So...sorry for the long reply, the first Fighter by the Philippine Air Force is the P-26 Boeing "Peashooter", a good monoplane fighter when it first flew in 1932...but by December 1941, the P-26 was clearly outdated. However, even so, fighters from the 6th Pursuit Squadron of the Philippine Army Air Corps managed to take off even under enemy fire from zero's.
Lead by Captain Jesus A. Villamor, their Squadron managed to shoot down 4 japanese aircraaft. 1 G3M "Nell" and 4 zeros. 2 were shot down by Villamor himself.
Not really that interesting for some people out there but...hey...a peashooter vs a zero ain't a fair fight.
