Iron Eagle - have we finally covered everything?
RUSTYMORLEY replied to MigBuster's topic in The Pub
I like the guy as well, for me his first memorable Sci-Fi role was playing an alien in the film Enemy Mine ( 1985 ) which also starred Dennis Quaid as a human fighter pilot sent to fight against the aliens. The film got mixed reviews but I thought it was good enough to add to my collection when it was released.- 6 replies

DID SOMEONE SAY CAKE, MMMMMMMMMMMMM, YES PLEASE. !!!!!
-
I should think so. Komarov knew he was doomed and spent the last few remaining minutes of his life falling back to Earth in a malfunctioning spaceship cursing the designers and the men who had manouvered him into taking the Soyuz 1 position.
-
I think I have seen the photographs of this crash, very little remains of his body which was charred and burn in the crash and reduced to no more than a handful of parts. What a horrible end. Apparently the Soyuz 1 was a disaster waiting to happen having been rushed through and launched before it was ready.

4.14 patch has a flyable MBR 2 wip
RUSTYMORLEY replied to dsawan's topic in IL-2 Series / Pacific Fighters / Cliffs of Dover: Mods & Skinning Chat
Yes, very nice dsawan, unfortunately it will be some time before the 4.14 patch becomes available. I was on the Mission for Today website the other day and Team Daidalos reckons the patch will be quite a while yet as there is still more to do and add before release. But we will have to continue to wait and see. !!! I have to agree, the MBR.2 with the Finnish skin does look good. -
Tragic loss to the Soviets and to mankind as well. Such a meaningless death. You would think that the Soviets would have regarded him so highly that they would have banned him from flying in order to protect him from such accidents as this. He had achieved a great deal for the Soviets and of course was elevated to the status of a hero, but even that did not save him on that fateful day. I dread to think what he was thinking just before his plane hit the ground, perhaps he thought ''how can this happen to someone like me''. Life is a folly and is full of mystery and things which we do not understand and life can be snuffed out in a mere second even for those of us who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to achieve so much for humanity. Can't explain it. ?????????

Superiority "WITHOUT LIMITS". MiG-35 Is Here.
RUSTYMORLEY replied to Kaiser1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Very nice, we got one in SF1 as well. Although it is very, very similar in outward appearance to the Mig-29, which we also got in SF1- 11 replies

The MIG-31s used for missile trials in the video are a little old by today's standards but still they are still one hell of a Soviet beast. -

I take it that this missile if and when fired at an enemy, is as stated in the video virtually immune and can't be intercepted at such a speed high. Another head-ache for the Americans and NATO in general. -
B-17 Waist Gunner Training Video USAAF Cool as hell.
RUSTYMORLEY replied to Skyviper's topic in The Pub
I have got a copy of a black and white US training video entitled Flying the F4U Corsair (1944). It appears to be a really complicated machine to set up and fly correctly. But I guess you have to take into account that it was one of the most advanced US fighters to be produced at the time the video was made. It has been digitally restored and is available to watch on You Tube ! -
It should be respected and left alone without interference, many sailors and airmen died protecting the LEX.

Just love that film, as you say Menrva, real Spitfires and real Hurricanes with an all star cast.

Yes I am definitely going to watch this one. Heard about it on the internet some time ago and it looks just as good as Battle of Britain (1969).

Interesting job for a cop and you get a good birds-eye view of the city, whereas I am stuck inside a lousy freezer building all day driving a pallet truck for a living. I think the airborne cops have got a better job than mine. !!

YAK - 130
RUSTYMORLEY posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Anyone care to produce a YAK-130 fighter for SF1..........??? Something relatively new from the venerable Yakovlev stable. Would have uploaded a picture / photo but can't seem to find a decent size one. -
I don't agree with guns at all but I can see the argument for and against them. I would hope that all of us here at Combat Ace are wise enough and adult enough not to try to shut down someonelse's thoughts and ideas by asking the admin staff to ban their arguments or censor their views in their posts. This is of course providing they are not extremist and do not advocate violence towards others. !!!
-
Things like this will always happen. !!!! It will continue as long as there are issues which need to be debated and some people who do not want to debate issues like gun laws. We all have different views and some want to discuss them openly whilst others can't see the others viewpoint and simply try to shut down any argument by censorship............. It's not fair but it happens. !!

Hmmmm.................... interesting looks like it is based in reality yet appears futuristic but, plausible. There is always something new coming around the corner.

It is a good time for Trekkie fans and Sci-Fi fans in general, plenty of shows on TV and loads of DVD's available along with numerous Sci Fi conventions to visit and lots of memorabelia available to buy. This really is a massive industry with a world-wide fan base which just seems to get bigger every year.
-
I am also watching re-runs of Star Trek The Next Generation on UK terrestrial television, - old stuff, but still worth a good watch.

Good to hear that from a fellow Babylon 5 fan. If I am correct the show won a number of Television awards in the US for Science Fiction. Well deserved and the characters will be sadly sadly missed. Pity they did not make another series.
