  1. Well ive learnt something today many thanks for that info Fubar - that wasnt obvious to me in any way.
  2. There is - In the aircrafts ini file (e.g. F-104G.ini) you will find this section: [shadow] CastShadow=TRUE <------------------ ShadowLOD=F-104G_shadow.shd ShadowType=1 ShadowCastDist=10000 MaxVisibleDistance=400 Change to: CastShadow=FALSE and save. You can do this for each ground object in the groundobject folder also if you need. try reducing the games graphics settings a bit also if things are still not great
  3. Kind of guessed that drag was the issue - but cant do much about that without knowing how the FM is put together. (and no the Flaps were not left down!!) I dont know where that thrust figure comes from on that shot - (almost looks like its been divided by 10) however the data.ini that specifies the FM has a Wet value of 69362.2 (kn) which is about 15600lbs - which is the given thrust value for the J79-GE-11A.
  4. Thats good to know - cheers Dave
  5. Of course if what you are sying is tru Derk then I have got a different flippin model - I pulled this model direct from the SP4 WOE Object.cat file (I uninstalled SF ages ago) so Id better check. :close_tema:
  6. No you are confusing IAS with TAS in your last sentence there: Here is the screenshot - this was the third attempt to get something out of it after testing the F-104A /C /A-19 versions which were more in line from pilot accounts.
  7. ahh great - hes a good lad!
  8. Thats what I was a thinking - now all those poor people like me having to play with this lame model of F-104 since 2002 - no wonder its taken me so long to care about it :tomato2: I will see what ajunairs G models like and perhaps make the stock one a bit more powerful from that. cheers
  9. No dont use the Multiplayer function - that only for playing on a local network (ie if you had a big network in your house with lots of computers and all your friends came round) You need to go to the hyperlobby website and download and install the software onto your PC http://hyperfighter.sk/ If they are using another method then someone will tell you im sure For Hamatchi you probably need to do a similar thing
  10. YAP

That would be fairly easy to do if thats your thing - but in regards to the YAP add-on you are kind of buying it because they are real stories you are re-enacting - thats what you are paying for on top of the extra objects! My advice is buy WOV - get used to the game - then modify it - its pretty easy to whack in a F-4M into either a Campaign / single mission or even create your own missions.
  11. Not sure myself - does it come with a readme?
  12. Well judging by the test fire videos Ive seen an AIM-9X cant be decoyed by flares so thats pretty much spot on. Thats to say that flares being developed may have more success - but im not hopeful
  13. Massive Penetrator in development

ha ha - the title is too suggestive!
  14. I think so yes its on thread http://www.simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?...e=1&fpart=3 Probably a case of just changing the engine thrust and name in the data ini file - so you could make a copy of the entire planes folder and rename the folder to F-104A-19 for example and the ini file to F-104A-19.ini then use the modified F-104A_data.ini file in there - if you see what i mean?
  15. Newbie

Its possible to create custom single missions where you have to fly in formation with the AI as a #2 or 4 for example.
  16. How far have you got? Did you manage to extract the relevant campaign data ini file from MissionData.cat using the extraction tool?
  17. I love flying game generated single missions with different planes - also play the YAP missions obviously. Havnt played a full campaign for a while - always get complacent in these and forget to put wing leveller on when i time accelerate :( Gotta say that Hunter A-A missions in the early 60's are a nightmare! wot no flippin afterburner!!
  18. Using WOE as an example only: You will find the campaigns in the Campaign folder eg: C:\.....\Wings Over Europe\Campaigns Pick a campaign eg woeCamp1 and open the folder. In there you will find a file called woeCamp.ini. You also need woeCamp1_Data.ini which you need to extract using the extract tool probably from a cat file in the Flight folder. The SFP1E extract tool can be downloaded from this site. An easy way to get a plane into the game is to modify a squadron in the data.ini file after you have extracted it. If you want to fly it you need a player flyable squadron (one with a weapon loadout specified) change the type, default texture, weapons and whatever else needs changing then save it: //----- Player Unit [AirUnit003] AircraftType=A-1H Squadron=43TFS ForceID=1 Nation=USAF DefaultTexture=SEA1 BaseArea=Spangdahlem Airbase BaseMoveChance=0 RandomChance=100 To chose the squadron you need to alter the woecamp.ini file like this for example: [uSAFUnit003] UnitName=(A-1H) 43th TFS 'Bunyaps' ForceID=1 UnitID=1 StartDate=1962 DescFile=woe1Start.txt StartText=woe1Start1.txt hope you understand this - you may have to experiment a bit also!
  19. Theres no set training sylabus like Falcon - use single missions to train on - you can customise how hard the game is - where you start etc. Then up the level when you think youve learnt something - searching old threads on here or simhq will also give you valuable info on how to dogfight or avoid SAM's
  20. Where to start - now thats a good question! Install the game once patch it up then leave that install alone (or use for online playing) . Copy the entire game folder and rename to SFModded or something and mod the heck out of that - run the new install from the exe file in the folder you have now created. If you decide to install an entire campaign you really need a fresh install - so again just copy the game folder of you initial install (that you should have left unmodded) You could probably add polaks sky mod on here and then update the terrains from www.sfmods.com - also celinskys cloud mod on here is something to consider. There is a training terrain to practise dropping bombs - yes thats right manual dive bombing is required and must be practised. see here: http://www.simhq.com/_air/air_055a.html and here: http://www.simhq.com/_air/air_061a.html Add one mod at a time if you must - and test after each one - if you dont then you may never trace the CTD its caused Be careful - some of the README's in the mods assume you know other things in advance After doing a lot of modding backup the install to DVD so you dont have to do it again There is a knowledge base on here that will help you also The control list will be in default.ini here (C:\........\Wings Over Vietnam\Controls) - There was a keyboard layout - maybe someone has a link to that still - pretty basic though. When it comes to weapons you will eventually need the weapons editor from this site. Also you may be asked to open an ini file you cant find - for that you will need the SFP1 file extractor program on here. also see here: http://www.column5.us/newb.htm
  21. Not personally though anythings possible - Operating Systems can be so fragile. There should be no harm in uninstalling then reinstalling the drives drivers based on what you have told me (restart the PC in between this procedure). If you have your Windows XP disk then you should be able to run "sfc /scannow" from the command line (or just type it into the run box) - this checks the XP system files. Then run checkdisk, and defrag your Hdrive I will also say to check the manufacturers knowledge base or website in case there is a simple fix for this! If that doesnt work (and you are using XP/Vista) then you may want to see if you have a recent restore point to go back to. A final option is running a registry cleaner like CCleaner (be very careful with this though!)
  22. So when you removed it using Add/Remove programs did the uninstaller appear to run successfully? If you put the Strike Fighters disk into the drive can Windows see the files on that disk - As in: Open "My Computer" then right click on the CD drive and select "Explore". Does windows list any files? Check the bottom of the disk and make sure there are no smudge / finger marks on it also.
  23. Hmm not a good sign - Did you remove it using Add/Remove programs and have you removed the game folder completely from where you installed it to? Does your drive recognise any files on the CD - and are your other CD's working in the drive ok?
  24. In a ideal world no F-16 should have to carry those things!!! :( Nice work though!
  25. Well if it didnt happen after modding something: Is your hard disk full? have you defragged it lately?
