AirCombatLegends Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Hi everyone, I wanted to share AIR COMBAT LEGENDS, a retro-inspired single-player combat flight game I’m currently working on. The game is set in an alternate 1990 Cold War conflict, where the Soviet Union launches a full-scale invasion of Poland and East Germany. The main focus is the dynamic procedural campaign. Before each mission, you recon the battlefield, decide what to hit, choose the pilot and aircraft, plan the strike, and then fly the mission yourself. The game is heavily inspired by classic PC combat flight sims such as F-29 Retaliator and F-16 Combat Pilot. I’m aiming for something more accessible than a full study sim, but with enough depth that aircraft choice, mission planning and what happens in the campaign actually matter. Some of the current features include: Dynamic procedural campaign Squadron and pilot management Pilot permadeath Reconnaissance and strategic target selection Cold War aircraft including the F-14, F-16, F-4, F/A-18, F-117, SR-71 and others Here is the announcement trailer - YouTube: LINK And the Steam page: LINK All development updates are also posted on X: LINK The project is still in development and quite a few things are still WIP, but I thought this might be a good place to show it, especially given how many people here have been playing combat flight sims for a long time. Happy to answer any questions about the game. SOME SCREENSHOTS: 4
Stratos Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Whishlisted, looks cool. But let me ask some questions: A: Flyable red side planned? Mig21 variants, 23 variants, Su-22 and 25... B: Will you add visible loadouts on the 3d? At the moment look strange to see those planes flying clean and then a missile magically appears. C : Textures? So we can have skins? 2
AirCombatLegends Posted 7 hours ago Author Posted 7 hours ago Thanks! Dunno yet about the red force, some polish Mig-21, and Mig-29 first if so. Thinking also about some additional scenarios in the future, so who knows. Also don't know yet about the loaduts in 3D, at first my plan was to have the simplicity of F-29 Retaliator, but then I started to add some stuff, so know it feels like the loadouts should be present Some planes already have some skins like the camo F-4, so yes. 1
redwood Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Very nice feel to the images - what kind of system requirements are we looking at? Best of luck with the project! 2
AirCombatLegends Posted 5 hours ago Author Posted 5 hours ago Thanks! Not too high I guess, but not F-29 Retaliator level also xD I think so mid-tier PC should be just fine. 1
