  1. geez, look at the size of that thing! Crazy!
  2. Birthdays Today!

Happy Birthday guys! and many many thanks for your work we all enjoy!
  3. from what I've read, campaign is quite f***ed up and non-historical melodrama, me I expected something at least on par with Forgotten Battles ones I think I'll stay over water for now doing some sqadron-sized dogfights (with not much replayability given there's no QMB as it was in Il2) before it get patches or I get bored with it.
  4. true, I like it as someone called it over at 1C forum, pun to old title: SOW=Stay Over Water I haven't tried campaign yet, also purely offline player, but given still the performance over land it is indeed restricted to dogfights over Channel, some 12-15 planes max for me. What I hate about this title is it's addictive despite it's limitations and bugs
  5. One of the best film directors of the second half of XX century died at age of 86. Dog Day Afternoon, Serpico, 12 Angry Men, Network... the list goes on and on
  6. Rise of Flight field mods.

right, D.I I had in my mind, didn't know about Alba J.I, thanks
  7. Rise of Flight field mods.

I still have to find free evening to learn bombing with DFV C.V... IIRC once I heard about the possibility of making WW2 title based on ROF engine (but I think that was before 777 got involved) so maaaaybe this is a testing platform for modelling reflective sights? Frankly, I'd love that 37mm Spad variant, or metal Junkers D.I (?) Gr.Viper mentioned ...or a full-metal attack plane with 37mm cannon and reflective sight... oh, wait, wrong war.
  8. Kegetys released two mods that makes it finally playable on my humble lower-end system (damn! it was a Crysis killer three years ago) first one are downscaled textures of many objects, the second one disables ssao (I noticed no difference in terms of visuals) and gives about 50%-100% more frames for me www.kegetys.net
  9. one more worth trying -lowering resolution from my native 1280x1024 to 1024x768 gives BIG performance boost in small dogfights, from 15-20 to up to 40 fps
  10. Rise of Flight field mods.

with such sights I wonder how they managed to loose the war... Purely offline player, so no use for me anyway. Two crossed wires do just fine
  11. Rise of Flight field mods.

Oh! When they will start selling blasters..?
  12. Iron Dome is doing a Great job.

That's some great news my friend! Stay safe Mannie!
  13. Dunno about the rivers, but the midday terrain palette is tad too bright for me, at dawn or sunet it's spot on though
  14. ok, most of them then after some tweaking and running for some time overall performance is more steady meaning less sudden fps drops near the bombers etc, but the stutter is still there, and flying over land is still not an option no matter the level of detail, not to mention dogfighting there. Some shots, notice the fraps framerates... Testing the DM I noticed some oddities, for example hammering other aircratf head on causes my plane to magically disappear without a trace (or fireball) while the other plane tends to fly like nothing happened, with no visible damage. Check the Spit vs. 110 collision above. All on high difficulty except engine management.
  15. OMG! Pol, give us mooore! can't wait for P4!
  16. That's true, looking at into what original transformed all these years (playing UP201 and 4.101m+HSFX 5) I still hope CloDo will make it, but it doesn't have that "WOW" factor anymore with such porked release. And I'm tired of new sims that require year of patching to become playable. In the good old days sims were working out of the box.
  17. Return of the Commodore 64

I sold mine many many years ago... made me nostalgic now. But does it ships with amber-black CRT?
  18. close but wrong! Make own small Oleg/Luthier shrine in your dining room, that should help! realy sad, as it's addictive... even as 3 vs 3 dogfights over Channel
  19. soo... ok, I actually have worse framerates after applying this patch... I'm starting to think 1946 was the opus magnum in the Il2 series...
  20. Beta patch: http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=20795 very slow download, 64 MB total Mirrors: Eng http://uploading.com/files/m21m18d1/IL2COD_13915.rar/ Rus http://uploading.com/files/a21736c7/..._13915_ru.rar/
  21. money, true to some point, but they had quite a bit of time to spend those nickels in a proper way, from what I see and hear they even had not send two guys from sound department and texture artist to capture real Merlin sounds and make proper english grass colour palette (we can argue about the latter, the sounds can't defend themselfs IMO)
  22. one of the problems I have with this title is this: to me this just doesn't look like big nextgen 2011 release that was in development for more or less 6 years, more-what I see does not justify such performance on quad i5 with 1GB Ati HD 5770 on board, W7 64bit system. And it's just single plane in a free flight mode... edit: shot taken at all high settings with roads, grass and shadows on beta patch should be up later today, will see (side note: I wonder how long will it take for BOB guys to put into their sim grass, they already made autogenerated, based per surface type, trees available since 2.10)
  23. it's the general ballistics and gravity data IIRC, hardcoded so no edits possible without serious HEX editing assuming you know what to change, correct me if I'm wrong [GunData] GunTypeList=GunData.dat BallisticData=G1.dat ArmingTime=5 MinBulletMach=0.3 <----Setting suggested by Stary, default is higher. as for above the minbulletmach= works for all fired bullets not only tracers, setting low values (below 0.4) used to slow the game slightly as engine tracks every single projectile, default value of 0.7 (~850 km/h) is waay to high, 0.3 or 0.2 are more realistic value, still able to deliver some damage ArmingTime=5 <---- this I think is for time-fuzed..? But if so, value isn't in seconds I think
