Crash to destop when click on fly
MigBuster replied to dsawan's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
If you mean regedit - then my advice to anyone is not go there unless you know exactly what needs to be changed - -Tristan above may be referring to deleting entries to thirdwire sims - you may end up having to rebuild the PC if you are not careful though. The point being that to get it working you may need to remove a few things before you can start from scratch again. Basically back up any key changes if you have to do this. This registry cleaner is good and has various other tools for seeing whats on your PC http://www.ccleaner.com/ again careful with what you remove You could also run "sfc /scannow" from the command line (may need the windows disk) - this just checks your protected windows files are ok. Also not a fan of system restore - but may be worth a shot if you have a point saved just before things went wrong -
Newb Questions about SFP1
MigBuster replied to Stretch32's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You should be able to use a lot of Mods with SFP1 - my advice is: Read the readmes for each mod; Test 1 mod at a time to make sure it works - ie dont try and do too much at onece - it will be a mess! Best to create a new install of the game for each Campaign - dont need to install it again - just copy the entire game folder to another location - rename it to WW1 for example - then use the sfp.exe file in that install to run it as separate. The readmes are usually poor documentation and assume you already know things so also see the knowledge base on this site; If you get stuck ask here or search old posts here and simHQ - most things have been covered. -
Crosshairs?
MigBuster replied to Kiwi's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Not sure what you mean here - With Mavericks do you get an Infra Red picture come up where the radar display is when you lock onto a target? With any A-G weapon apart from dumb bombs and ARM's you should be able to lock a target and then fire the weapon. -
Yep its happened - ive joined the sodding Slovenian AF! - theres a post on Frugles too - and 1.10 is probably the cause

MigBuster replied to FastCargo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion

Tactical Assault - truly awful if you know anything about jets. The Jets in this film can also Warp from plush greenland of europe to the desert and back in milliseconds http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0127917/ Tip of the Iceberg - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0127917/goofs Platoon and We Were Soldiers has F5's and F105's etc dropping bombs at stages.

MIGs Vs Thuds
MigBuster replied to Lt. James Cater's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
A WOE campaign does tend to saturate the skies with Migs - just like the real thing would have been - totally unlike Vietnam was though. Speed is really a life saver in WOV cos the default Soviet missiles are on par with the AIM-9B it seems so they have to get in close for a gun shot. I rarely try to turn the thud unless its clean - even then its a dog to turn - best to avoid the Migs if poss. I have also noticed that the WOE Migs are more likely to chase you all the way home if need be -
MIGs Vs Thuds
MigBuster replied to Lt. James Cater's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The one thing I will say about Migs in this game is - Just as you start to ignore them one will fly up behind you and get you without you even knowing about it - you will just flinch in surprise as you realise uve bin had! Also its pretty likely that a Mig-17 (usually the culprit) has been following you on a lot of your missions - u just havn't seen him yet. I tried to outrun 2 x Mig-21's (not sure of version) in a F-104C (2 Sidewinders) in WOV once and they stuck to me and caught me on full burner - and blew me out of the sky - If they persist they can be nasty. (I am using the uber AI mod btw). On many occasions (WOV/WOE) I have flown under a flight of Migs and they havn't noticed me - this makes sense if you are below radar. Many occasions in WOE where the Migs are always high they do tend to come down to me. The Mig-19 is a rare thing and seems to be a much more powerful Mig-17 so can out turn you easily. Luckily the AI in this game means you stand a good chance even in a turning fight. Stick the Mig-29 AI pilot from Falcon 4 in the Mig-19 in this game though and I cant imagine ever winning a turning fight! -
WOE carrier camp, vector to home base, wrong location?
MigBuster replied to tmdgm's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Not sure - I only use the waypoints or ground radar myself. -
Multiplayer for WOV
MigBuster replied to sharpwire's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Nah - You can include Mods but only if everyone online has the same changes as you. -
F-20 Tigershark
MigBuster replied to Major Lee's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I think the Block 15 was the first to be able to use sparrows - though the ADF was the first US version to actually carry them. They did also test the F-16A with Sparrows "From the get go" The F-20 probably could have done with a bubble canopy also and I would be surprised if it got anywhere near the F-16s agility - that was the point of the 16 having an unstable airframe after all. Other than that The F-20 weapons load was only listed as 3765kg to the 16's 5443kg plus the F-16 has a better listed ferry range. -
There arnt that many films that have made me really laugh like TV comedies do The Naked Gun series was good,so was Airplane and the Monty Python films when I was a kid. The Indiana Jones sequence when he comes up against the bloke with the fancy swordwork made my laugh at the time. More recently any scene from that Borat film - saw it at the cinema - was in pain after that!!

MiG-23 fix doesn´t work
MigBuster replied to Sgt.KAR98's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
In the main game folder for WOV you should have a file called options.ini you can open that up and find the single mission entry [singleMission] AircraftType=F-5C ............... ............. MissionYear=1968 StartYear=1964 EndYear=1973 <------- Change this to 2000 or whatever! -

The F-16A Cockpit with the newer Mirage Factory F-16's is complete with reflections -
MiG-23 fix doesn´t work
MigBuster replied to Sgt.KAR98's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Are you talkin about these ? http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=4565 If so you may need the weapons pack also WOV doesnt go past 1973 by default unless you have changed the relevant end year in the options.ini file. Also Make sure the Aircraft data section references the correct named files - for example here is the aircraft Data section from the MIG-23MS ini file. [AircraftData] AircraftFullName=MiG-23MS Flogger-E AircraftDataFile=MiG-23MS_data.ini CockpitDataFile=Cockpit_MiG.INI HangarScreen=MiG-23MS_HANGAR.bmp AvionicsDLL=Avionics60.dll AvionicsDataFilename=MiG-23MS_AVIONICS.INI LoadoutFile=MiG-23MS_loadout.ini LoadingScreen=Mig-23MS_loading.bmp LoadoutImage=MiG-23M_loadout.bmp -
MiG-23 fix doesn´t work
MigBuster replied to Sgt.KAR98's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Not sure which ini's you downloaded but they need to be for the correct model. Are they for the stock Mig 23 WOE or a 3rd Party one? For now remove them or revert back to the originals. -
OTC: Change in Available Ammo
MigBuster replied to TeTeT's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Sounds pretty standard to me happens in most campaigns at some point. I think it can be changed to limit your ordanance - am not sure how though. - there may be something in the knowledgebase under campaign editing. -
Erfurt Airbase
MigBuster replied to Delta6Actual's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Never seen that in my game - assume you can take out other fuel tanks okay? To fix it may be a case of finding the reference to that object in the relevant ini file - probably in the targets.ini somewhere. -
Bombers VS Fighters
MigBuster replied to Lt. James Cater's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
hmmm I have even shot down a Mig-17 while flying an A1 Skyraider - however just when you think they are pointless one will fly up behind you - and you wont know hes there until its too late. ps - I prefer Fighter-Bombers -
reflections
MigBuster replied to gumpy's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Didnt think there was one - If you are talkin about the F-16C cockpit I thought the reflections were part of the actual model and couldn't be added separately? -
WOV freezes-up
MigBuster replied to MrGun's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Its a very stable game and ive only had regular freezes after changing wrong files. Did the game freeze like this before you started changing things? -
Question about infantry
MigBuster replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Not to sure how it works - but Yankee Air Pirate has loads of CAS missions with a mixture of infantry so it can be done in WOV. Maybe worth searching old threads to see how it was done if no one knows here - unless the Knowledge base has something about it. -
Something I have wondered about - though I must admit I didnt even touch any computer games from 17 to about 24 - had better things to do i guess From 13 - 17 years I had most flight sims going like Falcon, Mig 29 etc because it was a new thing at the time - I did love fighter planes though. I never actually played any of them like I do now im older - treated them just like any other games really - never would have known East was 90 degrees - just flew around in a circle looking for planes to shoot down from what i remember!
