MigBuster replied to cora's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
see fubar512s post above Most of the add on flight models are probably only tested in Normal/Hard anyway -
Changing 'Campaign Aircraft'
MigBuster replied to joes_shop's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Extract the campaigns data.ini file (ie woeCamp1_date.ini) from the cat file in the flight folder find the unit you want to change and add this with the plane you want to upgrade to during the campaign - obviously changing the date etc to what you want: UpgradeType=FIXED Upgrade[01].Date=10/8/1973 Upgrade[01].Type=A-10 Upgrade[01].Texture=USAFGrey1 -

Russian Weapons and ECM/Countermeasures
MigBuster replied to DarthRevan's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
AIM-9J was pants -did get kills but quite a few fired in 72 by the USAF and quite a lot went no where near according to pilot accounts - the N/P were later improved versions of the J and still only rear aspect - dont know about the N but the later P variant was used by Iran and had good combat performance according to Iranian accounts. Poor old Iraq its written that they were so shocked with the R-13/R-13R performance compared to Irans AIM-9P that they purchased AIM-9Bs from Jordan in 83 - and French Magic R550s in 81 and 84. -
Help Help Help WOI
MigBuster replied to Wraith27's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
think NFG posted a fix for opening canopies in WOI - look in downloads as for the other things - the flight models obviously need to be revised. -
Russian Weapons and ECM/Countermeasures
MigBuster replied to DarthRevan's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The flares/chaff dont seem anywhere near as effective in WOI - if you are that bothered though you can use the weapons editor to make better R-40s like I did for my WOE install. As for the R-40T/R what was the success rate of those fired in combat and testing - and against what ECM systems were they launched against? and in what environment? well good luck finding that out - so on that basis you just have to guess. -

We just had the wettest Aug summer on record In deference to The Archbishop of Canterbury and The Royal Commission for Political Correctness, it was announced today that the local climate in the UK should no longer be referred to as 'English Weather.' * Rather than offend a sizeable portion of the population, it will now be referred to as 'Muslim Weather.' In other words ........ partly Sunni, but mostly Shi'ite.

MigBuster replied to Wraith27's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
If I understand what you want to do - you need to Change it in the individual aircrafts data.ini eg [LeftOuterWingStation] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=1 StationGroupID=1 <------------------------------- StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=-3.47,0.37,-1.18 AttachmentAngles=0.0,-2.0,0.0 LoadLimit=1400 AllowedWeaponClass=BOMB,LGB,ARM,GP,IFP,MER,RP AttachmentType=NATO,USN,UK ModelNodeName=wing_pylon_outer_left01 PylonMass=52.62 PylonDragArea=0.02 [LeftInnerWingStation] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=3 StationGroupID=3 <----------------------------- StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=-2.05,2.74,-1.28 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 LoadLimit=1400 AllowedWeaponClass=BOMB,LGB,EOGB,NUC,EOGR,CGR,ARM,EP,TER,TLR,RP AttachmentType=NATO,USN,UK ModelNodeName=AdapterLeft ;PylonMass= ;PylonDragArea= LaunchRailNodeName= MinExtentPosition= MaxExtentPosition= [RightInnerWingStation] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=4 StationGroupID=3 <---------------------------------------- StationType=EXTERNAL AttachmentPosition=2.05,2.74,-1.28 AttachmentAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 LoadLimit=1400 AllowedWeaponClass=BOMB,LGB,EOGB,NUC,EOGR,CGR,ARM,EP,TER,TLR,RP AttachmentType=NATO,USN,UK ModelNodeName=AdapterRight ;PylonMass= ;PylonDragArea= LaunchRailNodeName= MinExtentPosition= MaxExtentPosition= -
Merging WOE into WOI
MigBuster replied to PIGHUNTA69's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Id rather have the many much needed improvements that came with WOI regardless tbh - if thats what it takes to get MiGs that actually put up a fight then so be it. -
Wonder if that thing is invisible to police speed radars?

A campaign will crash on Esc if the strategic nodes are not done properly ive found - testing every single path probably isn't feasible - is that the stock campaign? -
Am I mad - Falcon 4 Vs WoX
MigBuster replied to Sentry11's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
If you have a lot of time on your hands to play them why not - cant really compare them though F4 is so different to wox -
MIG 25 SPEED
MigBuster replied to FLOGGER23's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Assume you mean SA-5 Gammon? Iranian F-4s with Sparrows had no luck intercepting Soviet MiG-25s either - the overflights had to be halted though when the F-14A /AIM-54A weapon system showed up and locked one up at about 65,000ft. If the MiG-31/25 had an equal system it could have made the difference. -
WoV Issue
MigBuster replied to rovert97's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Good point - always used to play it like that - safest place to be in the default game - must be why i never noticed much of a FR drop. Can be a bit of a pain dropping iron at low level though - and head on low against the ZPUs etc can be suicide. -
Impression of WOI ater the New Patch
MigBuster replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Not sure if this was there pre patch but my flight in the previous 2 campaigns all had Neshers / Shahaks that can supercruise. I turn on my burner - and they stay in military power regardless - and keep up with me no problem! Beginning to think i need to reinstall tbh -
ANTI RADAR MISSILES USE
MigBuster replied to FLOGGER23's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Maybe 9 miles out, nose up and launch - never had much luck close in with shrikes. expect a lot to miss - If the sam radar goes off its likely a miss too -

Strange Problem in WOI post Aug 2008 Patch
MigBuster replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Hadnt noticed tbh - will keep a look out The only weird thing ive seen is when viewing a ZPU gun by an airbase - move the camera around and the entire concrete section of the airbase slid away ( like someone pulling a table cloth off a table very quickly) - only seen it once so probably just a one off hopefully - so confident in that analysis i didnt even bother checking to see which airbase it was :) -
