  1. Whats Your Favorite Airplane Movie

Grrr - every bloody film is called Gay these days - some bloke takes his top off and thats it - Gay! - or in fact any film with a young bloke - has got a "Gay" following. I am really gonna have to punch the next person that calls a film gay for no reason Anyway - I cant really have a fave film now - might typecast myself
  2. From what I can find in text the FAA only had the AD-4W (AEW MK1) from 1951 to 1960 - that was replaced by the even uglier Fairey Gannet (AEW MK3). The FAA had too many different planes to chose from in the 50's - and I suppose the Sea Fury and Seafire carried out similar roles to the A1 during the Korean War. Looks like France got some AD-4N (AD-4NAs) and used them in the Algerian War (1955-1962)
  3. That SA-19s looking a bit lethal! even took at shot at you sir
  4. I can relate to that in a way - The fact that I live in a different country and wasnt even born makes it even more weird - but I suppose many Americans may see the Falklands or the Battle of Britain in a similar way. It was an old sim called Flight of the Intruder that got me - mainly because the manual itself was full of stories and reasons to why it went like it did - either way it got me hooked on the subject - its amazing that something with such hopeless graphics could capture an imagination like that - and it helped that the F-4 was still in RAF service at the time to a degree. I dont think that having an interest is glorifying anything tbh - everyone knows the score - but you just gotta respect the Jets and the bravery/skill of the pilots - and yes despite the horrors of war you still want to place yourself in their position and see if you have got what it takes! (for some reason)
  5. okay chill out the post was about some stupid typo on the BBC web page - hence the stupidity of the following posts - I apologise if anyone has taken this out of context and misread it as anything else!
  6. I would support such a thing - problem is where do you take it and how far do you go. The engine is already there if its use can be secured and its pretty bullet proof at the mo - even in its current form a lot can be altered/added without affecting the stability. A study sim (as proposed) for 1 or 2 aircraft only - would mean that a lot of people may have to support development of a plane they dont care about - and may lead to conflict later on IMO. I personally would support any chosen plane - though I think it has to be chosen with care. There is a reason why Falcon 4.0 only really looks at 1 aircraft in detail. Do you go for a populist approach and make a futuristic trendy F-22 sim to appeal to the masses (which would never be that realistic!)- or do you stick to the games Vietnam era roots? Then there is the time line and location of the Sim. Say the F-4 was modelled closely - what versions would be looked at and what avionics/weapons would they be able to use. The great thing about the F-4 is that Carrier ops can be simulated too - however would we still wanting to be coming into land on the empty default carrier with no deck activity? Also the Campaign in this game would need some severe revamping - quite a task - unless the game was restricted to hundreds of single missions disguised as a running campaign (where deck activity can be moddelled already to some degree) Would you want A-A refuelling and can they incorporate a tanker with an animated boom? Am kind of rambling on about some YAP / Flight of the Intruder hybrid now - but I guess thats 1 possibilty - with the F-4 and A-6 needing revamped cockpits, and the ability to change Mil settings for Dive bombing (free fall/retarded), Dive Toss, and DIANE. Bottom line is we already have a series where anyone can fly any plane and have loads of fun - and a modern study sim probably wont surpass Falcon (or its predessesor). I would suggest if its to be detailed then stick to the 1960-1980 time frame which hasnt been covered to any degree (probably a reason 4 this ). If you go for realistic it will really limit the planes featured - and if we went for say an F-14 you would need a bomber in there to supplement it (say an F-4). I need to lay down :close_tema:
  7. Hello A specific 1 Vs 1 mission - with only 2 planes in the sky? One way is to alter one of the existing custom missions: To manually edit Single missions go to the "Missions" folder i.e "C:\StrikeFighters\Missions" and open up one of the .msn (ie F-4_Vs_Mig17_1v1.msn) files in Notepad. You can then make a COPY of this and alter the planes taking part. Save the file as a .msn when you have finished When you start the game select the "Load Mission" tab when in the "Single Mission" section This assumes there is a mission like this in SFP1 by default (cant remember as I only have WOV/WOE installed now) hope this is readable your end! Surely its more fun dogfighting lots of different Planes at the same time though :dirol: ps Assume Kreelins editor does this also?
  8. Another F-15 crash...

That article is dated 12 Dec 2005 There is a bit about it on here near the bottom: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_Singapore_Air_Force Any ideas why they were chosen over the Rafale then?
  9. You dont say How many have they got left after sending 60 after the bears - and another 779 to look out for Russian patrols? well according to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan_Air_Force () about 2x 747s - see I was almost right !!
  10. LOL - have they got that many jets - they may have to retrofit some Cessnas and 747s to make up the numbers Perhaps they havn't seen a TU-95 before - or they are just massive fans
  11. They perhaps were never finished - though someone else who has this campaign would have to verify this. Check the downloads to see if there are any updates to the campaign or any separate downloads for the maps elsewhere.
  12. Depends how much time you have to invest in learning Photoshop or GIMP in regards to skins - you can come up with some useable stuff after a while - although to get anywhere near the standard of some of the skins produced on here takes some doing (and probably some art lessons) I must admit! :moil: Still actually using them can be more fun
  13. I downloaded some replacement WOV maps the other day and they went in the Terrain folder - so see if you have any files like this in there: <terrain>_map1.bmp <terrain>_map2.bmp <terrain>_map3.bmp and try opening them
  14. Another F-15 crash...

hmm - Theres no where to really stick a radar without frying the pilot at the mo so it would be stuck with heaters. Then theres the type of mission it could perform - I would rule out interception because Al terrorist in his 747 can probably will get to his target a few hours earlier still I guess the Cessna pilot could take some pics and sell them to the press
  15. erm - I should say that for all F-22 Vs EF-2000 speculation and guesswork please form an orderly queue at www.f-16.net
  16. Operation Misguided Bird

Yeah reads ok - a more trendy version of Dale Brown! Still most movies and books are all fantasy - we all know the first thing an SU-37 would see of an F-22 would be the radar emission from an AMRAAM in its final homing phase The bit about the anti-stealth radar is good - although reminds me in some ways of the old Batman series with his gas that turned metal really heavy - so the baddies couldnt hold their guns
  17. CTD CTD CTD

Yep its the aspect ratio - im stuck with 1280x1024 hence the black outline - it doesnt bother me (now)
  18. There some info and a plane list here btw: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wings_Over_Europe
  19. Pretty and into planes - now theres a rare and beautiful thing ! try not to scare her away guys
  20. WOE has replaced SFG for me - it has by default newer missiles and avionics - more planes including load of Russian planes including some of he older stuff from SFG. Over WOV you get to do intercept missions - and I think the default campaigns are great - the skies saturated with Migs The terrible terrain is the minus point - and must be replaced its that bad
  21. Another F-15 crash...

Glad the pilot got out - at least the ejection seats still work!
  22. Play of master

So the FAB are trying to get some Russian Jets too then? am sure they will be just fab

This is what Lead Pursuit used to recommend: If anyone is having issues uninstalling Allied Force, please try the following: Go to this page http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;290301 Halfway down is the download link to grab the Installer Cleanup Utility package. Once you have downloaded the file, double click it and select "Run". This will install the package. Go to C:\Program Files\Windows Installer Clean Up and double click "msicuu.exe" In the list of programs that appear in the new window, choose (All Users) Falcon 4.0: Allied Force .... and at the bottom hit "remove". This should allow you to reinstall AF correctly. As for screen resolution setting issues - there are probably quite a few old threads on the subject at Frugals if you cant find anything here.
  24. widescreen support

Dont have those versions myself - but its worth searching the F4 forum at Frugals because it must have been discussed before.
  25. Its got a padlock as the home page - how longs that been there? Could be a warning sign to stay away :yu:
