Couple of questions on WOI
MigBuster replied to Miracles's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well we all want this that and the other - but thats not going to happen - unless you are prepared to mod the game yourself - if you read the link in my signature about 3rd wire you may understand why. What radar guided missile are you using here? and on what jet? In general a cockpit light tells you the missile is locked and in range - it doesnt signify that the missile is within its correct parameters to be fired. Relax the stick before launching it - the later Sparrows are better - but in the F-15 you will find that the AI Migs will beam you at range breaking your lock and making the sparrow go balistic - therefore launch Within Visual range. -
Looking for Simon - Firefly´s designer...

You could PM the guy - it should send an email to him also. He'll be glad to hear from you no doubt -
Heres an interesting read by Alexander Mladenov (Oct 2003) on the Mig-23 (have got the PDF of the original article somewhere) http://www.xairforces.com/analyses/mig-23.html

Most of the Migs were engaged over North Korea from what ive read - intercepting UN bombers and in fact Mig Alley is near the North Korean / Chinese Border - so if they ejected they stood a good chance of landing their side of the DMZ. It is said that for obvious political reasons communist bloc pilots seldom ventured over UN held territory - so they wouldnt be captured and start WW3 etc - Im pretty sure Russia has admited to sending its pilots to fight over N Korea btw

Looks totally amazing - as usual CA -
Unless the cabling was damaged or sabotaged after it was installed - theres no excuse for that. Like the way they use they are in a war zone as an excuse - unless they are pinned down by bullets when doing the job it should be done properly without fail.

Max speed 1171 km/h?
MigBuster replied to darkjak's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The HUD is dependant on the cockpit and jet you fly - looks like hes flying an F-14 above Dont know what game you have but in WOV only the A-7E had a full HUD in that era AFAIK - and you can download that on this site - all the others in Nam at best had a lead computed gunsight only. -
LOL - well if at first you dont suceed - give up - should be every kids motto those SP clips are funny - havnt seen those!

Wasnt sure there were that many over here - now I know! WASHINGTON: The United States has removed its nuclear arsenal in Britain, ending its half-century deployment there and reducing its European nuclear deployment to six locations in five countries, a report said. The withdrawal follows the removal of nuclear weapons from the Ramstein Air Base in Germany in 2005 and Greece in 2001, according to the The Federation of American Scientists (FAS) Strategic Security Blog, citing unidentified sources. The United States now has an estimated 150 to 240 B61 nuclear bombs scattered in Europe -- at the US Air Force bases at Aviano AB in Italy and Incirlik in Turkey, and at four European bases, in Belgium, Germany, Holland and Italy, the blog said. In November 2000, then president Bill Clinton authorized the Pentagon to deploy 110 nuclear bombs at the Royal Air Force Lakenheath air base, 113 miles (70 miles) northeast of London, the report said. There were 480 atomic bombs in Europe at the time, it said. President George W. Bush updated the authorization in May 2004 with an apparent order to remove the nuclear weapons from Ramstein, the blog said. The directive might have also authorized the pullout from Lakenheath, it said. Asked by reporters Thursday if the reported withdrawal was true, US Defense Secretary Robert Gates said: "I haven't gotten that question since I've been secretary of defense, but I think I'm not supposed to talk about that." Will assume Win XP SP2? You havnt got a Direct2Drive version have you? Also check out Lead Pursuits web site - because I think there maybe something relating to a similar error on there. The only patch you should need is the full 1.0.13 one from LPs site - not the incremental one. Whats the current version of the game? Have you tried reinstalling it?

WOE:BC F-16C Block 30
MigBuster replied to KingAlbert's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
The AIM-120 wasnt used (fired) in the 1991 gulf war and AFAIK: In September 1991, IOC (Initial Operational Capability) was achieved for the AMRAAM on USAF F-15 aircraft. The F-16 followed in January 1992, and the Navy in October 1993. Full-rate production of the missile was approved in April 1992, marking Milestone III. (f-16.net) Although the site manages to contradict itself elsewhere by saying the block 30B was wired for AIM-120s in 1987 - although will assume that was for testing etc. So AIM-9L/M would probably be correct - nothing concrete on whether the Block 30 was wired for the AIM-7 in USAF service either. -

Just as we thought NATO was falling apart: PARIS: French President Nicolas Sarkozy announced a major overhaul of the country's defense to better meet new threats like terrorism. Mr. Sarkozy also announced France was ready to rejoin NATO's military wing, after a four-decade absence. President Sarkozy presented France's new defense strategy in a much awaited speech, outlining a leaner military that he argued would be better equipped to respond to terrorism, missile attacks and other modern-day threats. Mr. Sarkozy said that six or seven years from now, French forces will total 225,000. He acknowledged that amounted to a steep cut from their current level of 270,000, and that bases would be closed. But he vowed to make France even stronger militarily than it is today. While Mr. Sarkozy said the government was looking for cost cutting measures, he also said it would spend roughly $4.6 billion more annually to equip its forces. The French president also said France aims to soon return to NATO's military command after pulling out in 1966. Mr. Sarkozy said those who authored the defense report saw no reason why France should not participate in NATO's defense wing. He said France would retain complete freedom on deciding whether or not to participate in military operations and officials say it would remain in control of its nuclear-defense program. Mr. Sarkozy has also emphasized building up the EU military capabilities, and had been expected to push this when France takes over the bloc's rotating presidency next month. But he may now face a roadblock, since Ireland rejected the EU treaty that is aimed to further integrate Europe, including its defense strategy. from Article

MigBuster replied to dynamios's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Have you extracted the campaign_data.ini file from the cat file in the flight folder as stated in the above link? The extraction tool is on this site - you need to download and install the SFP1E extraction tool. New Member Questions about Addons
MigBuster replied to Killer010793's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
My tip for the day would be - install only Plane/mod at a time - and each time test it in single mission mode to make sure everythings there before going on to the next one. Reason being if you add 10 at a time say - and the game crashes its a lot harder to find which mod is causing the crash -
Nah never played it - but did the BOB thing years back with other games. besides after 4 years - am finally playing an F-104C Rolling Thunder campaign in WOV :blush2:
