Problems with green hell 2
MigBuster replied to hawk2009's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
you would need to extract the flightengine.ini from the flightdata.cat using the cat extractor tool you can download from this site. instructions are in the old knowledgebase once extracted put the file in the flight folder to make it work -

Not yet - Sundowner is working on an extremely detailed Euro skin for SF2 -
For a start - How fast it runs depends on the PC you are sticking it on :) It might be a good OS - although there may be a few bugs to iron out initially. Is it really available in Germany?? - Microsofts site says its being released on October 22nd

Wings over Vietnam Huey campaign
MigBuster replied to Jack Morris's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yes agree with Malibu totally - the campaign is not really set up for choppers - even with a lot of work it still wouldnt be great- however YAP2 has some amazing chopper models and a good variety of custom single missions and custom ground objects! but i suppose you get what you pay for :) these were some of the few in yap1 - will probably be in yap2 at some point : -
The Media have been against both wars since day 1 - although I was actually thinking their attitude had got better over the past few years - although im talking about the BBC - because tbh I havnt read a paper (yesterdays news) for years. IMO they havn't critised the troops - the main story is always how the government is not giving the troops what it needs. The objectives were too ambitious and well under funded. To be fair to labour they are getting new vehicles out there - although even the newer ones like the Viking have been had by the shaped charged IEDs Weve lost 15 this week but - its a major offensive!! what do they think war is - are the press retarded or just trying to stir up opinion (ok both) Ok Afganistan UK dead is 184 in 8 years! - and its manly down to driving those pathetic snatch landrovers (be just as safe driving a Ford Fiesta!!) - and of course the Nimrod that came down due to an electrical fault (you could say why is a jet based on the Comet still flying!!) - the press never put sown real comparisons so i will So: 2001 to 2009 - 8 years in Afghanistan - 184 UK Dead 1964 - 1972 - 8 year Vietnam war >65,000 US dead 1916 1st July Battle of the Somme - 20,000 (UK only) dead in 1 day

in regards to loadout screens - it can be controlled here: [LeftWingtipStation] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=9 StationGroupID=5 <--------------------defines order shown on screen from top to bottom StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=-9.5,0.550,0.50 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 LoadLimit=2041.2 AllowedWeaponClass=FT AttachmentType=NATO,USAF FuelTankName=Tank_B57 If you have stations with the same group number they will be shown on the same line in the loadout screen and can be selected together - so change them to how you need them -

Canberra B-57G for "Strike Fighters 2: Vietnam" by Ahmed Junaid Raza New Avionics and TV by MiGBuster USAF2 Tropic Moon skin by MiGBuster READ the instructions - includes how to use the TV/FLIR etc 16 B-57Bs were converted to B-57G standard and used in Vietnam from 1970 to 1972 flying from Tailand for the Tropic Moon III project, and was a pioneer in laser guided technology. The B-57G had built in sensors such as a low light TV system, FLIR, and a laser giudance system. This enabled it to carry 4 x 500lb Laser guided bombs and self designate targets for them. The 20mm wing cannons were deleted due to the weight of the LGBs. 4 bombs were also carried in the bomb bay (unconfirmed). Its mission was to hunt trucks over the notorious Ho Chi Minh Trail. Beginner question: How to change aircraft skins in SF2?
MigBuster replied to deiwi's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
No workaround needed because they work - you either have them in the wrong place - or you have the wrong path specified in the decals.ini file for the skin - Look at section 2 here: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=44026 -

How do I take off with the Harrier SF2E?
MigBuster replied to DarthRevan's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Sorry I mean roll along the runway until I hit some speed What i mean is - if you do manage to take off vertically - or after rolling and use the nozzles to do so - once you are airbourne and gained some height (lift) - you cant put the nozzles right back until you have gained enough forward motion (thrust) to keep you in control. you gain the forward motion by moving the nozzles back slightly, and dipping the nose This is not textbook stuff btw - this is me mucking around with a Harrier!! -
Welcome!! Wow - since 3!! - mind you flight sims and home computers didnt exist when i was 3 - thats my excuse :)

MigBuster replied to deiwi's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Yeah thats right - the other files are hidden away - put the skins in the F-4 folder so you end up with: Desert1 F-4D.ini VFxxx VFxxx Can you not select the skin in the loadout screen? make sure the skins files are not in another subfolder -
Is F-16 the only modern US jet fighter to have "blocks"?
MigBuster replied to SFP1Ace's topic in Military and General Aviation
The latest and most advanced version of the F-16 is the F-16E and F-16F which are both Block 60s - they are currently in service with the UAE AF Lockheed Martin have proposed a similar version for India which may even be classed as a Block 70 if they get the contract. -

MigBuster replied to DarthRevan's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Ive only used the hard flight model - is that what you are using? how are you controlling this - do you roll to about 100kts then change the nozzles?? Bear in mind that when you get airbourne you cant just change the nozzles back to the other extreme - move then back slowly until you reach about 300kts then put them back fully - also after you take off keep your flaps down for a bit until you maintain control -
Hitting moving trucks with laser guided bombs
MigBuster posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Wish I played this game more - last time I used LGBs they could only hit a static main target!!! So I'm not sure when this functionality was added but: find the trucks on radar: Spot them on Low Light TV Target them in FLIR and lock the laser on (well press E) Watch the GBU-12 make changes and fly towards the truck: Watch it from the comfort of the cockpit muhahaha: We can finally then have a B-57G that does what its supposed to do over the Ho Chi Minh Trail! Best bit is - all the wingmen fire them at the trucks too - and get kills!!! -

The last time i used an LGB you could only target the main mission target - which was obviously some time ago! im not sure when this abilty came in - needless to say im not bothering to test it on older games so it either works or doesn't -

no mod folder second post for help
MigBuster replied to manlyman564's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Most of the design changes were made to deal with Vistas UAC according to him - his games have to work properly out of the box im afraid - and he has compensated us in some other ways. Keeping the mod files separate to the game files is much better for newbies - who stand less chance of messing up the game install. The new merged install is miles better - also requiring only 1 patch install. Weapons are now plug and play like the Aircraft
