Great mate,I love your works! A made a quick try and I discovered a,ehm, small issue...the cockpit don't exist, only the gunsight is present! The plane don't look bad for my standard ( BTW,I need to play with low graphic settings unfortunately). So an improvement is needed... -

A-4E or A-4H (72)?
RustyKurnass replied to FD2004's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
You're right probably, but i mean that in the real life the DEFA cannon developed a heavy punch, especially used in AG role. You need to master A/A gunnery with this weapon, personally I don't open fire if a bogey is out of 0,4-0,3 miles. Moked was an operation that focused primarily in obtain air superiority by close/destroy Arab base and as much possible airplanes on the soil, and the French-made guns was used with great result, can you imagine the havoc that a Vautour with 4 30mm cannon caused on planes parked on a tarmarc? And with this mindset that Israeli equipped the Ahit with the DEFA that was angled down, for strafing purpose. -
A-4E or A-4H (72)?
RustyKurnass replied to FD2004's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
No mate, reallY. In order to sell to Israel the A-4 under the defensive rules, the A-4F was downgraded in many respect:some weapons was omitted ( Rockeyes CBUs,Bullpup missiles,BLU-27 napalm canister,Shrike ARMs).Also various avionics components was removed :as mentioned by streakeagle, the hump was deleted with the relative Lear Siegler nav and bombing computers,as the ALQ-51A/100 RWR and the Foxtrot's multipurpose gunsight and the capability to use optically guided glide bombs. Again as said by streakeagle, the original 20mm Colt cannon was replaced by a pair of 30mm DEFA guns,as a lesson from the high success this weapons showed during the Six Day Wars ' Moked operation by the various French builded planes in IAF service at the time. Another addition to the H version as per Israeli request was the UHF AN/ARC-51A radio on the new squared fin top. Obviously in the following years the IAF retrofitted the planes with some of the deleted systems, obtaining better result in his definitive version, the N:And ironically, during the YKW's Operatin Nickel Grass, the US delivered the emergency aid A-4F directely from Navy squadrons, completely equipped of the initial banned systems... So,in the game, the basic E and H are without ECM and RHAW,you need to wait 'till the planes upgrade during the campaign. as stated by dtmdragon,go for the two Ahit packs!!!! -

"Operation Desert Storm" for SF2 (Redux) - Part 1 of 3
RustyKurnass replied to eburger68's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Mate, Australia sent only transport and choppers in ODS,no combat aircraft in ODS. Check this site , I use it a lot for modeling purpose and is very good. Gianni -
Strike Fighters 2 : Operation Desert Storm Redux
RustyKurnass replied to MigBuster's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters Series News
Personally yes, I'm currently play ODS with the VFA-81,an upgrade are more than welcome! Also,I played some different Service/planes since joined the community, and I think that in the strike missions, more ABA type will be incremented:for example,I didn't run a single base attack with the Brit Tornado, and we know that the reality was quite different... Aircraft upgrades limit
RustyKurnass replied to RustyKurnass's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Thanks a lot guys! So the cahnges will be simple! Yakarov your're right about the C1,Israel don't use this denomination but instead the nickname Balata ( Brick) for the handling characteristic and was accepted bu the squadron on 16 April 1975 and passed to the Valley Squadron on 28 July 1977,receiving the C2 on 14 July 1977.But the two types coexisted for some months during the transition from the Brick to the Pirate ( IAF nickname for the C2). By pics also, the 101 squadron operated the very basic C1 and not the slightly upgraded one with the nose and air intake's strakes, but I want a RWR that are present in the C1_77 only. About the grey scheme, was adopted approximatively with the introduction of the F-15s. My infos are extrapolated from this book . Gianni -
Aircraft upgrades limit
RustyKurnass posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Hi all guys, I'm currently play in SF2I with the Exp Pack in the 1974 Golan Stalemate with the 101 Squadron;I lightly modified thr aircraft type upgrades in order to mirror what happened in the real in the Squadron. This is the Campaign original ini lines UpgradeType=FIXED Upgrade[01].Date=04/01/1975 Upgrade[01].Type=KfirC2 Upgrade[01].Texture=IDFCamo1 Upgrade[02].Date=02/01/1978 Upgrade[02].Type=KfirC2 Upgrade[02].Texture=IDFGrey1 And the modified UpgradeType=FIXED Upgrade[01].Date=04/01/1975 Upgrade[01].Type=KfirC1 Upgrade[01].Texture=IDFCamo2 Upgrade[02].Date=01/01/1977 Upgrade[02].Type=KfirC1_77 Upgrade[02].Texture=IDFCamo2 Upgrade[03].Date=02/01/1978 Upgrade[03].Type=KfirC2 Upgrade[03].Texture=IDFGrey1 But despite I'm "flying" in the 1979,the aircraft in use is still the KfirC1_77. So what I want to know is if exist a max number of upgrades allowed .Otherwise, what will be the problem for the last upgrades? Thanks all, Gianni -
Can't load DT on airplanes
RustyKurnass posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Good day all guys. I'll start a campaign with the A-6E in ODS ( no Redux) but I can't load the planes with external tanks, the items are present in the available stores but I can't upload'em on the plane But in the Single mission the problem don't exist. If I remember well,I've the same problem with the OV-10A in SF2V A&G Exp. ,still unresolved. Also, what I to do to use the A-6E_90 instead of the _TRAM in ODS? I've a full merged game patched at July 2013 Thanks all in advance. -

I don't changed anythings in the load out,and isn't a problem of the single unit but of al the a-6Es... you0re right about the A-6E_90 ,my fault. -
Rocket pod question
RustyKurnass replied to RustyKurnass's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Beautiful job! Personally I'm not afraid about the F-4s,as with your twin and triple mounted podsI've more than covered different weapons configurations. The A-4 and A-7 are my primary recipients of the slant two pods for Vietnam or Israel SEAD missions. But obviously this is a personal consideration! -

Hi guys, I wait quite some time before post this but I've a issue with my SF2V A6G Exp pack. I noted that some planes don't upgrades to the expected versions/skin;this happens to planes at which I replaced the default textures with new ones in the Campaign.DATA.ini. Someone can help me in some way? Thanks in advance, Gianni -
