Take advantage of this great opportunity from here. Exceptions include recently released and pre-order titles: DCS: Christen Eagle II by Magnitude 3 LLC, DCS: F-14 Tomcat by Heatblur Simulations, and the A-10C Enemy Within 3.0 Campaign by Baltic Dragon. DCS World Open Beta Update This weeks Open Beta update changelog can be found here. Highlights include: Updates to the recently released DCS: Christen Eagle II and MiG-21bis by Magnitude 3 LLC Updates to the C-101EB and C-101CC by AvioDev Hornet updates like corrected LAU-61 rocket weight, AIM-7 guidance without radar lock, and updated BRA and A/A Waypoint color and BRA selection Updates to several campaigns The Enemy Within 3.0 Campaign by Baltic Dragon This week Baltic Dragon’s latest A-10C campaign was released that can be purchased here. The Enemy Within 3.0 is a complete remake of the critically-acclaimed The Enemy Within campaign for the A-10C Warthog. This story-driven campaign puts you in cockpit of the Warthog as part of a small, 6-ship US detachment sent to Georgia. Your mission is to help contain a growing threat from a terrorist organization calling itself the "Caucasus Liberation Army" (CLA). As the story unfolds, you will be faced with a variety of challenges, including close air support, precision strikes, combat search and rescue, anti-ship strikes, and even air to air combat. Striving to be as realistic as possible, the units featured in the campaign are based on their real-life counterparts. It also uses a sophisticated radio control system, meaning that you must tune your on-board radios to the correct frequency to hear the more than 2000 custom voice overs available throughout 21 missions.Compared to the original campaign, version 3.0 offers following great additions and changes: 20 out of 21 missions have been rewritten from scratch. This includes the course of action, dialogues, briefings and background information More than 2/3 of the missions take place in different locations than the original ones, and most feature different challenges and enemies to provide a completely new experience, 3 entirely new missions that are designed to complement and extend the storyline The 8 pilot and 3 commander characters featured throughout the campaign have almost 4x more custom voice overs (over 2100) Additional documents and custom kneeboard pages are available for each sortie DCS: F/A-18C Hornet Update Our Hornet team continues their hard work on the cockpit systems, sensors and weapons of the F/A-18C. The current focus is on: Target of Opportunity (TOO) and Pre-Briefed (PB) HARM modes. Once complete, we will start work on the Litening II targeting pod for the Hornet; the ATFLIR will come at a later point in early access. Note that US Marine Corps Hornet’s operate the Litening II pod. However, this is not a simple copy and paste from the A-10C Litening II pod; this is still a significant amount of work, but it will allow us to bring a Hornet TGP into the game faster than the ATFLIR A huge amount of work is ongoing with the data link (D/L). This is probably the most complex system for the Hornet given the network sharing and new code that needs to be created. We are making good progress, and it will be a “game changer”. This will also address a new system of IFF in which locking an aircraft is no longer required to IFF interrogate it. The Hornet can operate on a D/L network and receive and correlate data from other Link-16 equipped aircraft (F/F) and surveillance aircraft like E-2 and E-3 AWACS (SURV) In additional to cleaning up the DUD and fuze logic / pull-up cue and break X for HD bombs, progress has been quite rapid on JDAM and JSOW. Like D/L, this is also a rather complex task that will take time. Like HARM, these GPS-guided weapons have both TOO and pre-planned modes with many attack options Work is ongoing on the Latent Track While Scan (LTWS) and Track While Scan (TWS) air-to-air radar modes. This will in turn tie into the D/L We expect to see several of these items available this month. New DCS World Features Available now in the Open Beta and coming soon, are two new features for DCS World: Wake Turbulence. Just like the wake behind a ship, an aircraft also produces a turbulence wake behind it, with the strongest forces coming off the wingtips as vortices. DCS World will now be modeling these as an option and will add a new level of realism and challenge when flying formations, aerial refueling, and air-to-air combat. Battle Damage Assessment. Displayed along the left side of the screen when a target is damaged or destroyed by the player, these notifications appear. A red notification indicates a destroyed target and a yellow notification with a percentage indicates a damaged target. When in the cockpit, it can often be difficult to know if a target was hit and damaged. This optional feature is provided to remove that mystery. DCS: MiG-19P Farmer Update The MiG-19P was originally planned for a release in January, but after an extensive review of the MiG-19, we and RAZBAM have decided to postpone its release until a few items are resolved. These include some needed improvements to the flight model and documentation. It’s RAZBAM’s desire to release the MiG-19P in a finished state so it will need just a little more time in the oven to meet this expectation. Sincerely, The Eagle Dynamics Team

DCS: F-14 by Heatblur Simulations Available for Pre-Purchase Pre-purchase and save $10 from The DCS: F-14 Tomcat by Heatblur Simulations is now available for pre-purchase with a $10 discount. Early Access release of a feature-complete F-14B will be this winter. The Grumman F-14 Tomcat was a two-crew, variable geometry, maritime air superiority fighter that served with the US Navy for 32 years and continues to serve with the IRIAF in Iran. The F-14 was the US Navy's frontline fighter from the 1970s until the mid-2000s. Over the course of its long service life it also became the US Navy's premier precision ground-attack platform and lone airborne reconnaissance asset. Outstanding features of the aircraft are the swing-wing configuration, crew of two, and the powerful AN/AWG-9 Weapons Control System (WCS) and radar. The AWG-9 allows employment of the powerful AIM-54 Phoenix air to air missile while the LANTIRN pod allows the ability to carry out precision ground strikes using laser guided bombs. The F-14 Tomcat was present during many pivotal historic moments such as the two Gulf of Sidra incidents, Operation Desert storm in Iraq, the conflict in Yugoslavia, Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom. It was also immortalized in the iconic motion picture, Top Gun, and starred in several other feature films including The Final Countdown, Executive Decision, and others. In addition, the Tomcat was also a vital player in the Iran-Iraq war during the 80s, flying for the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force which had acquired the F-14A from the US prior the Islamic Revolution of 1979. More screenshots The Heatblur Simulations F-14A/B Tomcat aims to simulate this iconic aircraft as a high-fidelity module for DCS, being the culmination of several years of research, coding and modelling. Special points of consideration amongst the many features are the external and internal graphic model created using laser scanning and photogrammetry from real Tomcats at various museums, the detailed modelling of the AN/AWG-9 and the ability to fly as a two-crew aircraft in multiplayer. Please read the complete feature list here MiG-29 for DCS World Available Now This is a free update for Flaming Cliffs 3 customer, or a separate purchase option from DCS e-shop This week we bring you the long-awaited update to the MiG-29A, MiG-29S, and MiG-29G! This is the last of the major updates to DCS: Flaming Cliffs 3 (FC3) line of aircraft. As with the other updated FC3 aircraft, the MiG-29 now incorporates a Professional Flight Model (PFM) that will continue to undergo development and improvement during the early access period. Additionally, the MiG-29 cockpit and external model have been greatly improved, and other changes have been made like: Option for casual gamer flight dynamics that prevents departures to stalls, automatic angle of attack limiter, and a G limiter. While the PFM for the MiG-29 is very realistic, some player may prefer a more forgiving aircraft to fly. As part of the PFM, we have tuned the available angular velocity of roll. The braking effect of the braking chute has been increased. The fuel level in internal fuel tank 1 has been increased. The MiG-29 "Fulcrum" is a Russian-designed, twin-engine, supersonic fighter. First operational in the early 1980s, the Fulcrum is a "light weight" fighter, comparable to the American F/A-18 Hornet and F-16. Designed to work in conjunction with the larger Su-27 Flanker, the MiG-29 is armed with an internal 30mm cannon and both infrared- and radar-guided air-to-air missiles. For air-to-ground tasks, the MiG-29 can be armed with a large array of unguided bombs and rockets. In addition to a sophisticated pulse doppler radar, the MiG-29 is also equipped with a passive Infrared Search and Track (IRST) sensor that allows the Fulcrum to detect and target enemy aircraft just based on their infrared emissions. This allows the MiG-29 to make stealthy attacks with no warning! The Fulcrum is a highly-maneuverable fighter in a dogfight, and when paired with the helmet mounted sight and the AA-11 "Archer" air-to-air missile, it is a very lethal adversary. The MiG-29 has also been widely exported and has served in many countries that include Germany, Iran, Ukraine, and Poland. Key Features of the MiG-29 for DCS World: A professional level flight model provides unmatched flight physics that allow you to truly feel what it's like to fly this amazing aircraft. Designed and tested by a former MiG-29 pilot! A true model of the MiG-29 flight control system that allows you to perform the "cobra" and other "out of the envelope" maneuvers. Highly detailed, six-degrees-of-freedom (6 DOF) cockpit. Accurate MiG-29 Fulcrum model, squadron markings, and weapons. Includes instant action, single missions, and a campaign. Battle the Hornet in head-to-head combat. Note: The MiG-29 for DCS World is identical to the MiG-29 in Flaming Cliffs 3. Owners of FC3 do not need to purchase. The main differences in the new PFM against SFM MiG-29 SFM had very basic stability/controllability model, where stick deflection defines required g-load (1 g auto-trim system). In real life, the MiG-29 is a plane with natural positive stability without any g-load feedback (as Su-27, for example) with additional longitudinal stability augmentation system (LSAS) and dampers. MiG-29 PFM carefully models real plane longitudinal stability and controllability characteristics of the plane itself as well as LSAS algorithms. Lateral and directional stability and controllability were tuned as well. The true effect from leading edge slats was added. To model the distinctive features of the plane aeroelasticity effect were added for ailerons together with the limited ability of the actuators. Roll rate is dependent on AoA and dynamic pressure and is very close to the real prototype. The plane has a very pronounced effect of ground proximity to its longitudinal controllability, which is modelled. Stick limiter algorithm is fundamentally changed in comparison to SFM to have it like the real thing. Autopilot modes are made closer to the real. What to do: Fine tuning of lateral and directional stability/controllability Engine fine tuning to adjust thrust for 70-80% rpm range High AoA and post-stall effects and behaviour tuning DCS World 2.5 Open Beta Update This week’s Open Beta release saw some key changes that include: Introduced the updated MiG-29 Increased range of the new HY-2 Silkworm anti-ship missile to 100 km Added the reload times of the SA-2 SAM and HY-2 Increased launch rate of the Ticonderoga Improved AI taxi logic on the carrier deck Flight model improvement of the drag curve, motor performance, and dynamic launch zone of the AIM-9L/M Sidewinder Several AJS-37 Viggen and MiG-21bis fixes and improvements Corrected Hornet TDC moving to stow position after target breaks a lock, aerial refueling Instant Action missions, adjusted TCTS pod drag value, radar B-Sweep no longer moves outside the tactical area, the B-Sweep returns to normal scan after the radar loses lock (B-Sweep hang after an undesignate key break lock already fixed this month) You can read the complete change log on the DCS forum We are on track to have the JHMCS with AIM-9X, FPAS page, fixed antenna logic, and AGM-65E and AGM-65F for the Hornet by the end of this month. In parallel, the HARM and ATFLIR pod are being developed, but these are complex tasks and will take longer. DCS World 2.5 will be released as a new download (NOT an update to an existing version). Modules under DCS World 1.5 and 2.2 will not need to be re-downloaded or activated. Just do not uninstall DCS World 1.5 and DCS World 2.2 Open Alpha prior to installing DCS World 2.5 Stable, as 2.5 will copy the modules over from 1.5 and 2.2. This should greatly reduce the amount of time to update to DCS World 2.5. Any files in your Users/Saved Games folder will not be affected. Movement of DCS World 2.5 would then soon follow to Steam. DCS: F/A-18C Hornet We and Belsimtek have been working long hours to bring the Hornet to an Early Access release state. Over the past few months, a lot of our time has been devoted to modeling the many fundamental systems that comprise the aircraft like the engines, fuel, electrical, hydraulic, flight control system, and many others. We are now starting to see the fruits of this labor, as evidence of the recent Hornet preflight, startup, taxi, and takeoff videos. Before we can release the Early Access version though, there are several important features we need to implement: Weapon HUD modes Moving map Countermeasures Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) Inertial Navigation System for Waypoints Flight Model Further development of the air-to-air radar Integration of new weapons Improve some of the cockpit art, display fonts, and HUD projection effect Once these items are completed, we plan to release the Hornet into Early Access and we believe it will be an amazing experience! For Hornet news, please consult our FAQ and our Mini-Updates. DCS: Strait of Hormuz Map Our next combat theater map will be the Strait of Hormuz. All of the fundamental work on this map is complete and we are not tuning the elevation mesh, textures, and cleaning up bugs. We expect to release this map in the not-to-distant future and we believe it will be a great home for the Hornet and carrier operations! DCS: Yak-52 As mentioned in an earlier newsletter, this will be an entertainment version of the Yak-52 we are developing for a commercial client. The Yak-52 will launch our new technology for radial engine dynamics which will provide a very realistic engine performance and management. This will be an extremely detailed and realistic simulation of the Yak-52 that will teach by-the-book training and aerobatics. Work is going very well and we are now focusing on the instrumentation and tuning the flight dynamics. We're sure this will be a great lead-in aircraft for new DCS World players and provide a great progression of Russian combat aviation.
