Third Wire F-8 Crusader Upgrade & Enhancement
RustyKurnass replied to dtmdragon's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
That's true and I'm very glad of the job you're done! I love that finally can use the F-8C with four 'Winders with the VF-24 for example ( love this squadron and made the appropriate change in the number list to have it in the 4xx range of Modex). What I mean is if you or someone else know how work the assignament of the decals to specific squadrons by the game ( I know that can be edited the appropriate lines in the decals inis). As you already knew, the squadrons rotated on the various 27C carriers during the Viet War, and this is a complication for the decals, but have the correct carrier name on the planes will be great ( for other planes also) Last stuèid thing,I'll expect that also the basic F-8C will be able to load the Y rack,is there a specific reason to ignore it? Only couriousity- 9 replies

"Unlocking" RF Units in WOV.
RustyKurnass replied to Carter28's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
In SF2 is very simple, maybe work also in the SF1 series. open the Campaign you want to fly,open both the Campaign.ini and Campaign_Data.ini Add in the Campaign.ini the new Unit under the respective Nation ( USN,USAF,USMC) and at this point you will be able to fly the Campaign. For example the CampaignV1A In the Data.ini [AirUnit166] AircraftType=RF-101C Squadron=15TRS ForceID=1 Nation=USAF StartDate=4/1965 RetireDate=4/1967 DefaultTexture=Grey StartNumber=0 BaseArea=Udorn RTAFB BaseMoveChance=0 RandomChance=100 MaxAircraft=16 StartAircraft=16 MaxPilots=16 StartPilots=16 Experience=100 Morale=100 Supply=100 MissionChance[SWEEP]=0 MissionChance[CAP]=0 MissionChance[INTERCEPT]=0 MissionChance[ESCORT]=0 MissionChance=0 MissionChance[CAS]=0 MissionChance[SEAD]=0 MissionChance[ARMED_RECON]=0 MissionChance[ANTI_SHIP]=0 MissionChance[RECON]=100 UpgradeType=FIXED Upgrade[01].Date=1/1966 Upgrade[01].Type=RF-101C Upgrade[01].Texture=SEA The new entry in the CampaigV1A.ini [USAFUnit021] <------------------- New unit sequential number ForceID=1 UnitID=166 <---------------------------------- This number match the one in the Data.ini AircraftType=RF-101C <------------------------ Interested plane UnitName=15th TRS <------------------------- interested unit StartDate=04/02/1965 <------------------------- DescFile=wovRTStart.txt StartText=wovRTStart1.txt All the lines indicated above are to be changed accordingly to the relative ones in the Data.ini -

Hi gents,I searched for this question in the KB with no fortune. I noted that there are three value numbers determine the attachement position for the weapons, wich determine what? I'll like add the M35/M36 incendiary munitions in the belly of the B-57 in the specific. I've already changed the diameter and lenght lines in the plane Data.ini, but after looking the model' bomb bay open,I noted that the nose/tail separation of the bombs are pratically zero, but epecially for the forward weapons, there are some room to slightly move forward the weapons. any help will be more than appreciated, thanks! -

Help from any Gimp user around...
RustyKurnass replied to RustyKurnass's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Ok guys , think I solved the isuue with the decals. First I tried to paint directely on the maps, but obtain the right degree of distortion in order to show the marking correctely in game was too much for skill,so I choose the simply way and I halved the decals height. Now show more or less as I want; an only small issue is that the two decals aren't perfectly the same and I'd varied the scale in the relative ini as 3.20 and 3.25, but don't are so notable -

Hi all gents. I 've a very important ask from any user of Gimp,as I'm still in the lower step of the learning curve about this programm. Some days ago I started to customize some F-18 skins for El Dorado Canyon and now I'll add some rivets but was stupid enough to not create a common map of the vert tails (that now are complete of painted markins for any of the four squadrons). So, before start to became crazy, is possible with Gimp to add a transparent layer over the map, drawing the rivets and made a copy ( trasparent obviously) that can be overimpressed on the others tail maps? Just like adding a acetate sheet over a drawing, work on it and gluing over another drawing? Hope to be clear of what I mean and that someone can help me. Thanks in advance -

Hi guys, someone lsot some of his precious time for my decals problem? In the meantime I've finished a quick skin mod ( in reality decals and the unit badge painted aft the cockpit) of the VAW-127 Seabats, still for the Coral Sea' CVW-13 during the 1986 Med Cruise -

Thanks guys, attached the Decals.ini. Soulfreak,to answer you, paint as much markings as possible was basically my idea,I've done this on all four VFAs tail textures, service markings, ecc... even the VFA-131 squadron name on the spine, but the problem is that even so,at least the part of markings that will be on the spine of the fuselage mesh will be deformed ( and, by the way, I don't know if I will be able to determine the contact point of the two meshes...my skills are very limited) Decals.ini -

Good day guys, about this little project, I'm close to the end but I've a small issue. I guess for the way the F-18 model was designed, that when I apply the Squadron decals on the plane spine, look like squashed in the horizontal . By the way, this happen only with the VMFA-314 one, probably 'cause the bigger of all. Note that this decal will be placed through two meshes ( nose and fuselage). VFA-132 all fine Same for the VMFA-323 one And now the VMFA-314 Obviously I need to edit the decal lines to overlap each other on the meshes, but I stopped when noted how much the decal is distorted respect the tga file. Any help and tips are more than welcome. -

Exactly! I don't think we need something from others, the community here is so great that we have all is needed, now also the Banshee! I mean exactly what Wrench said,as in Vietnam Gold,a rotation od the Carrier groups. For example, USS Valley Forge was one of the first carrier deployed ( and was committed to the confict at least other three times) but isn't in the game, to no mention many more. This mod is so good, with this issue solved will be very close to perfection ( implementig some night missions is another small thing)- 121 replies

RustyKurnass replied to Do335's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Hi guys,I downloaded and installed this mod only this year during the lockdown and simply follow in love... But I want to ask,why for the US navy we play basically with three carriers (Essex,Oriskany and Bataan), with only the Kearsarge and Lake Champlain rotating? Thanks to WhiteBoySamurai pack and other modders effort for the planes, the carriers in game will have some more choice now; no one thinked to a simple update 'bout this?- 121 replies
