  1. I had a problem with missing shadows on weapons and the solution that worked for me was to have the lod file named exactly as the TypeName entry in the data.ini file. For example: TypeName=OuterPylon_LAU117 ObjectFullName=Pylon+LAU117 (for Maverick) ObjectDataFile=OuterPylon_LAU117_data.INI [LOD001] Filename=OuterPylon_LAU117.lod or TypeName=_A-4_OuterPylon_LAU117_HV ObjectFullName=Pylon+LAU117 (for Maverick) ObjectDataFile=_A-4_OuterPylon_LAU117_HV_data.INI [LOD001] Filename=_A-4_OuterPylon_LAU117_HV.lod
  2. I would prefer a dedicated guide for each release package, but if it is easier for you to make a single general guide that covers all packages, that would be fine too.
  3. There was a WIP shot of the MiG-23 here: http://combatace.com/topic/81785-sukhois/page-3?do=findComment&comment=678417
  4. 3 months peace and quiet in this thread and then all of a sudden... BOOM and a very big one at that... I like it Superb job as always!
  5. Cutting just the doors (or just one door) could be useful as these could be animated to open as canopy on a fighter and thus displayed in open position when on the ground. Just a thought...
  6. Hi Cocas, models look quite interesting. Not sure how much what-if you want these to be, so just for information, Soviet aircraft constructors were sort of specialized. Tupolev would build mostly heavy bombers and passenger aircraft (Tu-128 was the sole exception, but it was a very very heavy interceptor), Sukhoi would do heavy fighters, fighter-bombers and attack aircraft, MiG - mostly light fighters and so on. The Tu-11 above would be more in line with Lavochkin's or Yakovlev's work at the time, so La-something or Yak-something would be more credible in my opinion. But for a what-if Tu-11 is also fine.

Martin, I hope you mean that you consider the model finished and not that you are giving up the project.
  8. Dear modders, I know you are all busy with various projects and placing requests is not a usual procedure here, but still I would greatly appreciate it if anyone would be willing to assist. I am trying to re-create a Bulgarian MiG-21MFR (12 standard MFs were modified to use a simple pod for aerial photography, named RFK). For that matter I need the RFK pod. The RFK pod itself was basically a UB-16-57UM pod with launcher tubes removed, a simple cone placed in the front instead of the launcher tubes, the back side closed as well and 2 AFA cameras fitted inside. Could anyone with some free time build the subject pod? Here is a drawing of the UB-16-57UM pod with dimensions listed. The pod does not have to be anything fancy with all the locks and mounting elements as in the drawing, just a simple tube shape with cone in front and closed back side, the size of a UB-16-57UM pod. Thank you in advance!

  10. Thank you so much, cocas, just what I needed!!!

  16. Acesfakia, thank you, but that is not what I have requested. We have had the R and D pods for MiG-21R for ages (ever since SF1 series) and I can add these without any problem to any MiG-21 variant I like for the fun of it. However I prefer to stick to the actual situation and it was that the R and D pods were not fitted to the MiG-21MF. Instead a custom built RFK pod out of a UB-16-57UM rocket pod was used. The drawing by Linden Hill decals is not accurate according to Bulgarian MiG-21 pilots. I really do not mean to make a big discussion or argue with anyone. I placed a simple request, which cocas understood perfectly and spent his time in making the object I need. That is all. Perfect, cocas, greatly appreciate it.
  17. Guys, please hold it. Cocas got my request very well. Cocas you have built exactly the shape I need. MiG-21MFR is not MiG-21R. It could well be that MiG-21MFR is only a Bulgarian designation for 12 MiG-21MFs that were modified for simple photo-recce missions. The RFK pod was a custom pod, built by Bulgarian technicians to give the MiG-21MF some simple recce capabilities. That was necessary because the MiG-21Rs we had, that used the "R" and "D" pods, shown by acesfakia in his post, had reached the end of their operational life and were grounded. At the same time the "R" and "D" pods were not fitted to other MiG-21 variants (MF or Bis), because of operational issues - the pods would change the balance of the MiG-21MF and bis to an unacceptable level and further more with a pod fitted, the MiG-21MF or bis woudl have to land with fuel level below the safety minimum. These are actual comments from Bulgarian pilots and technicians, who flew/operated the MiG-21R and MiG-21MFR at the time, shared in one of the Bulgarian aviation forums. Pictures of the pod are rare, I have seen just 1 (one) and it was with a poor quality, not much of a help for a modder. That is why I did not post a picture, nor a better blueprint. Edit: Here is the single picture available:
  18. Yes, that's great! Thank you, cocas. Pictures are not available, but for 1, black and white and with very poor resolution. So, with respect to the skin it will be mostly guesswork on my side.
  19. The picture shows the UB-16-57UM pod, not the RFK pod. I gave it only for general reference about the shape and size. The RFK pod is basically just the outer shell of a UB-16-57UM pod without launch tubes, or anything which is related to launching unguided rockets. My bad I did not provide a clearer drawing and I aplologize for that. I will edit the picture and remove the unnecessary details to avoid confusion. And, yes, considering what I have seen uploaded here at CA in terms of level of detail and complexity of the model, I believe the object I am talking about is simple. Of course I know nothing about 3d work, but the object is a tube, closed with a cone at the front end and a plate at the back end.
  20. Hey, Martin, what do you know, another Martin in this thread...
  21. What kind of pod is that, Crusader? Haven't seen it so far.
  22. Denis, would you please include the AfterAtar9C.ini file in the pack? Without it the aircraft have no visible afterburner effect. Thank you!
