It's a scale model of a functional warplane in the same sense as a 1/10 scale C-17 is a strategic transport.
-
40 RC Jet landings in 5 minutes.
-
It doesn't look CGI, it looks like an RC plane. The edits are to avoid revealing the scale.
-
It's clearly tiny - so probably legitimately RC. Probably had the controls in the helicopter to get it that high.

They said the F-35C couldnt do it

Pretty incredibly poor showing to have spent this much money and time to finally get it to meet one of its original design goals. -
Is not the Raptor too much to bomb ISIL?
Milktrout replied to Stratos's topic in Military and General Aviation
To the original topic - depending how you look at it for 98% of missions flown any manned modern airframe is overkill. Starting in the early 1960s aircraft had the range and payload to fly the same missions (but lacked the precision). Subsonic straight and level bomb trucking to kill poor people is a remarkably boring business. -

You need precision weapons, heavy lifting, and not to have the PR disaster of losing an aircraft. To do that you need to fly high, carry a decent loadout, and have precision capability. -

SF2 and Windows 8

I find that I need to wait at least a minute after startup for Strike Fighters to work. Otherwise it crashes. -
Not to mention the imminent US/British invasion when they realise that Scotland has Muslims and Oil.
-
This is to say nothing of the demographic issues that will start to bite.
-
I don't have skin in the game. If Scotland does choose independence then I hope it works well for them. But it's a very risky move. Even without Scotland the UK is the 6th largest economy in the world. The reason that finance has eclipsed the rest of the country is because it brings in more money - it is a positive feedback loop. Scotland's tax base will be substantially dependent on oil revenue which will fall dramatically over the next two decades so its current revenue advantage will disappear. Combine that with the spending and revenue measures that failed in the UK as a whole but would have passed in Scotland and you have a recipe for higher tax and/or large budget deficits. If you run those deficits then you run into the issues surrounding sharing a currency without a lender of last resort and with no bearing on monetary policy. If you raise taxes then you put even greater pressure on businesses and individuals to move elsewhere. Even if there is no budgetary crisis eventually there will be some sort of financial crisis and policymakers in Scotland won't have the tools to deal with it. They'll then either have to take on their own currency or join the Eurozone (or find some way to work with the Bank of England).
-
A small poorly diversified economy dependent on temporary extractive activities without its own monetary policy is going to have a hard time.

20 years from now they will probably regret it as they become the poor stepchild of their rich neighbour.

They don't LOOK that young. I mean, I still look like that. Right? Guys? Right?

Is SF2 now primarily a mod community project?
Milktrout replied to Akmatov's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Yes, exactly. Even modders are running out of steam. SF2 is on the back-side of its lifecycle but is still a superb game and has only gained playability with time. By the time you're finished with all the possible downloadable content from both Thirdwire and the community it will be 2018 and something new will be out. -
When I saw the subject I thought it was about booing Brazil fans last night. I'll go now.

Unfortunately apparently anyone can beat the England football team.

First Strike Mission In B-52
Milktrout replied to Chutedangle's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Streaming smoke? A few engines on fire? Seems normal for a B-52. Seriously though, as others have said stay high, use chaff/flares/ECM, make sure to have fighter escort, and be prepared to accept a deep sense of helplessness. -
Best Carrier Game
Milktrout replied to Chutedangle's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Also, with some minor changes to the aircraft .ini files you can make almost anything "carrier capable". You haven't lived (or died) until you've tried to land the "Sea TSR2" aboard the Ark Royal. -
Best Carrier Game
Milktrout replied to Chutedangle's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
NA - you get actual fleet combat. The mission to attack the Soviet Fleet is still the most heart-pounding I've ever flown in a sim. -
The lyrics were originally written as a poem, not a song. Only later were they set to the tune of a popular song of the era. So every time it's sung it's not the way it was originally intended.

Is SF:NA campaign winable?

What update are you using? In the most recent patches the NA campaigns were made easier. -
Campaigns Not Saving After a Mod
Milktrout posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I've got a merged install that I've added quite a few mods to. Now it won't save campaigns. Shy of deleting my saved games folder are there any suggestions about what might be broken and how to fix it?
