Its rare but ive seen similar things in the game - and been annoyed. Premature proximity fuse not getting close to cause enough damage maybe. -
Question about F-4 loadouts
MigBuster replied to malibu43's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Actually - I have a couple of photos of a very weird USAF F-4D Loadout - (well to me) Inner wing pylons both have TERs and a single AIM-4D on each inner rail on each TER there is: 2 x MK82 1 x ALQ-87 on the bottom rail also 6 x MK82s on centerline MER 2 x AIM-7s in Bays 2x 370 tanks If i get access to a scanner will put em up -

Gawd - no doubt UK people on here probably remember the "Carry on up the Khyber" comedy film - where a British Garrison in the 1800s held order in part of India because everyone feared them - until they found out the soldiers all wore pants under there kilts! - and there was a massive revolt :) hope the same thing doesn't happen there lol -
Question about F-4 loadouts
MigBuster replied to malibu43's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yes what mppd said + they also used versions of the ALQ-101 and others of that era like the ALQ-87 - in fact there is an early ECM pod pack somewhere for download - which includes different versions of each pod also. The electronic war in Vietnam developed fairly quickly - ECM pods would be used - then the NVA SAM operators found a way to beat the jamming - so newer pods were used, then the NV would beat it again using other techniques such as "Home On Jamming" - and the next pods would beat that etc etc. I noticed in SF2V TK has renamed the QRC-160-1 which was the original naming convention for the ALQ-71 (I think) and has put in the ALQ-101 by default - and has even put default ECM loadouts on most of the jets now - although on the F-4 this is always the inboard wing pilots. Where as a single pod in a forward sparrow bay was more common later in the war on the real jets from what i can see. Still saved me a bit of work - had to change the whole lot in WOV -

Sound Mod
MigBuster replied to ktickner6767's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
What mod is that? Im guessing you have a windloop.wav - which would go into the "Sounds" folder - and in SF2 you would need to create that in your my docs folder: C:\Documents and Settings\<name>\My Documents\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2\Sounds -
When i use rudders in maneuvers ?
MigBuster replied to Mohamed's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
sometimes handy on landings too - or just low speed in general. -
Judging by the amount of new and different cockpits (F-100D has 3 different pits by itself) and new models that came with SF2 and SF2V TKs got his work cut out with SF2E - but am definitely looking forward to it I'm sure there will be some nice surprises in it however I would expect the following flyables: Mirage 3 F-15A F-16A A-10A F-4C/D/E/F/FGR2 Harrier GR1/3/ AV8A F-100D F-105D Hawker Hunter Maybe the following thrown in as AI Vautour Super Mystere A-1H/J Be interesting to see - wasn't expecting an A-1s to show up before!! - Maybe an F-15C with Pit

SF2:Europe
MigBuster replied to MigBuster's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hope not - TK said the A-6A was out because he would have wanted to put a DIANE in which was too complex time wise. The F-104G was left out of SF2 I'm assuming for the reason it was taken out of SF Gold in 2004 - something to do with the Lockheed name from what I remember?? -

SF2 and SFV2 Issues
MigBuster replied to James Fox's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I hadn't noticed myself - but you have to be pretty intimate with a jet to notice things like that I guess. are you able to post a screenshot? - a picture says a 1000 words etc - there are lots of nationalities on here. The Shift F-5 view is not a realistic view - notice how it sits above the top of the cockpit glass. Certainly the F-105 doesn't have a rear canopy it just kinda ends and blends into the fuselage. Now i get this by default - which says to me there is no problem: If i zoom out I do get a hole in the fuselage and can see bombs - this is something you can mention to TK - personally I think that shift F5 view should be removed from the sim :) -
Problems I just can't fix

Quick sand?? Saw something similar in WOV near rivers - could be a bug or something defining that part of the ground as a non solid - not sure sorry -

Help a noob here?
MigBuster replied to dada1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Yeah - Its going to be a while until many things are redone specifically for the new SF2 series. People have put the Green Hell 2 tree mod into SF2V - and that will tell you which terrain to use. Be careful on file paths though - the terrain will need to go in your my documents now - which on XP would be here: C:\Documents and Settings\<name>\My Documents\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 Vietnam\Terrains\VietnamSEA Which is totally different to where the game is installed - a good attempt to separate the modded files and stop people deleting core files i guess Note you have to create the Terrains and VietnamSEA folders yourself. if your not sure look at some other threads first -

Dont get what your on about in regards to the IRs - you mean AIM-9s? is it the firing order that you think is wrong? Some cockpit dials wont work - its always been the way - on the essential ones will work - but understandable - this is not a study sim with 1 jet and TW have limited budget / time . To rectify it may need changing the 3D model so maybe not. Shift F5 on what jet? - sorry i never use it - bit of a cheat really in most of the jets when you have trackir :) The position of the cockpit or that viewpoint may need changing i guess -
Guess so - but understandable to me - this sim is primarily not concerned with an era that was done to death in sims.

Looking to purchase new PC...
MigBuster replied to ktickner6767's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Looks alright for most things - but for TW games on max probably not. - pretty sure you need a dual core with faster clock speed IMO to run on full max. The TW games are not optimised to take advantage of Dual Core - even though they run slightly better on dual core and the SF2 series seem to run faster anyway due to whatever tweaks have been put into it by TK. Someone with a similar system could probably say for sure - although ask them how it runs over Hanoi with loads of SAMs in the air :) There was a thread on frame rates yesterday btw -
