Vertical takeoff with Harrier - is it possible?
MigBuster replied to guyran's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yeah unfortunately though the F-4 doesnt have the stovl capability that they probably sought What version are you talking about above all of them? do you have any actual figures? Its low speed capability was supposed to be flippin excellent considering it has no afterburner - and its probably one of the few jets that could actually hide its heat sig in A-A to some degree - although i suspect you are talking about MANPAD exposure - is there evidence the heat sig is more than the A-10s for example? Think we can conclude that the Harrier was a very difficult jet to fly - let alone landing it vertically on a ship - I suspect with fly by wire earlier in its career may have helped a few things - and I suspect the F-35B will be a lot safer from the get go - however something had to pioneer the way and respect to the brave blokes who have had the guts to fly it over the years. -
If you have the original game then step 1 is probably to down load the latest patch from thirdwire and install that - will change a few things. http://www.thirdwire.com/downloads.htm I assume you didnt buy the expansion pack? https://store.thirdwire.com/store.htm

MigBuster replied to scouserlad13's topic in The Pub
good luck mate!! - an aptitude test i did for the raf was secondary / GCSE level Maths/english/science with memory tests thrown in. The difficult thing about it was they only give you a few minutes to complete loads of em!! -
Well the F-16 pilot hasnt even bothered to jettison his drop tanks so im guessing he aint taking MiG-21s too seriously :)

Can you host your screenshots at photobucket? What game are you playing woi/woe? What version of the game do you have Nov2008 Oct2008 etc? Was the Mod created to work in your current game and version? -
Mirage Aircraft
MigBuster replied to Spiff's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
In the standard games - WOI and SF2 - there is the Mirage 5D for Libya Israel has the Mirage 3CJ (shahak) and (Nesher/Kfir) IAI versions of Mirage 5 in WOI -
If you have a lot of TW installs for campaigns you could just copy the folders over to an external flash drive - then copy one over to the PC HD when you need to play it.

Where are the Aircraft
MigBuster replied to warthog64's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
If you want to fly them there is a way - they at least need cockpits or a reference to a cockpit to be seen in the single mission selectables - have a look in the knowledgebase for instructions -
How do you manage your squadron?
MigBuster replied to hgbn's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Mission dependent really - sometimes take a few as personal air escorts :) - but mainly its just a 2 ship to limit the amount that get blown out of the sky. -
Are flight sims going out of style?
MigBuster replied to Emp_Palpatine's topic in General Flight Sim Discussion
So the 4th Sim in Dev is Lead Pursuits successor to Falcon 4.0 - nothing released yet but im pretty hopeful something will be said about it soon. (14 days maybe) Dont see why less kids would be interested in Jets - we are still fighting 2 wars involving them - and they still hold the status they always did - which is of an untouchable dream to get to fly one for most! One issue could be that the news seems to report freindly fire incidents and bombing of innocents regularly - which could have a negative impact on common people - lets face it people hate bombers they always have - but love fighters because they protect the civilians by shooting down the bombers etc!! You never know another Hollywood blockbuster to fuel the imagination and hey presto lol -

MigBuster replied to Emp_Palpatine's topic in General Flight Sim Discussion
think the golden age of flight sims is long gone - now everyones tried it once lol There doesnt need to be a new golden age - but an age of stability would be nice. Lets just prey TK doesnt get bored :) -

MigBuster replied to Bossco82's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
The wingmen are ace since the recent patches at taking out AAA etc. The problems with Shrikes is that you cant guarantee a hit. -

Which Do You Prefer?
MigBuster replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Used to be Knife Fights only but do loads of bombing these days - thou has to be light attack - not interested in heavy bombers! In this sim you can bomb the target and then have a dogfight and a few near misses - thats a good mission for me - especially if 20 Mig-17Fs have been shot down along the way. With the better AI the dogfights are more worth it and challenge you to improve on your previous tactics. FE is knife fights only - had some classics in that - great fun!! -
F16 hud
MigBuster replied to Romflyer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
the pit you have with the dodgy hud is the correct layout for the F-16C and D models - just needs a new HUD putting on it and completing Try downloading some of the C models and see if any come with a better HUD for now -

F16 hud
MigBuster replied to Romflyer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The pit in that photo is in the F-16E and F Block 60s only - in the TW series we only have completed F-16A early block pits - one from Mirage Factory - the other from Thirdwire that comes with WOI -
haha - HOW did she turn it over going into that drive???
-
Haha - they cant even locate themselves at a range 2ft - jeez thats impressive. They need a big window .......or not
