Can anyone tell me how to properly use, or where to go to read how to properly use, my wingmen? On an airfield attack I had at least 12 bomb laden planes under my command and altho I directed my wingman to bomb my target and the other flights to attack ground targets, three fourths of them just flew around and didn't unload their ord.

I tried directing my other wingmen at specific targets and that may have worked but the other flights just didn't do anything specific. Where can I read up on procedure of this scenario? Personal views welcome.

Sometimes the wingmen attack, sometimes they don't! The ferocity of their attack will also vary. I've ordered the attack and they don't acknowledge my radio transmission sometimes. Other times they'll respond but don't attack!! But there's also times when they bomb and strafe the living crap out of any ground targets they find until they run out of ammo! Now that's a sight we need to see more of!

In campaign mode: They'll attack ground vehicles and other objects if ordered. They don't do buildings under any circumstances.

In single mission mode: Your wingman will do buildings if ordered. Other flights under your command will only do vehicles.

Very frustrating, but use the Attack Ground command anyway to see them clear the area of AA threats.

Fast Eagle: It's a riddle, right? I mean, the answers to my question are hidden in your post like a riddle, rght? I'll get Frodo. He's gooood at riddles.

Galanti: I flew around the city for a good ten minutes waiting on those guys. maybe I should have given it more time. But I figured hanging around only invites trouble so I split.

Hi, I observed the same problems. Wingmen of a single flights or two flights flying around doing nothing. I give command and command - but at least flight 2 never takes any action. Its very frustrating not to accomplish the mission because my direct wingmen and me have missed the target and the other AI-pilots are flying around looking in the greens. So after the attack you rejoin a squadron that shows 50% fully armed wingmen. Another big bug is the assistance: even if the escort is very close to you they never engage in air-combat by command or by themslves if they are not attacked directly. My solution is to fly with one wingman only if possible, to destroy the targets exclusively by myself and to send home that stupid AI-wingman on reconnaissance-trips as he is literally a magnet to enemy´s interceptors and - very depressing - not to trust that he is covering my six; in most cases he did not do his duty, with or without the command.

One of the reasons why I switched over to LockOn :-/

I usually load up the second element with CBU so that they can take out AAA sites. That is all they ever attack. They wont attack the main target. I can get my wingman to attack if I lock on the target and then tell the wingman to attack my target. This works well in the SEAD missions because once the wingman acknowledges the command he rolls in on that target and you are free to select another target and roll in on that one yourself. Then I repeat the proceedure when he announced (Two's Off).
