Olham 164 Posted March 21, 2013 Thank you guys! Jasta markings often changed later in the war. I have only collected markings on Albatros types here. If anyone likes - why not make a second part for Pfalz D.IIIa, Fokker Dr.1 or E.V, or Fokker D.VII ?

If anyone likes - why not make a second part for Pfalz D.IIIa, Fokker Dr.1 or E.V, or Fokker D.VII ? Olham; I'm already working on it. I will post them as I complete each aircraft type for critique/correction.
Dej 17 Posted March 21, 2013 According to tJP, Jasta 29 D.IIIs were characterised by Black and White numerals on the fuselage... what it actually means is anybody's guess w/o a photograph.
+elephant 36 Posted March 21, 2013 (edited) Jasta 29 was among the few Jastas that did't have an overall applied unit marking, only individual pilot identification markings, including the black trimmed in white numerals and letters you mention, Dej. Here is the photo you're asking for: PS: Jasta 15 was among the units with no distinctive unit markings except form pilot's individual identification, before the 'staffel swap' with Jasta 18. PS: Jasta 35b is question marked in Olham's list but it had a distinctive marking: diagonal white bands on upper wing repeated in black on lower wings undersides. Olham 164 Posted March 21, 2013 (edited) Great info and pics again, elephant - thank you for sharing! Jasta 78, anyone? Edited March 21, 2013 by Olham
+elephant 36 Posted March 22, 2013 (edited) OFF portrays Jasta 78b's generic Albatros D.Va with a brownish grey metal primer (OAW) and black spinner. In WW site there is a couple of photos of Michael Sigmann's plane (an OAW D.Va) from a Jasta 78 line up. The parts of the other planes visible in the pics do not suggest the use of a Jasta identification marking, the sample is too small to be definitive, anyway... PS: Found the full version of the first line up photo, featuring a mix of Albatros D.III (OAW) and D.Va (OAW) not in high so resolution unfortunately...
