Some vids on the bbc site from todays 65th Aniversary flypast of a Lancaster to represent the Dambusters. A tribute to 617 squadron who lost nearly half the squadron lost in one night - also a tribute to the 5000 or so German civilians that also lost their lives. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7404554.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7404515.stm

The shadow on the F-106 used to kill my rates - also as said above check out the sizes of some of the skins you are using. Default stock jets use 512x512 - but most add ons tend to use 1024x1024 (about 3MB )or 2048x2048 (about 12MB) files. Try the basic stuff also - like defragging your hard drive - and clearing any files you dont need to keep- or even archiving these off to DVD so they dont take up space. If the fan on the graphics card gets really dusty thats also been know to cause slow down.

SFP1 patch info?
MigBuster replied to pcpilot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
No - it will be that time consuming though :moil: -
Just ran it on ACE level and you do start with threats on the RWR it seems You do start with everything armed and an infinate supply of AIM-120Bs and AIM-9Ls and fuel - even on full ace level. As for timing it for 3 minutes - well er play it on ACE level. Otherwise the only options are in game it seems - only the developers can probably change AF to what you need it to do. As for whats wrong with your game - ive no idea - you could always just reinstall it and patch it up to 1.0.13 again

think he said 2 weeks - not sure though :) -
Depends what your set up is in WOI - guys are reporting slow FR with the geforce 8800 in even more powerful PCs with graphics on higher settings. I run a GeForce 7600GT (PCI-Express) 256MB which does me okay - but I do scale some of the graphics settings down even in WOE.

F-4E Cockpit, HUD & Avionics Upgrade Latest
MigBuster replied to Piecemeal's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Very Nice! rar format should be compressed more so should be smaller - thus upload easier. As for your ISP issue depends on whats happening really - could be loads of things ( including your firewall blocking things). My wireless connection used to drop off for some reason when uploading things - only way I could upload was to disable the wireless and plug an Ethernet cable directly into the router (after fetching it ) :umnik2: -

Nah sorry - just a flying bus to go on holiday for me The only civvy jet that held any interest whatso ever was Concorde (RIP) - that looked and went like a certain prototype bomber except held rich people instead of bombs.

Well the only thing I know about Statistics is to clarify where exactly they got that figure from! - so that summary of statistical anlysis sums it up for me As for being reliant on runways its a shame the USAF didnt go for some F-35Bs (I know theres is no internal gun :tomato2: )- which you would hope could be deployed like the Harrier was. It doesnt look likely that the SU-30 could compete with the 5th Generation Jets on a level playing field judging by how the simulated SUs and Migs (ie F-16s and F-15s) seem to have done in the Red Flag exercises (but then again I dont know the actual situations/limitations imposed there either)

Angle of Attack
MigBuster replied to Basher11's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The F-15C flight model may just need tweaking then - by an expert :close_tema: will assume the the F-15C was not losing altitude despite is nose being pointed down? -
Not sure when that quote was made tbh F-15 Vs F-35 from 40 miles out - the result will be different - because the RCS of the F-15 is probably a lot bigger then the F-104s - so potentially the F-15 would be shot down even quicker than the F-104 Now if Chuck Norris was flying the F-15 all bets are off!

Angle of Attack

Is this for all AI aircraft or for a particular type of jet? What speed are they going normally and is their altitude changing also? -
Angle of Attack
MigBuster replied to Basher11's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
When firing an A-A missile your main concern in this game is not firing it when you are pulling too many Gs - particularly for the early AIM-9s In regards to AOA (if you are not banking) - I guess the bigger the angle the slower you are going - although being slow should just mean the missile will get less energy from launch - it should still fly as normal though. Not exactly an expert myself but the Angle Of Attack can only be defined when you are actually flying the plane - its kinda the difference between the direction the nose is pointing and the direction the jet is actually going (in degrees) an example is - when you are landing you pull your nose up but you are still decending - so your AoA is higher Will add that another situation (correct me if wrong here!!) where you will have a high AOA is turning very quickly - ie a thrust vectoring jet should be able to pull its nose up much further than the direction the jet is actually flying - and Im sure some missiles may be able to do this to. -
Interesting - Well the training and tactics is very important - but thats to allow for the fact that the enemy may be using technology as advanced as themselves. I will assume CY made that quote before AESA radars and missiles with alledged >95% PK. I dont think Chuck Yeager would be making that quote if he was flying an F-104A with AIM-9Bs against an F-35A with AMRAAMs 40 miles out - yes its still up to the F-35 pilot to not to make any rediculous mistakes - but its pretty likely the machine would be the deciding factor here.

not exactly the most realistic scenario Ive ever seen - I mean how could you fit 2 cows into the F-22s cockpit?

Saw an article recently about the B-1 being praised for its role over the Middle East and its ability to loiter over the area for ages with a massive conventional bomb load made it invaluable (if only I could find it again!)
