Hopefully 1960/70s avionics, weapons and tactics - which would make it different (i think) but maybe again not popular. Trouble with Study sims is the time to learn and actually play the darn things - never had the patience or time to play them properly when I was younger myself - and we are talkin Falcon 1 which wasnt much different to SF in many ways detail wise (press E to switch the engine on/off) - so the main market would surely be 22+ ? I havnt played Lockon myself yet - but was assuming its mainly Modern warfare related? 5000 would be some target - though 500 paying $500 (£250) as a development investment - and a possible share of profits - (if there were any ) I would probably put that up - though would like to know who these trustworthy people are C5 keeps harking on about. -

For any Battle Of Britain fans it may be worth getting a Series called "Piece Of Cake" (also based on a book )which i managed to get on DVD. Covers the battle of France leading up to the turning point of the BoB. There are tons of flying sequences and Spitfire shots in it and its a great drama - if not fully exact to life in the RAF at that time (apparently). -

Anyone seen "By Dawns Early Light" - bit of a TV movie but has some stars in it and considering the budget they were on is amazing! Its based on a book about a terrorist cell firing an ICBM at Russia - and WW3 breaking out - but theres a great sub plot with a B-52 crew! -

Its not bad if you can get past the super intelligent homing SAMs that the Chav in a tracksuit got hold of, the coloured Marine who just overacts soooo much! (U know the one), and the final sequence where the bad guys have either A: just come off the "A-Team" set - B: forgot to load any live ammo -

A1E Skyraider Skins
MigBuster replied to Syrinx's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
From what I can find in text the FAA only had the AD-4W (AEW MK1) from 1951 to 1960 - that was replaced by the even uglier Fairey Gannet (AEW MK3). The FAA had too many different planes to chose from in the 50's - and I suppose the Sea Fury and Seafire carried out similar roles to the A1 during the Korean War. Looks like France got some AD-4N (AD-4NAs) and used them in the Algerian War (1955-1962) -

I can relate to that in a way - The fact that I live in a different country and wasnt even born makes it even more weird - but I suppose many Americans may see the Falklands or the Battle of Britain in a similar way. It was an old sim called Flight of the Intruder that got me - mainly because the manual itself was full of stories and reasons to why it went like it did - either way it got me hooked on the subject - its amazing that something with such hopeless graphics could capture an imagination like that - and it helped that the F-4 was still in RAF service at the time to a degree. I dont think that having an interest is glorifying anything tbh - everyone knows the score - but you just gotta respect the Jets and the bravery/skill of the pilots - and yes despite the horrors of war you still want to place yourself in their position and see if you have got what it takes! (for some reason) -

I would support such a thing - problem is where do you take it and how far do you go. The engine is already there if its use can be secured and its pretty bullet proof at the mo - even in its current form a lot can be altered/added without affecting the stability. A study sim (as proposed) for 1 or 2 aircraft only - would mean that a lot of people may have to support development of a plane they dont care about - and may lead to conflict later on IMO. I personally would support any chosen plane - though I think it has to be chosen with care. There is a reason why Falcon 4.0 only really looks at 1 aircraft in detail. Do you go for a populist approach and make a futuristic trendy F-22 sim to appeal to the masses (which would never be that realistic!)- or do you stick to the games Vietnam era roots? Then there is the time line and location of the Sim. Say the F-4 was modelled closely - what versions would be looked at and what avionics/weapons would they be able to use. The great thing about the F-4 is that Carrier ops can be simulated too - however would we still wanting to be coming into land on the empty default carrier with no deck activity? Also the Campaign in this game would need some severe revamping - quite a task - unless the game was restricted to hundreds of single missions disguised as a running campaign (where deck activity can be moddelled already to some degree) Would you want A-A refuelling and can they incorporate a tanker with an animated boom? Am kind of rambling on about some YAP / Flight of the Intruder hybrid now - but I guess thats 1 possibilty - with the F-4 and A-6 needing revamped cockpits, and the ability to change Mil settings for Dive bombing (free fall/retarded), Dive Toss, and DIANE. Bottom line is we already have a series where anyone can fly any plane and have loads of fun - and a modern study sim probably wont surpass Falcon (or its predessesor). I would suggest if its to be detailed then stick to the 1960-1980 time frame which hasnt been covered to any degree (probably a reason 4 this ). If you go for realistic it will really limit the planes featured - and if we went for say an F-14 you would need a bomber in there to supplement it (say an F-4). I need to lay down :close_tema: -
A dogfight question?
MigBuster replied to trixi's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Hello A specific 1 Vs 1 mission - with only 2 planes in the sky? One way is to alter one of the existing custom missions: To manually edit Single missions go to the "Missions" folder i.e "C:\StrikeFighters\Missions" and open up one of the .msn (ie F-4_Vs_Mig17_1v1.msn) files in Notepad. You can then make a COPY of this and alter the planes taking part. Save the file as a .msn when you have finished When you start the game select the "Load Mission" tab when in the "Single Mission" section This assumes there is a mission like this in SFP1 by default (cant remember as I only have WOV/WOE installed now) hope this is readable your end! Surely its more fun dogfighting lots of different Planes at the same time though :dirol: ps Assume Kreelins editor does this also? -
That article is dated 12 Dec 2005 There is a bit about it on here near the bottom: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_Singapore_Air_Force Any ideas why they were chosen over the Rafale then?

You dont say How many have they got left after sending 60 after the bears - and another 779 to look out for Russian patrols? well according to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan_Air_Force () about 2x 747s - see I was almost right !! -
Soviet incursion into Japanese airspace
MigBuster replied to MigBuster's topic in Military and General Aviation
LOL - have they got that many jets - they may have to retrofit some Cessnas and 747s to make up the numbers Perhaps they havn't seen a TU-95 before - or they are just massive fans -
They perhaps were never finished - though someone else who has this campaign would have to verify this. Check the downloads to see if there are any updates to the campaign or any separate downloads for the maps elsewhere.
