diplomat, but did not know which of the nations had been affected. However an official with the European Air Traffic Agency was later to have said that an F-16 from the Belgian Air Force had sustained damage. F-16s from several member states are in Europe participating in exercises. Turkish jets are at Laage, Germany participating in 'Brilliant Ardent'. Dutch, Norwegian and Polish units are at Leeurwarden, The Netherlands participating in 'Frisian Flag'. The volcanic ash consists of tiny particles of rock and glass as fine as talcum powder, which under extreme heat fuses onto the blades of an engine, causing imbalances or damaging delicate rotating machine parts, eventual resulting in engine failure. The best example of complete engine failure caused by ash was on June 24, 1982, when a British Airways 747, heading from London to Melbourne, Australia flew through the volcanic ash cloud released by Mount Galunggung, South-east of Jakarta, Indonesia. Fortunately this flight was able to glide clear of the ash cloud and was then able to restart all engines before successfully landing at Jakarta airport. NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said on Monday that the ash cloud was not affecting the alliance's military readiness, although he declined to comment on specific missions. "Our air forces will always take the necessary steps to ensure they are capable to conduct their operations. They have taken the necessary steps and they will take the necessary steps to ensure our territorial defence is secure," he said.

  7. The template should be available today sometime
  8. You can do a rebase in the campaigns data.ini - never tried with carriers though [AirUnit002] AircraftType=F-105D Squadron=13TFS ForceID=1 ....... Rebase[01].Date=11/1965 Rebase[01].BaseArea=Udorn RTAFB
  9. You can change a value in flightengine.ini which you would need to extract and put into the flight folder. Only change this if your system can handle it. [FlightEngine] ....... MaxTimeCompression=16.0 <------ .......

The BBC were reporting today on news 24 that several NATO F-16s had damaged engines due to the ash in the air - but they havnt backed that up or given any other details of where and altitude etc- so not sure how true that is. Scotland and Northern Ireland airspace might be open Tuesday - assuming the wind doesnt change - what a nightmare!
  11. Did you get the unmoddified Stock game to run at all with unlimited settings? In my experience setting the graphics to unlimited would produce really low fps on that rig - gen 1 games are not programmed to use multiple cores at all.
  12. A couple here: http://www.916-starfighter.de/Zipping%20at%20FL%20730.htm http://www.916-starfighter.de/Ruminations%20on%20the%20F-104.htm
  13. anything with more detail than those tiny pics would be useful - have had a look on the net but not much about - have you not taken any digital pics on base at an open day?
  14. Well for starters notice the weapons stations are trying to use USAF attachment types - Last time I checked if you made Turkey an enemy they can only use WP or TURKEY specific weapons - yes this means you need to change the stations to the right type - and create weapons for Turkey if you need to.
  15. Probably something TW would need to change - assume this is SF2V Mar 2010. Not noticed it because on Esort missions I take off, x16 time accel towards the rendevous point (WP3 normally) - when Im close I ask where they are and they are usually near - so I Escort them in (keeping them in sight) and all the way back if I dont get caught up with a MiG.
  16. might be able to - but cant guarantee they will actually go on the nacelles. got any better pics?
  17. G. W. Bush

Thats an interesting point there on numbers - half the battle has been trying to get countries to actually commit more troops! Im not looking on either as defeats though - Iraq will stabilise eventually - just takes a long time without the man power.
  18. Some really great work there guys
  19. Shocking truth about iPad

    Explains everything
  20. World's Strongest Beer...

Nice one - about time too - bottles of whisky just have no effect anymore haha
  21. I dont see this behaviour at all in a virtually stock SF2 (Feb 2010)- they spend about 95% of the time banking tightly and tighter in the horizontal. Even the Il-28s try to follow me these days - and in a large engagement you really have be careful in the stock A-4 or F-100D where its not always easy to keep speed up - and a MiG-19 on your tail is not much fun. Out of the past 4 campaigns I can conclude that they only go a bit straighter when they are landing, tailing a wingman or running away. When they hit bingo fuel they get out of there as fast as possible - have had MiG-17s low on fuel that break when I get a certain distance at very low level at any speed and make pretty hard targets - tried approaching it much slower and it came round at me head on firing. That being said the A-4 campaign was still fairly straight forward if you check your 6 a lot - the AI still needs to be a lot more lethal than it is. I used to rack up scores like the above all the time many years ago!
  22. Yes first thing i press after takeoff if the jet allows - double your ammo time - and it often needs to be doubled in an F-100
  23. Well yeah - I would hope there is a slight improvement in IRST tech over a 50 year period - but even so detecting a MiG-29 at 100KM? maybe flying away in burner perhaps?
  24. No but Ive gone through the YAP versions and that certainly does make you sweat all the way - have even borrowed some of the guns and stuck them in the stock game to make it better. The SA-2F was an unavoidable death ray out of the box which it certainly wasn't judging by the way pilots account on how they avoided SAMs in 70 - 72- its probably gone too far the other way now where it doesnt track sometimes even in level flight - still must be a nightmare for TK getting these little things tested - or to please everyone. Does he implement it like the real SA-2 - in which case does he then make it worse again to create the effect from all the jamming going on by EW flights not modelled in the game. In 1972 these things seem to have been mostly launched ballistically! - so does he nullify them totally then or make the single jamming pods really effective?
