BH&H 2 Screenshots and Movies Thread
jerhear replied to Polovski's topic in WOFF BH&H2 - General Discussion
Hi Becker I don't know why Veltjen's Jasta 15 Albatros would come up with that label on it. It is labeled correctly in the WOFF Skin pack and it is not one of my Moded skins, it's a 2013 original which I have seen many times as I fly Jasta 18 and 15 most of the time. The Sim sometimes does glitchy things with the skins. I have seen, for instance, Jasta 18 skins on the lineup for Flight B, while the Flight A skins are from Jasta 17. It just happens sometimes. I have not, however, had a stray like this appear in Flight B. Although on occasion I will have something wierd in B fight such as a Fokker DVII with Richthofen's red triplane skin overlayed, which is quite an interesting sight. I think that happens with me because I mess around with the skins so much and I piss the Sim off. If it persists you should report it in the SimHq Tech issues thread. Jb -

BRILLIANT! Exciting to read. The Youtube video was a master stroke. Going to have to go back to the previous postings to refresh my memory on the backstory there. Glad you kept going with it. Jerry H. -

Hello T 12 To get the different views of your aircraft, toggle F1 to the chase view, you should be able to use the arrow keys on your keyboard to go 360 around your aircraft. If you look in the key map in the workshop I think there are other keys on the number keyboard that you can use as well. To look at other aircraft toggle F1 to the Player/Target view which is just the rear of your aircraft. when you hit the tab key it will mark the next closest enemy aircraft with that yellow circle thingie. you can toggle through them. Make sure you have selected aircraft only on the Tac or you will get views of yourself from the ground as well, this limits the views to aircraft only. If you want to see other friendly aircraft hit Control + tab to toggle through these. Each of these views will be of that aircraft viewed as if you were looking toward your own plane. You can increase or decrease the size of these views but not the angle. If you are wanting to make good screenshots of these views you will see that they have the yellow circle on them. In order to clean this up you will have to take your screenshot to your Paint program or GIMP or whatever editing program you have to paint over that spot. Clear as Mud? Jerry

I have sent the 10th version of the Alternative Skins Mod to Sandbagger, so it should be posted sometime soon. There are about 80 new personal skins in this new release. Some are the markings on documented aircraft for which the pilot is not known, some are for use with a certain Staffel but most will work in a number of units. Look at the ReadMe file and it will explain the reasoning behind the markings.

looking back at my notes for previous problems I see that, in addition to disabling the Splash I also find it useful for follow item 47 and disable the campaign videos and music.

MAYO If your still having problems try item 65 on the FAQ. I know it says this is for laptops but the Splash screen in shell music always causes me problems. Jerry H

Wouldn't let me upload these yesterday, try again today

NEW SKINS RELEASED All two-seater skins have been removed from the User Skins, More Skins and Alternative Skins mods. I have placed them in a separate Two-Seater Mod. So now there are four. A number of new fighter skins have been added to the Alternatives for Staffels 37/40/41/41/43/44s/45/46/48?49 and 50. No 8th skin pack was created for these latest skins. Instead, the 96 new fighter skins have been added to Pack 1 to fill up the space left by the removal of the two-seaters that were there. There has been significant shifting of skins between mods and numerous tweaks and corrections. So, it will be necessary to download all four mods to avoid duplications and that warning message that comes up if you have the previous version of one of these Mods and add the new version of another that has some of the same skins in it. The ReadMe files have been changed as well. I eliminated all the change logs as most of them are not really relevant and have become tedious and confusing over time. They could still use a little work but they’re good enough for now. The most significant feature of these new releases are the Roland skins. These are possibly going to be added to the WOFF Skin Pack in the future, but I am releasing them in the interim. The panels and fittings have been altered to represent six different production models, along with various new camouflage schemes. There are fewer unit markings and some new ones that have a historical basis. I have moneyed around with the Pfalz DIIIa skins. I started out just adding some bling to a few, examples below, but ended up adding some new features to them. I, evidently, have no self control. OvStachel is working on a complete refresh of the Pfalz, which will take some time. In the interim, I have reworked the lozenge wings and fuselage fittings on my modified skins, and I will rework some of the earlier ones as time permits. The skins in the WOFF Skin pack do not have these modifications unless they are ones I modified previously for the Alternate Skins Mod. When Ov releases his new Pfalz in the future, these will all have to be pulled and redone if they are not part of his refresh. The refresh includes a new mapping for the Pfalz skin, and the present ones will not work on it. But that won’t be for some time, possibly years . I have made four new personal skins with these modifications for you guys to use for your own personal markings, or just to fly as is. For references on the fabric application, shading, fitting and other changes to the skin, I mostly used, Windsock’s Datafile 21 and their “PFALZ DIIIA AT WAR!” volumes 1 and 2. The Wingnut Wings website was also very useful. Plus, I referred to mockups of OvStachel’s new work for comparison.

I think it would be a great visual addition to have the flight leaders and the player, if he is flight leader, send up flares for some of the commands he give, especially for rejoin and return to base.

They're not on the screenshot. I had everything paused to take the shot, then when I came back to the cockpit view I had Nieuports up my butt. Just relaying how many things are going on at once here. -

Was patrolling over the Ypres battlefield (3rd one). Was very impressed by all that was going on at the same time. Ground bombardment, infantry attack you can't see from this height without labels, Archie fire, rain and you can see lightening striking in the distance (love the lightening). On top of all that, we (Jasta 18) are about to be attacked by some Nieuport 27s. Amazing! -
Anybody else out there having problems after installing V1.32? Began to get error messages right off but could still get the sim to work. Now, after a restart it's a no go from the start, usually. Sometimes I can get to the start mission screen but then it's a runtime crash. Used all my little tricks from the past but I'm still down. Hate to have to do a fresh install but I may have to.

As you will find posted in the Mods Release thread: Sandbagger will be posting the re-release of all three Jerbear skin Mods shortly. This is the 4th release of the More Skins by jerbear Mod and the 8th release of User Skins and Alternative Skins. There are three packs (1, 2 and 3) in the User skins Mod. (638 skins) Four packs (4, 5, 6, and now 7) in the More User skins Mod. The 7th skin pack (202 skins)is now added to thid mod making it 721 skins. The Alternate Skins Mod is only one pack with 216 skins. A number of changes were made to the skins in the first 3 packs, which are contained in User Skins by Jerbear. These do not replace any WOFF Skin Pack skins Pol asked me to do some simple re-work on the Roland CII skins. I got carried away with the project and ended up doing much more than was requested. These are still the same base skin, I believe Makai made the skins along with some help from a few others. My changes are just in the drawn lines and camouflage patterns. The skins are supposed to be released in a future update, unless Pol wants some more changes to them. I re-worked and moved all the Roland CII ace skins to Pack 1 in the User skins Mod, there are 71 Roland CII ace skins. Shots of the DVII OAW are in the Mods Release thread. I will try to get all the Roland shots this thead will accept her ROLAND CII skins As I said before, Pol asked me to do some simple re-work on the Roland CII skins. I got carried away with the project and ended up doing much more than was requested. These are still the same base skin, I believe Makai was made the skins along with some help from a few others. My changes are just in the drawn lines and camouflage patterns. The skins are supposed to be released in a future update, unless Pol wants some more changes to them. There were four basic styles as far as appearance and I recreated them with new drawn lines on Makai’s base skins. This is all based on Windsock Datafile 49, the information on the Wingnut Wings site and Jack Herris’ “Roland Aircraft of WW1” along with more information in some of his other books. The four basic types I tried to introduce are first production batch, third production batch, the CIIa and The CII (Li). The one with the checked underwings is a 2nd production batch Roland, the only outward difference from the 1st batch is the national insignia placement. This is all I can get on this thread so there are more shots on the Sim/HQ site if you want to see them. -
7th Skin Pack Sandbagger will be posting the re-release of all three Jerbear skin Mods shortly. In the Alternative Skins Mod by jerbear I have completed a Fokker DVII OAW covered in five-color fabric. The skin three versions, early, mid-production and late-production models. I'll post however many shots this thread will allow and put some more on the Screenshots thread. You can go to SimHq and there will probably be some more there. FOKKER DVII OAW with five-color fabric covering. I felt the five-color fabric was a significant omission from the skin pack. The fabric may seem a little bright compared to the four-color Fokker built and five-color Albatros built machines already in the skin packs but, according to information I found in Windsock’s “Fokker VII anthology 2.” Dave Roberts wrote on page 22 “Incidentally, every confirmed DVII sample I have handle, and all the capture and technical reports I have read for the type, indicate straightforward clear doping of fabric, without any special finishing coat. Some aircraft apparently had brown varnish or matt lacquer applied, but it was far from universal. For the pattern direction and placement of fabric panels I relied on information from the above mentioned publication on information from Wingnut Wings. Some of these were used for new skins in Pack 7, but five versions, without any unit or personal marking are included in the Alternate Skins Mod. Some are in clear dope while two have the transparent brown dope over the fabric. These are provided for those who want to use them for personal skins and add their own markings. The middle shot shows the brown tinted dope. These others are just randoms from the 7th skins pack, I will put the Rolands in the Screenshot thread.

Haven't managed to take a decent photograph yet. Hard to juggle everything the pilot needs to do and take the photo as observer, even with Level Auto Pilot.

I hit the link on the WOFF website this morning and all is back to normal.

Mike (Sandbagger) had to move it. He posted on SimHq that he has it back up but the link still doesn't work. Jerbear

I just finished watching Rick’s “How to WOFF,” which are excellent by the way Rick. I’m not equipped to make videos but I thought it a good idea to start a thread for Players/Spieler to talk about player options they favor which Rich touched on but didn’t have time to explain in a vid of reasonable length. So, I invite everyone to talk about your one or two of your favorite options and tell us why you like them. The one I wanted to start it off with is the All/Top Aces Only option. We all have our own approach to the Sim. Mine is a little different from Ricks’s and opposite in one particular area. Rick prefers to use only the Top Aces, I prefer to have them all. For those of you who are new to WOFF, have a look at the Skin Pack when you get a chance. There really are thousands of minor ace skins, mostly with well researched, authentic paint jobs. One of my main motivators to play the Sim is to imagine flying with these pilots. To see them on either side of me, know their names and something about the real pilots they represent. For me, this offers a deeper level of immersion and you’re missing a real treat that you paid for which is sitting in your computer taking up space. The personal markings on the machines add as much atmosphere and flavor to the Sim as the detailed clouds and landscape. To illustrate, below you’ll see two shots of Jasta 39 and two from Jasta 15, one with All skins (some are from the User Skins Mod) and the same Jasta with theTop Aces Only option. Jasta 15 was an elite unit with lots of top and minor aces while Jasta 39 has only a few minor ones. You can look up your comrades, most of them have a back story, a real one, see what information is there on them, often much more than you would expect. This can be done by going to the Intelligence Room and then looking in Pilot Dossiers or you can do a little research in your personal library if you have one. My go to books, since I usually fly German, are The Jasta Pilots and Above the Lines. These are published by Grub Street Press who also publishes similar books on the Allied Pilots. And, of course, there is always good old Google. You can Google or look up the enemies you face and maybe are lucky enough to shoot down, see how successful they were. See what stage in their career they were when you met and maybe defeated them or watched circle above you as you burn. That brings up another option you can use when you in Campaign, just toggle the labels to “labels Identity” and it will tell you if your opponent has a name. It gives me much more satisfaction in a kill to say “I shot down so and so” rather than just “I shot down a Camel.” Yes, the aces don’t die, even if shot down in flames, until their historical time to go West. They also don’t get credited with kills until they historically got credit regardless of how many they do or do not shoot down in the Sim. This is because they represent real pilots who had a real life. You may say to yourself, that’s just not realistic. Unrealistic would be a sky without these pilots in their individual and sometimes highly decorated machines. You have the same option the aces have, you can choose the “Pilot Never Dies” option. You may get shot down, but even a flaming death only results in a little longer hospital stay. Yes, I use this option much of the time. Think I’m a “Farb” if you want to but I’m not that great a pilot and I like to stick around awhile sometimes. And hey…this is Valhalla, (though I imagine most of the real pilots would think of it as Hell rather than a reward), they fight, they kill or they die and rise again to feast and carouse then ‘to bed…for tomorrow….BATTLE! Play around with the options that are there and see what’s right for you, and most of all have fun. Whatever you choose to use….nobody’s watching.

I just don't see any way to edit on this site. So, that's go west not east. You get confused about directions when you get old.

A new mod with two-seaters will be available soon. See the post in the Mods release thread and on SIm Hq forum These are some of the ones that would not fit on the Mods release thread The biggest impetus behind my beginning this group of skins was a new wing for the Rumpler that had lozenge camouflage on the bottom as well as the top and had, in my opinion, the proper size lozenges and orientation of the panels. -
NEW TWO-SEATER SKINS Sandbagger will be posting the re-release of User Skins and Alternative Skins by Jerbear Mods on his page shortly. I didn’t plan these in conjunction with the new patch. I just serendipitously got the bug to do some more two-seaters and was just finishing them up when the announcement for the patch came up. This release is a little different. Instead of making a 7th skin pack, I used some space I had available in Pack 2 (In User Skins Mod). I added 45 two-seaters and one Albatros DIII early to Pack 2. I added 22 two-seaters to the already existing 16 in the Alternative pack. The other, previously done two-seaters are scattered in the other packs, 4 are in More User skins and 60 more are in pack 1, which is part of (User skins). So, you will need to download User Skins by jerbear and Alternative Skins by jerbear to get the new ones (and most of the old ones) If you have not downloaded More User Skkins by jerbear there are four more in that Mod. The skins in the Packs 1 and 2 fill gaps in the skins where units were left out and use the default skins and provide skins for ace AI pilots. One important new feature are new lozenge wings for the Rumpler which have lozenge fabric on the bottom as well as the top and with lozenges that I believe are closer to the correct size and orientation. jJust as an aside, the ace skins work well as personal skins. The Alternative skins have replacement skins for units and aces that had speculative unit markings that have been shown to be incorrect by more recent information (after 2011 or 2013) and tweaks to skins that weren’t checked before being released (bands that don’t connect properly, warped national insignia, Along with these are some personal skins. Each skin is explained in the ReadMe files for their Mod. More shots can be seen on SimHQ and the screen shot thread here Jerbear
