Also check your actual broadband speed - I still only have 0.5mbps upload so cloud is a no no for anything other than small files. Local storage is better for me - as I recently upgraded I have USB 3 ports (4-5Gbps) so thats my best choice. Regards to backing up - if you want to keep something you need 2 copies on 2 different devices - normally this would be a PC and a backup drive. If you only have it on one device its not really backed up. Even with a cloud as proved on this site the company can screw up the servers losing everything, or go out of business, or one day maybe you just cant afford their payments anymore. Consider putting in a larger 2nd hard disk if you can so you don't have to keep deleting things off the PC - but yes a local cloud setup could be another option if you have the money.

MigBuster replied to Santitm's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Did it work okay before you added the add on aircraft? -
Nice - and Brazil won the opening game - not really a surprise. I think Brazil or Spain as an early prediction

Project is back after a long hiatus. Here we test the Super Etendard in the game engine for its first virtual flight. Cockpit is not done yet, which explains the external view all the time. FM is generic too. So, still lots of work to do here. http://www.thunder-works.com/news.htm

Things not going so well...... On Jun. 10, Russia’s 5th generation stealth fighter plane Sukhoi T-50 (PAK FA – Perspektivny Aviatsionny Kompleks Frontovoy Aviatsii—Future Tactical Air System) which since February has been a subject of state test programme in Zhukovski, caught fire on landing. The landing was succesful and Sergey Bogdan, the Russian test pilot who flew the T-50 during the test flight, was unharmed. Sukhoi officials claim that the fire was local, and was quickly extinguished. The fighter is to be repaired. Two remaining examples of T-50 are undergoing ground tests and static tests. According to the official stance of the Sukhoi company, the incident will not have an impact on the test program, and the proceedings are to be continued in accordance with the planned schedule. http://theaviationist.com/2014/06/10/t-50-catches-fire/ Just imagine the frenzy if this happened to the F-35!!

How to make LGBs available for F16 BLK 30 Single Missons
MigBuster replied to glennhailstone's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You would need to buy the SF2 games - they are totally separate and don't need SF1 disks - however looking at your low specs you might be better off sticking with WOE for now IMO https://store.thirdwire.com/store.htm -
Mods folders in external had drive connected via USB 2.0 question
MigBuster replied to dtmdragon's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
No I am just listing the different interface speeds of each standard - how it actually performs will vary depending on setup. The CPU, Graphics card and RAM are the performance factors once in the 3D game - the actual disk you have it on will only really affect loading times. In your case - you probably have an old (near full) SATA 2 mech Hard Disk - so you might not notice as much difference running from USB 2.0 (the stick is also solid state!) -
GAU\8 Cannon Sounds
MigBuster replied to DEVIL11's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
You could try some old A-10s to see if there are any sound files in there. If you are talking about drop tanks - they are generally specific to aircraft types not squadrons. -
Mods folders in external had drive connected via USB 2.0 question
MigBuster replied to dtmdragon's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Probably no comparison - on an SSD you should be running its interface at SATA 3 ( 6 Gbps ) or SATA 2 ( 3Gbps) whereas, USB 2.0 is way under 480Mbps. USB 3.0 (4Gbps) or 3.1 should be good though. -
How to load out weapons for dummies

Targets will only appear if they are in front of you within the radars current range if you have the settings up. Forget what you are doing - Learn some basics before you do anything else and practise: http://bbs.thirdwire.com/phpBB3w/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2343#p14228 http://www.simhq.com/_air/air_061c.html http://www.thirdwire.com/man/sf2/Strike_Fighters_2.htm have fun.......... -
DCS is getting ridiculous
MigBuster replied to Stratos's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
Its probably nothing to worry about really June 2014 Update We would first like to apologize for the long delay in projects updates. Since the last update from Luthier, there have been some significant changes in how this project will be developed and managed. No longer will RRG be developing this project and Luthier has ceased his involvement in the project. Eagle Dynamics though will be continuing its development and honor all Kickstarter backer commitments. There is nothing more we can say about this change and it is not open for discussion. We will be restructuring the DCS WWII: Europe 1944 forums to reflect this. DCS WWII: Europe 1944 is still planned as a single-package option, or users can purchase individual components to integrate into DCS World. Myself and Groove plan to provide monthly updates. As a basic outline, here are our current development intentions: August 2014 – Fw 190 D-9 Dora October 2014 - BF-109K December 2014- Spitfire IX March 2015 - P-47D-28 May 2015 - Normandy Map with period AI units Other features like the Me.262A-1 and AI-only B-17G are also in development we but do not have a delivery data estimate at this time until these other features are further along. In the meantime, Groove and our moderator SiThSpAwN are working to make sure that all backers, based on their level of backing, receive their entitlements. We fully realize that you probably have many unanswered questions. We are in the process of answering those internally first, and once we do, we will update you. In this update, we can share some updated images of the Fw 190 D-9 and Bf-109K cockpits. In future updates, Yoyo and other members of the development team will provide greater details about the various features. Thanks, Matt -
How to load out weapons for dummies
MigBuster replied to glennhailstone's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
From what - the F-16C B30?? AIM-120 is a radar guided weapon - so yes you need to lock targets up on radar using the standard keys or the ones you have assigned Unless the aircraft has its own laser designator / pod at the time - then you only thing you can drop on is the primary target using E -

"Everything is subject to change" - dont you read Wags signature I thought this of all things - which is what 5 WWII aircaft, terrain and a few campaigns would pass through okay - That Spitfire F.9 is hanging by a very thin thread -
