Okay, I tried to run SF2 on Steamdeck...

There were no luck.

Thinks that I figured out was...

1. This is not problem about Proton

2. Direct X is not problem

3. Screen was rendered however, It doesn't output on correctly

4. Seems like, Forced borderless for Steamdeck is problem

I wish ThirdWire release SF2 on steam...

I tried SF2 on my steam deck a while ago as well (using lutris, proton 10), the game seems to get into menu correctly but nothing is rendered. Black screen but menu music can be heard and button input is functional. Tried messing around directx 9 dependency through either manually installing directx9 from official redistributable or winetricks but none worked.

Can't seem to find any other clue getting SF2 working on Linux/Wine yet other than this winedb entry. Heard SF1/Wings over Europe works on steam deck/linux but I haven't tried it myself

what youre trying to do is like making toast on a stovetop, while the rest of us are just popping it in the toaster

yes its possible, but much more trouble thatn its worth if you have a toaster( or Windows computer). especially for a game that hasnt had official support in 12 years and the core 3rd party people have been at it modding over those last 13 years (we've lost more modders over time than we've picked up

if you want to do this, by all means. i dont want to discourage you. but do realize you probably wont get much help either

I mean there is a mobile phone game as well... Because as DA said, there is no support (and getting a hold of somebody at ThirdWire, I don't know how that goes, because I have zero confidence that I'll get a reply), and if you want a mobile experience, access the Google Play store, etc. Steam Deck is literally not supported, but knock yourself out anyway, it's your time.

Why complicate things? Why complicate simple things?

I mean I always have SF2 installed on my windows desktop, but I do enjoy tinkering and figuring out how to get old Windows PC games to run on linux/proton on my free time.
