F-104G GN Mod CTD
MigBuster replied to Spillone104's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
What games that on? Is that the Third Wire F-104G or one you downloaded ? The model or skin for the tanks it is trying to use could be missing at a guess -
Cannot patch digital downloaded version of Falcon Allied Force
MigBuster replied to The Crunge's topic in Falcon 4 Series
Digital version??? not familiar with that try downloading the latest patch from Lead Pursuits web site and run it from your desktop Version 1.0.13 - make sure its the full version (~60MB) -
FF5 (RedViper) Is an add on for Falcon 4.0 but will probably work with Allied Force - not sure how well though FF4 is not payware so wouldnt expect FF5 to be either - but then its not exactly legal - as in the group behind it doesnt have the license to change or develop the code.

MigBuster replied to swambast's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Any with a long enough runway ive found and close to North vietnam so you have less airmiles to fly Are you looking for bases the F-4 was actually stationed at? :scout: -

Is WoE easier then LOMAC?
MigBuster replied to Alexrey's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The only way I know to enable some BVR is by increasing the detect distance for each jet (should be some old threads on this). I havnt tried it myself so not sure if they will be firing AA-2s from 30 miles away . -
Oh dear - afaik the only race that call us Roast beefs are the French - the language above portrays a half common / half upperclass mix that ive never heard myself - its probably the way we are stereotyped in a another country.

Possible glitches in SFP1
MigBuster replied to Basher11's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yeah was always a problem - flying at 1000ft to save your wingman - or 100ft to save yourself Absolutely no idea about that - havnt tested it myself but are the AI in WOI better at terrain masking? -

mig 29G
MigBuster replied to planes's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Oops - yep too much assumed info - assumed they must have got the Migs in 84/85 - but looks as though it may have been around 1988. Also didnt see there was a newer 3D model now so looked at the old one that has a 1984 start date -

Cockpits and cockpit builders are rare - but there are a few duel pits out there. A-6 (Stock/Razbam) F-111 (free) A-26 (Yap) Helicopters (Yap) C-47 (YAP) HC-130 (YAP) The effort required for a free and accurate TU-22 / TU-16 pit would probably have to come from someone with a big interest in those Soviet jets. -

mig 29G
MigBuster replied to planes's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Depends what nation its set for - look in its Mig29G_data.ini file. If its East Germany then I assume it will use Warsaw Pact / Soviet weps and be an enemy jet though you can change its nation, or whether the nation is friendly or an enemy if you like - via nations.ini You would then need to change its weapons pylons in its data.ini file to accept nato weps -
If its a matter of survival I suspect the superiors would prefer the expensive jet and the very expensive pilot to come back in 1 piece - than worry about a few racks and bombs. Have read accounts of F-15s dropping their tanks in the 1991 gulf war before they engaged some Iraqi jets BVR with AIM-7 Sparrows.

I find very hard to dogfight in Normal mode of WOE series!
MigBuster replied to skyline's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yeah the F-15A in 1979 with AIM-9Ls and AIM-7Ms is a great way to get your confidence up in the default game. Just use your radar in TWS mode and use your sparrows - always make sure you ID the target as enemy or freindly. In the 70's you may have had an AWACs to help you out (before awacs visual ID only)- which isnt modelled in this game - however once you lock a target with the radar use ctrl+R (i think) to target the locked jet - this will tell you if its an enemy or not. If they fire a missile you can dump both chaff and flares (the f-15 carries loads) and thats good enough to spoof the stock soviet missiles. If your RWR is buzzing the inbound could be radar (chaff)- if there is nothing buzzing then its gonna be an IR missile (so flares) If you hear "he's firing a missile" take evasive action regardless (you will learn over time that you can ignore this at your peril) Also once in close you cant miss with the AIM-9Ls Of course how you fly will depend on the jet and era you are in - i.e. in 1962 you will be guns only and always merging so you wont have to worry about their missiles - however taking on Mig-17s in a Hawker Hunter can be pretty difficult. -
Its not where you are looking in that screenshot When you click on the "Fly" button to start a campaign mission you should get 3 pictures: Ramp - Click on this picture if you have more than 25 mins before your take off slot - Most of the time is needed to allign the INS Taxi - Click on this picture if you have more than 2 mins to takeoff - you start on the taxiway with everything on Runway - Under 2 mins you have to use this option - you start on the runway with everything on hope this helps

Is WoE easier then LOMAC?
MigBuster replied to Alexrey's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yeah WOEs a lot easier - out of the box it is not as hard core /realistic - so is designed to be fun . The AI are not as good and you are also dealing with 1960/70s soviet missiles - which can be spoofed and out manouvered (unlike modern ones) Of course this can all be changed through mods when you have played it for a while and it becomes too easy. -
Start with the training missions and stick your jet to be invulnerable. Work through each training mission exactly as described in the manual You will find the exact instructions for the RAMP start are in the manual also - including every single button you need to press After you have learnt some of the basics then there is lots of useful info at http://forums.frugalsworld.com/vbb/ If you want to run the sim at realistic level in the future theres a lot to learn good luck

Am I the only one that finds LOMAC impossible?
MigBuster replied to Alexrey's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
4 Days!!! think anyone would find it impossible after that amount of time. You just need to practise and gain the knowledge required to know where you are going wrong and avoid getting into bad situations I dont have LOMAC but its supposed to be a pretty serious sim based on real life - in which case if a modern missile is fired at you - you will be hit! Modern missiles have about 95% hit rate, are impervious to flares/chaff, and can easily out turn you. There are ways to defeat them - though it will require finding tactics in old threads and then practising until you can do it.
