debmalya Posted Wednesday at 04:37 PM Posted Wednesday at 04:37 PM rwrs dont seem to give any warning of r 77s and aim 120 s (fired in TWS scan mode ) making them very difficult to evade Quote
Wrench Posted Wednesday at 06:26 PM Posted Wednesday at 06:26 PM Moved to the correct Forum =========================== Short answer, No. Quote
+daddyairplanes Posted Wednesday at 06:54 PM Posted Wednesday at 06:54 PM (edited) that would be rather like RL. by the time your RWR is picking them up, youre pretty much out of time while no fun in a game, the real life idea is to clobber the other guy before they even know anyone is in the area, let alone that theyre being targeted Edited Wednesday at 06:54 PM by daddyairplanes 1 Quote
simonmiller416 Posted Wednesday at 10:07 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:07 PM Well, the answer is obvious, as the two gentlemen said, no But in the other hand , we have an MWS that can actively warning ARH missiles - Friendly AI 1 Quote
debmalya Posted Wednesday at 11:03 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 11:03 PM did set up the real life India v Pakistan air battle this year (as much is possible ) i am from India and was completely aghast at the crazy hyperbole /mis information war in that a short war over Kashmir this year i modeled the engagement in the mission editor pakistan (20+ jf 17 ,10 j 10 c )_ versus ( 3 rafale , 18 su 30 ,6 mirage 2000 ) of the IAF , under cover of darkness Pakistan took more losses but the IAF Rafales got shot down.. since ARH Chinese pl 12 -pl 15 missiles could not be detected by the Rafales which i was flying (did this happen in real life ? ) in reality ARH seeker heads activate 10-15 km , so 10-15 secs time should be there to evade /deploy CM s Quote
simonmiller416 Posted Wednesday at 11:30 PM Posted Wednesday at 11:30 PM (edited) I think it's unfair to simulate 2020s air combat in SF2 , because it can't correctly simulate more modern devices and systems such as Datalink, MWS (missile warning system), AESA radar, so that can't accurately reference current technology and tactics. Especially for mods, different authors will have their own set of standards, and depending on the limited OSINT available during the modding period, the data may be exaggerated or too weakened. As a result, many situations will be completely different from reality. So I think we should just enjoy the game. Don't worry too much about these. debmalya Posted yesterday at 12:10 AM Author Posted yesterday at 12:10 AM yes , i know ... i do not have access to DCS !!! , LOMAC flaming cliffs 2 is the best i have got , falcon bms is not user friendly /over complicated sf2 is ideal for air combat up to early gen 4 (f 15 a, su 27b , mig 29 a, f14a ) 80 s era late cold war (HMD still not there , though ) ! EricJ Posted yesterday at 01:38 PM Posted yesterday at 01:38 PM With SF2 you have to realize that this came out in 2008, and the last patch was 2013. Hoping for some miracle (maybe Eagle114th will find something) is just not the thing to do and expect from this game. Granted DCS came out in the same year, DCS is constantly updated, so you can have all those cool little modern toys. We're basically (those that mod it more than I ever did) playing with a 2013 level game. TK apparently finds the mobile market more profitable than SF2 ever was. So some things that you will want, just won't get with this game. unless Eagle114th figures something out. 1 Quote
debmalya Posted yesterday at 02:23 PM Author Posted yesterday at 02:23 PM i am not a pilot , but what i understand about about flight mechanics , sf2 has a very good flight model for a lite flight sim a pity the avionics modelling was not developed further even a sim/game like the novalogic f 16 (1998 ), has more depth in some areas in this respect but sf2 series has far better flight model/enemy AI than the nova logic games i did simulate some engagements like mig 25 vs f 4 in SF2 series using mission editor the outcome was very similar to the ones in the you tube channels using dcs so the basic game had so much potential a pity it was not developed further yes the modders are incredible some of the new terrains are fantastic /default sf series terrain is very weak . 2 Quote

debmalya Posted 23 hours ago Author Posted 23 hours ago Well yes thank you Mr Wrench thing is , there is scope for a new/improved Ind pak terrain ... also a decent SU 30 mki with BRahmos missile ? given the current situation , there is likely to be further action in this area Quote
Wrench Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago I was actually working on revamping the India=Pakistan terrain. With the new TOD editor, I've been thinning out the TOD buildings in the cities, and correcting the damn truck and ground attack routes (I cannot believe that I messed them up so badly!!!) No timetable for re-release, but it'll be "sometime". 1 Quote
