I have worked in heavy industry and have regularly used Fork-lift trucks and believe me I have seen a few trucks go over with their load, and yes it is very funny for the onlooker but not so much for the driver, who has a lot of questions to be answered after the incident. I once worked in a food warehouse driving a Fork-lift and I dropped a full pallet of cornflakes from about 70 ft after I had removed it from a storage rack, and the whole contents of the pallet were spilled over the floor. It took me 1 hour to sweep it all up and my supervisor was definately not impressed. I kept my job but about £3000 worth of stock was destroyed. Thankfully I am a lot more careful these days.

Hmmmm, Not sure what to make of that.

The 11 worst Soviet aircraft
RUSTYMORLEY replied to MigBuster's topic in Military and General Aviation
Like most aircraft series the first models are a bit ropey but as time goes by certain faults are corrected and improvements are made to the aircraft's capabilities, handling, flight characteristics, avionics and weapon systems etc. The MIG-23 probably was a bit of a handful especially the low-spec types which were sold to the Arabs. But having said that you get what you pay for. And you are right about Soviet aircraft, looking more brutal and warlike than western counterparts. But you have to give the Soviet arms industry some credit for making such rugged and long-lasting aircraft which sometimes created quite a problem for western opponents. Case in point - the introduction of the Russian built MIG-15 during the early stages of the Korean War led the Americans to realize just how far the Soviets had jumped forward in jet fighter technology. Never under-estimate the Ruskie's. -
PKK shootdown a Turkish Forces helicopter with MANPADS
RUSTYMORLEY replied to JungleThing's topic in Military and General Aviation
Maybee it was not fitted with warning systems or perhaps the aircraft warning systems were not working properly. I still think that helicopter pilot must have had some kind of warning / alarm going off as most combat aircraft and helicopters which are deployed in a combat role today are fitted with them. If this was the case then It is just crazy to send a slow moving target like a helicopter into a battle-field situation with no ECM or protection systems. !!! -
The 11 worst Soviet aircraft
RUSTYMORLEY replied to MigBuster's topic in Military and General Aviation
Interesting articles, very informative and thanks for posting. I tend to aggree with most of the choices but I think the MIG-23 was okay as a modern warplane when first introduced as a replacement for the widely-exported and used MIG-21, although it is now becoming obsolete as a front-line aircraft. Nevertheless some good choices for lousy aircraft. I mean the Kailinin K-7, what was the designer thinking. It looks like an over-sized bullfrog with wings. It deserved to crash and burn. -
PKK shootdown a Turkish Forces helicopter with MANPADS
RUSTYMORLEY replied to JungleThing's topic in Military and General Aviation
Well I have to say - that was a really graphic illustration of how effective Shoulder Launched Surface to Air Missiles are against slow moving aircraft like helicopters. I'm sorry for the crew, but clearly they were caught by surprise. No flares released, and the pilot didn't appear to take aggressive evasive action to avoid the missile. Surely his on-board warning systems would have alerted him to the launch of the missile. Was he hoping the missile would just miss, or what.??? -
Interesting, same basic layout but a much more advanced aircraft with new avionics affording a better combat performance than it's predecessor. SAAB really know how to make a sleek looking high-performance combat aircraft. I've got the J.29 Tunnan and the J.32 Lansen in my Strike Fighters stable and I love to fly them both. Maybee it's time for a Grippen.

Could have been an incendiary device as opposed to a bomb which would have destroyed the aircraft in the air, or possibly some catastrophic electrical fire, but it's still to early to be sure of the cause of the crash. If this proves to be yet another act of terrorism, one begins to wonder if there will be any more air travel in ten years time as people will simply refuse to get on a a large commercial jet airplane because of the fear of it being blown up by an act of terrorism. Maybee that's what the terrorists want, an end to international air travel, but how will that help them. ???

Average Age of USAF jets in the Middle East
RUSTYMORLEY replied to MigBuster's topic in Military and General Aviation
I think that the sand / dust which gets injested into the engines whenever a jet aircraft is in flight and especially on the ground is proving very damaging to high performance jet engines which are used in Combat Operations. It's just one of those penalties which must be endured when operating in a harsh desert climate where there is an ever present danger of fine dust particles. I think that the USAF is not the only airforce to suffer this problem. -
Yeah the Grippen is a facinating aircraft, if I am at home and not at work I think I will drop in and have a look. Thanks for posting the link logan4.

Falcon-Eagle for SF1 ?
RUSTYMORLEY replied to Piglet_7's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Yes, if you can add and integrate the weapons onto the aircraft Mod itself, as I don't know how to 'add new weapons'. Basically if the weapons come already added onto the aircraft then the answer is yes !!!. -
HMMM Looks interesting !!!!

North Korea Fighter Pilot Training Video
RUSTYMORLEY replied to Nicholas Bell's topic in Military and General Aviation
I hope that their nuclear weapons programme is just as fake as their combat flight training, if little Kim decides that the hour has come - god alone only knows what will happen if the nukes are real. We are all going to get dragged in. -
Could be a scam, especially if they are looking to set up a subscription and want your card details to set it up. Never heard of them myself.

North Korea Fighter Pilot Training Video
RUSTYMORLEY replied to Nicholas Bell's topic in Military and General Aviation
You know with that nutcase North Korean regime I can actually believe that video. Just demonstrates how stupid they are and so far away from reality. If I am correct they are so isolated from the real world to such an extent that the general population (apart from the military elite) don't even know how to access the internet. !!! -
Have to say that I have been looking for a good Sci-Fi game for a long time since I stopped playing Tachyon: The Fringe which I thought was a great game but it is old hat now. Star Citizen looks real good.

F-35 to Go Up Against A-10 in 'Common Sense' War Scenario Showdown
RUSTYMORLEY replied to MigBuster's topic in Military and General Aviation
Regardless, I would still prefer to stick with the A-10 as it has been designed from the outset as a specialized Ground Attack aircraft, and not as an aircraft like the F-35 which was designed to be multi-role and is being more or less tried out as a Ground Attack aircraft to see if it can do the job. Rather like a jack of all trades, trying his hand a different roles but becoming master of none. !! -
Is there a downloadable PC demo of STAR CITIZEN as I would like to have a look at it and try playing it before I jump in with both feet. ???

Agreed stick with the reliable and tested A-10, why tinker with something if it is working fine. -
Problems with SF1
RUSTYMORLEY replied to dannavy85's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Better to upgrade to SF 2 standard as SF 1 is getting old and I am noticing more problems with my existing SF 1 game after I upgraded to Windows 8.1. Try applying different service packs in the Troubleshooter section of Windows. I did this and found that my SF 1 game was eventually reasonably stable and playable. -
Unfortunately for most of us including me, this is something which we just have to endure. As our relatives get older we find that they fall into ill health and infirmity and we are required to tend to them in their time of need. Speaking for myself, my father died several years ago and my mum is still living but has now had to go into a care home for the elderly as she is no longer able to look after herself. I visit here regularly but each time I go I can see that there is little hope of her ever coming out of that care home, and I will never again see her in full health and lively and kicking. It is so sad but it is a fact of life, we all get older and we all have to put up with what comes with old age. I wish your father all the best ironroad and hopefully a speedy recovery. RUSTYMORLEY

I have never encountered this before in my FE 1 game but oddly enough I have a game called Panzer Elite Action and sometimes the trees are hanging in the air in the same way, weird. !!!

Are there any programs that can adjust fan speed/noise?
RUSTYMORLEY replied to Skyviper's topic in The Pub
My old computer had two separate fans, my new one has one big fan but still runs very hot to the touch on the top of the case and I often wonder if it is safe or if it may be damaging my computer. I reckon to much fan / ventilation is better than not enough fan / ventilation. -
OH dear OH Dear, would not want to be the parachute packer when this gets back to the man in charge.

Ten incredible cancelled military aircraft
RUSTYMORLEY replied to MigBuster's topic in Military and General Aviation
Some weird stuff there, the Kamov V-100 looks a real prospect - can't see why they dropped the project it really looks futuristic and well capable of handling itself in a scrap.
