  1. Hmm yeah Battlefield Vietnam is game you want - like the above v limited/unrealistic jet flying to the point of there being no point :)
  2. I always run the exe to my desktop - then manually move the files in myself in case it tries to replace the weapondata.ini or something - then i uninstall or just delete the downloaded exe and files from my desktop. The auto installer usually only puts the files in the correct location (if you specify it) - it wont sort out other things. eg if the Mirage is specified as a nation not already in the game - it wont add the nation into Nations.ini - also it wont auto install any drop tanks weapons - these have to be done manually using the weapons editor. - its likely that the game may be looking for something that hasnt been done. Yeah also I periodically back up my installs to DVD - even if i need to start again from fresh - eg when a major service pack is released - I can just move mods back over from the old install. Its nightmare losing a modded install that s been building up over time - takes ages to do the thing in one go - plus you need to find all the mods again!
  3. New russian stealth fighter

Well im still waiting for tangible evidence of their finished stealth projects tbh. The first Wikipedia article also mentions the use of plasma stealth which seems to be just a unworkable theory still from what ive read.
  4. Only seen / used them in YAP - the AI seems to do an okay job in those missions though - cant say ive monitored their every move though.
  5. So I assume you downloaded something from here: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...amp;showcat=134 If there is no readme - then basically extract the files (you may need WinRar) to a single folder on your desktop. Find the main planes folder - called something like F-5E and copy and paste to: C:\......\Wings Over Europe\Objects\Aircraft so it sits along side the other planes in your game. The plane is now installed - if you have weapons/tanks to install then there is a nice article on page 2 of the knowledge base: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showforum=99 The weapons editor and latest file extractor can be downloaded from this site.
  6. Did you back up the dll's you replaced? Did you run the sfc scan? You will have to search the Microsoft Database - Direct X becomes part of the Operating system so I dont think you can remove it properly (though there are programs that claim to do this). Make sure you have the correct Direct X version from MS and run it from its installer - dont manually copy files over. Also look up on how manually replacing dll files can be backed out - if at all If still no joy then try this: Back up any Mods you want to keep to a different folder. Uninstall the games fully from "add/remove" programs only. Manually delete/move any game folders/files that the uninstaller leaves behind. At this point you could use CC cleaner to clear out any rogue thirdwire entries it picks up Install a fresh game from disk to a different location (dont patch or mod) and try it out. If still no joy then you can go on experimenting with what it may be - but you may have to consider reinstalling or repairing windows XP - which aint too bad a deal these days - providing you have all the drivers for your hardware (or know what your hardware is) - and back up everything you need to keep to external disks - and have the licence key/XP disk http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/s...xp/install.mspx http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/h...ips/doug92.mspx ps - this is a last resort and at your own risk entirly - there is plenty of help on the net if you need to go this route.
  7. F-35A

doh! - I think the F-4 and A-7 look good personally
  8. Roll Call

Gold leader standing by! 20,000 replies - good luck with that :beta1:
  9. If you mean regedit - then my advice to anyone is not go there unless you know exactly what needs to be changed - -Tristan above may be referring to deleting entries to thirdwire sims - you may end up having to rebuild the PC if you are not careful though. The point being that to get it working you may need to remove a few things before you can start from scratch again. Basically back up any key changes if you have to do this. This registry cleaner is good and has various other tools for seeing whats on your PC http://www.ccleaner.com/ again careful with what you remove You could also run "sfc /scannow" from the command line (may need the windows disk) - this just checks your protected windows files are ok. Also not a fan of system restore - but may be worth a shot if you have a point saved just before things went wrong
  10. You should be able to use a lot of Mods with SFP1 - my advice is: Read the readmes for each mod; Test 1 mod at a time to make sure it works - ie dont try and do too much at onece - it will be a mess! Best to create a new install of the game for each Campaign - dont need to install it again - just copy the entire game folder to another location - rename it to WW1 for example - then use the sfp.exe file in that install to run it as separate. The readmes are usually poor documentation and assume you already know things so also see the knowledge base on this site; If you get stuck ask here or search old posts here and simHQ - most things have been covered.
  11. Not sure what you mean here - With Mavericks do you get an Infra Red picture come up where the radar display is when you lock onto a target? With any A-G weapon apart from dumb bombs and ARM's you should be able to lock a target and then fire the weapon.
  12. Why Slovenia?

Yep its happened - ive joined the sodding Slovenian AF! - theres a post on Frugles too - and 1.10 is probably the cause
  13. Nice shots - thanks man You can play these games foreever - so much to do!
  14. For those who care..

congrats - lucky escape for the Hammers really! Being a Liverpool fan my main concern is not getting relegated from the top 4 clubs
  15. Jet Fighter Movies

Tactical Assault - truly awful if you know anything about jets. The Jets in this film can also Warp from plush greenland of europe to the desert and back in milliseconds http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0127917/ Tip of the Iceberg - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0127917/goofs Platoon and We Were Soldiers has F5's and F105's etc dropping bombs at stages.
  16. MIGs Vs Thuds

A WOE campaign does tend to saturate the skies with Migs - just like the real thing would have been - totally unlike Vietnam was though. Speed is really a life saver in WOV cos the default Soviet missiles are on par with the AIM-9B it seems so they have to get in close for a gun shot. I rarely try to turn the thud unless its clean - even then its a dog to turn - best to avoid the Migs if poss. I have also noticed that the WOE Migs are more likely to chase you all the way home if need be
  17. MIGs Vs Thuds

The one thing I will say about Migs in this game is - Just as you start to ignore them one will fly up behind you and get you without you even knowing about it - you will just flinch in surprise as you realise uve bin had! Also its pretty likely that a Mig-17 (usually the culprit) has been following you on a lot of your missions - u just havn't seen him yet. I tried to outrun 2 x Mig-21's (not sure of version) in a F-104C (2 Sidewinders) in WOV once and they stuck to me and caught me on full burner - and blew me out of the sky - If they persist they can be nasty. (I am using the uber AI mod btw). On many occasions (WOV/WOE) I have flown under a flight of Migs and they havn't noticed me - this makes sense if you are below radar. Many occasions in WOE where the Migs are always high they do tend to come down to me. The Mig-19 is a rare thing and seems to be a much more powerful Mig-17 so can out turn you easily. Luckily the AI in this game means you stand a good chance even in a turning fight. Stick the Mig-29 AI pilot from Falcon 4 in the Mig-19 in this game though and I cant imagine ever winning a turning fight!
  18. Not sure - I only use the waypoints or ground radar myself.
  19. Nah - You can include Mods but only if everyone online has the same changes as you.
  20. I think the Block 15 was the first to be able to use sparrows - though the ADF was the first US version to actually carry them. They did also test the F-16A with Sparrows "From the get go" The F-20 probably could have done with a bubble canopy also and I would be surprised if it got anywhere near the F-16s agility - that was the point of the 16 having an unstable airframe after all. Other than that The F-20 weapons load was only listed as 3765kg to the 16's 5443kg plus the F-16 has a better listed ferry range.
  21. Funniest film scene ever

There arnt that many films that have made me really laugh like TV comedies do The Naked Gun series was good,so was Airplane and the Monty Python films when I was a kid. The Indiana Jones sequence when he comes up against the bloke with the fancy swordwork made my laugh at the time. More recently any scene from that Borat film - saw it at the cinema - was in pain after that!!
  22. In the main game folder for WOV you should have a file called options.ini you can open that up and find the single mission entry [singleMission] AircraftType=F-5C ............... ............. MissionYear=1968 StartYear=1964 EndYear=1973 <------- Change this to 2000 or whatever!
  23. The F-16A Cockpit with the newer Mirage Factory F-16's is complete with reflections
  24. Are you talkin about these ? http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=4565 If so you may need the weapons pack also WOV doesnt go past 1973 by default unless you have changed the relevant end year in the options.ini file. Also Make sure the Aircraft data section references the correct named files - for example here is the aircraft Data section from the MIG-23MS ini file. [AircraftData] AircraftFullName=MiG-23MS Flogger-E AircraftDataFile=MiG-23MS_data.ini CockpitDataFile=Cockpit_MiG.INI HangarScreen=MiG-23MS_HANGAR.bmp AvionicsDLL=Avionics60.dll AvionicsDataFilename=MiG-23MS_AVIONICS.INI LoadoutFile=MiG-23MS_loadout.ini LoadingScreen=Mig-23MS_loading.bmp LoadoutImage=MiG-23M_loadout.bmp
