Just as we thought NATO was falling apart: PARIS: French President Nicolas Sarkozy announced a major overhaul of the country's defense to better meet new threats like terrorism. Mr. Sarkozy also announced France was ready to rejoin NATO's military wing, after a four-decade absence. President Sarkozy presented France's new defense strategy in a much awaited speech, outlining a leaner military that he argued would be better equipped to respond to terrorism, missile attacks and other modern-day threats. Mr. Sarkozy said that six or seven years from now, French forces will total 225,000. He acknowledged that amounted to a steep cut from their current level of 270,000, and that bases would be closed. But he vowed to make France even stronger militarily than it is today. While Mr. Sarkozy said the government was looking for cost cutting measures, he also said it would spend roughly $4.6 billion more annually to equip its forces. The French president also said France aims to soon return to NATO's military command after pulling out in 1966. Mr. Sarkozy said those who authored the defense report saw no reason why France should not participate in NATO's defense wing. He said France would retain complete freedom on deciding whether or not to participate in military operations and officials say it would remain in control of its nuclear-defense program. Mr. Sarkozy has also emphasized building up the EU military capabilities, and had been expected to push this when France takes over the bloc's rotating presidency next month. But he may now face a roadblock, since Ireland rejected the EU treaty that is aimed to further integrate Europe, including its defense strategy. from Article

Maybe an already known question..

Have you extracted the campaign_data.ini file from the cat file in the flight folder as stated in the above link? The extraction tool is on this site - you need to download and install the SFP1E extraction tool. New Member Questions about Addons

My tip for the day would be - install only Plane/mod at a time - and each time test it in single mission mode to make sure everythings there before going on to the next one. Reason being if you add 10 at a time say - and the game crashes its a lot harder to find which mod is causing the crash -
Nah never played it - but did the BOB thing years back with other games. besides after 4 years - am finally playing an F-104C Rolling Thunder campaign in WOV :blush2:

either give us a list of the files in the zip file, a direct link to where you got that skin from, or send it in a PM

1. Sorry I thought you meant in your earlier post that the IR missile would be fired before the radar missile. 2. That comes back to what Jedi says above - when it switches from INS to its IR seeker what exactly does it lock onto? this sounds almost like a LOAL scenario. INS would just get the missile to a point - the target would be long gone - so without radar providing updates to the missile about where the actual target is - surely the IR seeker will just lock onto any jet in that area? Also to get firing information initially for the IR missile would the radar of the attacking jet need to switch to a mode like STT - because this would be picked up by the passive RWR and signify a radar lock at least. Assume it was hoped at the time that any target would be expecting a SARH shot only at range and so would be surprised by a long range IR missile?

Finally - contract signed for new Aircraft Carriers
MigBuster replied to MigBuster's topic in Military and General Aviation
Yeah me too - but its kept a lot of people in work and IMO is badly needed! Just nice to have some real carriers again Dont worry N im sure somone will make some nice roundels for you btw -
Slave it to radar would be my guess for long range shots - but then does the radar keep providing the missile with updates till its IR seeker gets anything?? - in which case a launch could be like a SARH one. If they did launch the IR missile first as said above by Tomas - then "answers on a postcard" as to why. Maybe because a SARH missile would have to be guided - so fire the IR as fire and forget (or go F&F at some stage) then fire the radar shot and guide it in. There may be different versions of the R-77 - although its always labelled as active radar homing - so would imply it uses a radar in its terminal phase with some kind of home on jam backup I guess there could be IR versions - did have a look for Vympels web site - but funnily enough cant find it.

Kreelins KMD mission editor is in downloads in the third wire utilities and editors section. If you dont use that - you can use Notepad - which is a lot more time consuming i imagine - you will already have some missions in the games mission folder (.msn files) that you can open up and see how its done. -

B-52 Airborne Electronic Attack Technical Maturation Contract awarded Written on June 27, 2008 – 9:25 pm | by FIDSNS | The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] has been awarded a $14.9 million contract by the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory to develop and mature technologies required to enable airborne electronic attack from long distances, filling the stand-off electronic attack role. The contract includes systems engineering studies focusing on potential pod installation on the B-52H aircraft, as the designated demonstration airframe. This effort will advance the technology required for the planned Core Component Jammer (CCJ). “We look forward to maturing the planned CCJ technology, which will keep our warfighters safer as they complete missions in the air and on the ground,” said Scot Oathout, director of B-52 Programs for Boeing. “This is the first step in getting this capability fielded, and the B-52H is the right platform to mature this technology.” The multi-mission B-52H is the only platform in the Air Force inventory that accommodates all necessary attributes for jamming electronic attacks while delivering its full complement of weapons, including responsiveness, range, loiter time, size and power. “Adding this capability to the B-52H will strengthen its position as the most versatile aircraft in the U.S. inventory,” said Jeff Weis, CCJ program manager for Boeing. “The B-52 will still be able to deliver precision weapons on target while protecting other allied forces in theater.” The Boeing-led team will employ the electronic-attack expertise of Bethpage, N.Y.-based Northrop Grumman Integrated Systems. After successful completion of this initial three-year effort, a follow-on effort to demonstrate in-flight, stand-off jamming on the B-52 is scheduled for 2011-2012. from Article

Not sure what else to suggest - try disabling your Anti virus software before running the game. Also try changing some of the advanced Nvidia settings - or set up a profile for SFG. In regards to drivers you can find different versions on nvidias web site http://arg.nvidia.com/page/home.html If its still not working - this is the reinstall procedure you should have carried out before: 1. Uninstall the game 2. find the folder you installed it in (example: C:\prog~\SFG) and delete any remaining files. 3. restart the PC 4. reinstall the game 5. install patch v5-15-06 6. test game 5. install patch v8-30-06 7. test game -

Good point - I always stick 1 on each wing in the default loadout (apart from on the A-10)- probably because the lack of trim control annoys me! -

Have you tried running the game in different screen resolutions from the in game options menu? If you have a valid copy of SFG and its definately installed correctly - it should have no problems running on your PC - its either a Windows problem - or its your geforce drivers at a guess. So if you havnt already - defrag your drives, run scandisk, run a virus scan etc If you think Windows is in good working order - then you may want to consider using different drivers - I currently use NVidia Forceware 84.21 - though whatever you do its up to you My DirectX Version is: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) -

Or if you are lazy like me - just jettison the bomb racks (ctrl+J)- it should trim out ok then Ive had the issue with stock AC too - have just put up with it - like having no braking parachute when pressing ctrl+B -
Your using SkinPack Installer V1.0 yeah Click on the "Directory" button and select the folder where you have placed the skins Then click on the down arrow next to the drop down box. If no entries appear then the skins you have in that folder are in the wrong format or they are not for AF. Are they defo .skn files or are they .zips?

Well most things becomes obsolete one day - but at the moment stealth is having its day so to speak - and its a massive advantage if applied correctly it would seem. How long it lasts - who knows - but I doubt the US will be sitting on its ass waiting for someone to find a cure.
