  1. ok ok.. )) What do you mean? I did it long ago, but I think I could make simple objects bombs etc, for you if you need such. Animations are different matter of course.
  2. Me myself came to such idea, when my game collapsed... Yes I use dx9 modified SF2 NA Iceland map, and Win XP on a notebook of shared memory video card. ... as I wrote in another topic suddenly, ships and some ground objects lost all their textures. I thought, I messed up the ini files... I restored them - did not help. Then I thought, might be because of ForceDx9 - did not help. Finally I removed all addons from the addon dir, I thought there might be too much of them - did not help. Then, I started a different exe file (not the renamed SF2 NA XP) and created a new addon dir - that was what helped. In this particular case with the Su-17 cockpit, I did the same, I put the planes into a fresh, cloned EXE and addon dir, alone. so a case with too much textures can be excluded. What I think, that either the material is incompatible with a certain detail level and/or it is not compatible with my Dx9 system. To save memory, I did the same procedure with SF2: Falklands, I put it into a fresh cloned game starting with SF2 falklands.EXE. It works perfectly, although very slowly I have to admit. And it's a complex set of addons... therefore I think its not about memory this time. OFF/ what kind of planes you make? Do you make cockpits too?
  3. Thanks for the idea about memory... I tried it out. All terrains are the same in this case, and no other addons do this (among those I tried yet). But, it does have to do something with detail level, as I set it to the lowest possible setting, and those white areas turned black (or some dark material) I suppose thats correct, how it should look like? My opinion is that the material is somehow disappearing at a certain detail level setting. Most interesting because bigger and more complex models have no such problems. Thats all I could investigate though.... and thanks for the help!
  4. I checked everywhere... no files are missing. the mirror.bmp however is a white rectangle... I changed it to something completely different, but no sign of any change. So I have no idea. Maybe the game graphic options... or Dx9? But this addon was made in 2011, long before SF2 NA... edit... BUT there is a BMP that is not listed ... not used within the LOD "Su-17_side_bar.bmp"
  5. Aha I see now. So, someone else is doing it... would it be ready in the near future, weeks or months? Of course I won't waste my time if it's already in progress... But I just don't want to wait half a year or so. Maybe I could help with information or textures, images... something. Now I have time, who know maybe next year I won't have. And also have contact with people who handled the real plane.

  8. Thanks for the answer!!! Yes sure I'm aware of possible thievery, I understand that part. I don't intend to steal anything, I just wanted to see how it looks like. I don't want to get involved into modding much, my interest is only and exclusively the Yak-38 aircraft and the fact that in this simulator I can fly it. This is how I found SF series at all ))) And, as I have seen, everything else out there has been already done by someone else.... weapons, migs, bombs, tanks, flak... even Samurai's wonderful soviet ships.....except the Yak-38 cockpit, the only thing I need. (Actually two, an early and a late, but the difference is little) I thought it is in vain to disturb someone else to do it (as you said its a pain in the a** to build anyway) it would be still a lot faster and more fair if I do it myself... pershaps that person has already left this site months years ago of just logs in every other week ( I have some acquintances who serviced Yak-38 in real life and can name every warning light and switch on the board so I thought i give it a try.... Actually I'd be happy to have a correctly sized empty box pilot cabin to fill with details ))))) I worked with pre-max 3ds some 10 or more years before. here, some Sci-fi objects I made.
  9. Hi, I'd like to ask some questions about 3D-ing, if there's someone out there who's willing to answer... As I wrote in other topics, I'd like to learn about making stuff (cockpit more precisely) but I lack even the basic info. There, nobody answered so I ask it here again... if its not some secret stuff of course... To start I wanted to view some existing work how it looks like, in an editor. To know what to take into account, to see how it should look like... But I found and read on forum that it is impossible. First because stock lods are now encoded (or something like that) but I don't really understand why, since I also read the lods cannot be editted not even opened by anything... At some places someone mentioned, the old lods can be extracted from older version installs... but what for? So there IS some method to view them?? I just can't imagine how to configure my own object (cockpit or whatever) without seeing the aircraft itself in which I want to use it... how to create a cockpit for it to fit the cabin and have the correct size, view angles, instruments... pfff. too many unclear stuff((
  10. I have the same problem with the APU-60-1 rail for AA-8... if its a rack, it will not be shown with a single missile. if it is done with the fake pilot trick, it will be show permanently, for all payload. So I have no ideas.
  11. I noticed, that there are no FAB-100 post war... what kind of 100kg bomb they use now? I found FAB-100 M62 and FAB-100ZE (?) on the net, but no data, no photo...
  12. Thanks for the help... well actually I made a new "fake SP2 NA" exe and a new addon dir, and copied again all the addons. now it works again. I don't know what had happened, I tried to delete all addons from addon dir, copy a new ini file... nothing helped. I made a new addon dir with a new exe and .ini and that worked. Maybe the exe itself got damaged... or I really dont understand.. Hope it wont happen again(
  13. Thanks a whole lot, and to Cocas too. Its just the rail I need. Apparently the plane LOD misses the missile rail part of the mesh completely, so it does not use the node names at all( Best would be to use this rack inside the plane LOD... since its a stock one, its impossible though((( Meanwhile I also crashed my game somehow, it lost its textrures from ships an some ground units. I had to make a new set of "fake SP2 NA" exe, ini and addon dir. Maybe some inis got wrong... still dont know what happened. Now I'm making some plans for cockpit. the plane has only 4 stations, basically the same like the Mig-21

  15. I don't what might have happened, but all ship textures disappeared... they are all white. Except the cargo ship. Maybe something else, too I don't remember. The addon ships, like the Kresta have all textures. Somehow the has forgotten where the textures are? But those are stock ones, and why only the stock ships from NA?? I swear I did not do anything to them. It appears that only SP2 NA has this error, I started the vietnam exe, and the nimitz and the kiev both have textures. Now why NA can't see them?? This exludes the possibility that the file got damaged... but then what?? I changed level of detail... does not help. I have a crap slow notebook with crap 3D chip with share memory, on Win XP. that sucks, but it worked until now. I turned off forcedx9, did not help. It was working till now, anyway. I did change the year spread in options.ini, but nothing else on the game in global. I'm working on the Yak-38 and some other skins, but nothing I did with ships.
  16. Thanks...! Well, whatever I tried it only appears when there are more than 1 missiles loaded on it... positions were a bit tricky, but I could fix it. The other missile is always loaded on the pylon no matter what... I tried the fakepilot, it is working, with some work, but as i seen it is a permanent part of the model then. All payload will be placed on it. even it the game engine removes the pylon because there is no payload selected... I tried if it were a rocket pod with one shot, but that does not work with AA missiles((( What I want to achieve is to use this rail only with the AA-8... it should be working like a rack, even if loaded with 1 missile. But it does not(( I wonder how it works on the MiG-23 or MiG-27, as I have seen their loadout ini contains rack loaded with 1 missile...

  19. Of course I added... but the INI file supplied is APU-62R1.ini not APU-60-1 ini. the contents are different, the position coordinates are wrong. I added this to loadout ini, renamed the ini accordingly... does not work. the rack is configured to be a single launch rail, with the capacity of 1, i figured out that in this case the program does not use any rail... if I add 2 missiles on it with a capacity of 2, only then it appears, but (as I wrote) the positions are bad anyway. So ... is there anyway to use this - otherwise good - 3D object as single launch rail for AA-8 missiles?

  21. Hi folks, I'm new to both 3D and cockpit modding, but I'd like to learn it... Is there some help files tutorials, examples etc out there? I want to make such things noone is willing to make, I have to make myself. And I'm happy to make it myself instead of asking nagging others to do it

  24. I have fine tuned the engines, so it can take off only with realistic weight. When I'm ready I'll upload a beta for testing the flight capabilities. I tried a vertical take off with 2.2 tons payload, thats really impossible. As it has to be. An early Yak-38 with 1 tons payload can VTOL, and a Yak-38M with about 1200. The M can STOL with a bit more than 2 tons, but its almost a ditch. Better stay with "historical" payload ))) Also I could take of and land from Kiev very nicely, STOL takeoff from the No1 position (due to "catapult" limitation you can't do a VTOL start), and a VTOL landing also. Its very difficult to fly in hover, almost like a real one... huhhh.. Reducing fuel helps in this case, but the fuel tanks are already limited. With 2x 400L droptank and 2 AAMs it can make a nice CAP, but keep extra fuel for landing... its not easy, and lift engines also burn fuel. Edit, I forgot scrshots...
