FAC mission type and loadout
MigBuster replied to KingAlbert's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Would be a challenge flying a bird dog low and slow against the lethal AAA in this sim and the Migs - I believe YAP2 will feature player flyable FAC missions so expect small arms fire too. In Falcon 4 you lock up ground targets and then assign flights checked in with you to attack it - not always an easy job though. To do that in this series I guess the flights assigned must be part of your squadron. -

SHould have said really Convert the pic to a JPEG/ JPG - you can do that by using the Save As in your photo editor (ie gimp, photoshop, Windows picture manager etc) You shouldnt lose much quality (if you do just install gimp) - and basically you end up with a much smaller file. PhotoBucket is good in that after you have uploaded your jpg - it has some boxes below it with the links you can copy. You can then just copy the URL of the image and come back here - click the insert image button then paste the url youve just copied from photobucket into the box -
Try this in SF! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/7406041.stm

I think a lot can change over 20 years and in some respects it has. I would put the the technology growth since 1988 down to a steady growth in the computing industry caused by cheap silicon enabling better hardware and thus better software. Electrical and mechanical components can now be made with more precision and more compact because of this. In some ways you could say that since 1988 there have been only gradual changes linked to this growth - eg for military AC - Better avionics, more intelligent missiles, more efficient and powerful jet engines, and better wireless data communication techniques. As far as stealth goes - well er better ways to maintain the RAM coating on the F-22 I suppose - pretty sure the shape and fly by wire system could have been done back in 88 anyway. Lasers, Scramjets and AI have been researched for years so far - we just need the breakthrough. And if Lasers can shoot down rockets that is something we do actually need now - so you think a lot would be going into it. The optimistic outlook on Lasers and AI seems to have turned sour recently - I only studied AI for a year so know sweet FA - however some top bods are pretty much dismissing intelligent AI with emotion at the mo. As for the head of LM's quote - if he has a spaceship that can do Warp 10 and that transporter thing then that would be some trick. -
Well said that girl - some good coverage on the BBC today also.

Hello Vulture - welcome to CA The answer is I cant remember tbh - always lose my pilot after reinstalling - and im not that bothered about keeping the log (I know you can) Anyway looks like you are not far off - so keep plugging away - you could try asking at frugals also.

Easiest thing to do is hit the round AA (either that or Air) button just below the HUD in 2D cockpit. I try and use the pit for everything - so much easier to remember things.

Some vids on the bbc site from todays 65th Aniversary flypast of a Lancaster to represent the Dambusters. A tribute to 617 squadron who lost nearly half the squadron lost in one night - also a tribute to the 5000 or so German civilians that also lost their lives. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7404554.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7404515.stm

The shadow on the F-106 used to kill my rates - also as said above check out the sizes of some of the skins you are using. Default stock jets use 512x512 - but most add ons tend to use 1024x1024 (about 3MB )or 2048x2048 (about 12MB) files. Try the basic stuff also - like defragging your hard drive - and clearing any files you dont need to keep- or even archiving these off to DVD so they dont take up space. If the fan on the graphics card gets really dusty thats also been know to cause slow down.

SFP1 patch info?
MigBuster replied to pcpilot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
No - it will be that time consuming though :moil: -
Just ran it on ACE level and you do start with threats on the RWR it seems You do start with everything armed and an infinate supply of AIM-120Bs and AIM-9Ls and fuel - even on full ace level. As for timing it for 3 minutes - well er play it on ACE level. Otherwise the only options are in game it seems - only the developers can probably change AF to what you need it to do. As for whats wrong with your game - ive no idea - you could always just reinstall it and patch it up to 1.0.13 again

think he said 2 weeks - not sure though :) -
Depends what your set up is in WOI - guys are reporting slow FR with the geforce 8800 in even more powerful PCs with graphics on higher settings. I run a GeForce 7600GT (PCI-Express) 256MB which does me okay - but I do scale some of the graphics settings down even in WOE.

F-4E Cockpit, HUD & Avionics Upgrade Latest
MigBuster replied to Piecemeal's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Very Nice! rar format should be compressed more so should be smaller - thus upload easier. As for your ISP issue depends on whats happening really - could be loads of things ( including your firewall blocking things). My wireless connection used to drop off for some reason when uploading things - only way I could upload was to disable the wireless and plug an Ethernet cable directly into the router (after fetching it ) :umnik2: -
